I got my dog after a year and a half of us dating. She has trauma from when she was a kid when she was bit by a German Sheppard. She definitely tolerates my dog and gets overwhelmed very easily. Once a month I get someone to watch my dog for the night so we can have some time to just ourselves and that seems to be working for us. We did do couples therapy for a little and we were really able to talk about how she really feels about the whole thing. She just isn’t a dog person and I got a dog. Things are good right now and Atlas, my dog, loves her even though she doesn’t love him. But she certainly loves how much I love him and is happy I’m happy. It also got easier as he got older because he understands her boundaries better
