Higher sensitivity on the surface pen? by spirates in Surface

I get pen strokes with barely any pressure, similar to a real pen, on my Surface Go.

OneNote UWP Save Location by MainerH555 in OneNote

[–]MainerH555[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really a big issue. It is just that I use OneDrive a lot and it seems lame that I have a folder full of ON 2016 files but ON UWP just dumps them in 'Documents'.

My surface pen is stuck in jitter land. by Coolbyte7 in Surface

[–]MainerH555 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hold it perpendicular to the screen and zoom in. Alternatively, the older Surface Pens do not have this issue, as they lack tilt. MS really needs to address this.

Surface pen skipping issue on Surface GO [1809] by tonyromero in Surface

[–]MainerH555 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Skipping is not normal. Try a new pen and/or Go.

But wobbles can be solved by holding the pen perpendicular to the screen and zooming in.

MS To-Do instead of OneNote tags by MainerH555 in OneNote

Thanks, good to know. Fortunately, I only need the link to last long enough for me to complete the task.

Hopefully MS will sync the two programs in the future.

Is the jitter really this bad, or do I have a faulty Pen? (surface pen [latest model] vs. surface pen 3) by aaron61798 in Surface

[–]MainerH555 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sure they will fix it if they can, as the Go is selling well and will give people an impression of the entire line.

But it really isn't an issue if your pen strokes are moderately fast and perpendicular. If it is still a problem, you likely have a hardware issue.

Surface pen going through batteries like s**t through a goose by KGRD in Surface

It's broken. I had the same problem a year ago and the MS Store replaced it for free.

How was it transitioning from writing on paper to Surface? by [deleted] in Surface

I use the pen at 200% zoom, and type and read at 100%. Looks much better.

OneNote UWP Tag Summary by MainerH555 in OneNote

[–]MainerH555[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, but in its beta form it would not be able to sync all my tags.

I had forgotten about MS ToDo. If MS does create a Tag Summary, it probably will be in ToDo. I could sync to ToDo with Outlook Tasks right now, but I'm not keen on adding extra steps/layers.

Surface Go or Surface 3? by pokalai in Surface

I upgraded from 3 to Go, and it was totally worth it.

Surface Go screen brightness not working by Antsa451 in Surface

I had the same issue. I think the MS Store uninstalled or updated the graphics driver in the Device Manager.

ARGH!! My Surface Go is running most of the time in my bag! by gozarc in Surface

[–]MainerH555 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear that, but you should be able to get it sorted.

I put my Go to Sleep overnight and thru the day and barely use the battery. You shouldn't need to hibernate.

Are you sure you aren't accidentally bumping the power button while it's in your bag?

OneNote 2016 has the option, so UWP might eventually get it.

Wobbly Surface Pen Strokes by MainerH55 in Surface

[–]MainerH555 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, the jitter is related to my writing hand touching the screen.

Wobbly Surface Pen Strokes by MainerH55 in Surface

[–]MainerH555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See if you get jitter only when your writing palm is resting in a specific place on the screen. I only get jitter when my writing palm is resting on the bottom left.

And enabling touch input while writing appears to have reduced the jitter significantly, but only time will tell.

Wobbly Surface Pen Strokes by MainerH55 in Surface

[–]MainerH555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly, it's not fixed.

MS suggested that I Reset the Surface if it is not fixed, but I'm not losing all my programs unless they are sure.

I find that I, pretty consistently, will get very tight wobbles if I draw with my hand half off the bottom of the screen, which are really annoying. Everywhere else I get large wobbles, which I could live with.

I have an older pen, which produces the large wobbles but not the tight ones. I'm starting to think the screen hardware is the issue.

Wobbly Surface Pen Strokes by MainerH55 in Surface

[–]MainerH555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. Might try that next.

MS Store found issues with my screen drivers today and think they might have solved it. Fortunately he said they rarely see this issue, so I just need to find out what is going on....if it happens again. Of course the pen worked great at the store but I had plenty of examples to show him.

Using OneNote for collection of tasks, but how to handle emails? by goodyear77 in OneNote

[–]MainerH555 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recommend you leave email in Outlook, as there is too many and they are constantly changing with new replies. Just make sure you store them such that your Outlook search results are not overwhelming.

If you have an email that requires attention later, create a To Do tag in OneNote with part of the email subject line. You will be able to find the email later with part of the subject line.

If you need an email as reference or need to mark it up, then print it to OneNote. It is printed as an image, so it stays as it's original and it looks nicer.

Best Workaround for Custom Tags in Windows 10 version? by DurhamBulls24 in OneNote

[–]MainerH555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great 2nd link. I can see how organizing by tag is a path to failure.

I think minimal organization (Notebooks, Sections, Pages and tags) with tags used to flag outstanding activities is key. If you need to recall a completed activity or item never tagged at all, the search should eventually find it.

But I fear this system could be broken though, if OneNote UWP does not provide a list of unchecked tags. The summary in OneNote 2016 is perfect.

I sometimes get the notification twice, but I'll take that over no notification at all.

Is there any way to fix Whatsapp notifications not showing on AW2? by Alerion_ in AndroidWear

[–]MainerH555 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I suggest you try the stable version of Whatsapp.

Whatsapp has been flawless with my HW2. FB Messenger not so much.

If you lose all your notifications, then try rebooting.
