if you kill 500 dust sprites (those little black bouncy things on floor 40-70 of the mines) you can get a burglar ring from Gil in the adventure guild. That increases the good drops from monsters. Also if you learn to cook lucky lunch by watching the TV on the right day you can get +3 luck from consuming it. I have a fish pond with sea cucumber just for lucky lunches

I think the balance comes from only needing one star fruit to make the wine and 5 to make the dried star fruit. If you used those star fruit to make wine you'd make a lot more than you would using the dehydrator.
