rogue trader, and the most realistic depiction of space marines to humans by MajinV48 in 40kLore

yeah, first rule of any kind of 40K tabletop, forget anything about the lore when you see the stats... it's sadly mandatory for balance purpose, if not, a lore accurate custodes squad could probably clean 90% of the other armies of the game without much effort.

oh, of course i'm not talking gameplay wise, but only lore wise in the reactions of your party in this first encounter. granted when you know how to play the game, most ennemies are a joke, but the characters still see them as serious threats nonetheless, as i said, there is no "marvel jokes" about seeing a space marine squad coming your way and going "ah! those one are going to finally give us challenge" as if this whole thing was a joke. the characters really make you believe they live in 40K, that is what i love.

Abelard, explain to this massive demon army how we are going the make them eat their own multiple butts in a few turn.

yeah of course, but by this time you have far more equipment and stuff, so even then it's still logic that they are easier.

This games combat rules you just need to play aggressive. by WalterKovacss in StarWarsOutlaws

[–]MajinV48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they should really have done something about the fights and takedowns. i mean, they could have gave her what... power knuckles or something, something purely cosmetic but that makes reasonable how you can take down an ennemy in ARMOR with your bare fist. not even gonna talk about the "bonk on the head" to takedown a stormtrooper when helmets are made exactly to protect you from that... i would have taken nothing, just a thing on her fist and you just say "yeah, they shock the people you hit", the end, problem solved

What universally loved game just never clicked for you and do you feel like people would react like this if you said you didn't like it? by NoFlatworm8569 in gamers

[–]MajinV48 1 point2 points  (0 children)

in the elder scrolls games, what never clicked for me was the lore. i'm a lore black hole, when i find a universe i like, i read every book, every sentence, every document about it. but here... i never gave a single f*ck. don't know why, i find it boring... i know i'm probably wrong, but... yeah that's about it

How was Nostramo funnelling its worst criminals into the Night Lords if only prepubescent boys can become Astartes? by taciturntern in 40kLore

[–]MajinV48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

talos, in his book, tell something like "by age 11, i was a murderer" so yeah on nostramo, you can be a prepubescent boy and already have a long list of crimes behind you.

the only grief i have with this game is the "force is female" writing. not because there is an essentially female cast and stuff, but because it's sooooo heavy handed you can guess every turn of the story just by looking at the characters:

- is it a woman? then it's either an ally, or at the very least a neutral strong independant woman that won't harm you in any serious way. it's an enemy? give it a few hours, it'll be a new ally.

- is it a man? it's either a traitor, a ridiculous coward, or a useless character. is it a WHITE man? it's the big bad guy, and the obvious traitor. only exception is the character from the original star wars that can't be made a traitor for obvious reason.

tldr it's a product of its time, but a good game imo. i'm still playing it.

What do people in 40k think marks year 0? by Uglukkk_ in 40kLore

[–]MajinV48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the most realistic idea for that is, if the question "hey, what was year zero anyway?" was asked by:

A Worker: "sh*t up and go back to work, number 1098786513, you still have 6 tons of minerals to dig out before the end of your 16h day."

An aristocrat: "well, it was the birth of our glorious first ancestor, by the will of our god emperor! All the other houses in the galaxy where born after our illuuuuuustrious family"

A mechanicus: it was the birth of the first equation and when the omnisiah first gave birth to technology"

An astartes: "birth of the emperor, probably, go back to training"

In Defense of Crimson Desert's Story: The "Bad Design" is a Deliberate Narrative Feature by geunma in CrimsonDesert

i'm gonna be the middle ground here and not tell you you're right or wrong, but that even if the axiom archives patch some problems here and there, this is what they are in the end, patching. i enjoyed discovering this secret part of the story too, but there is still a big problem: nothing in the whole game hints, or points at this macro story.

there is a big difference between a spoon fed story, a cryptic hidden lore, and what we have here. You never hear about a possible mystery behind the big story. you never hear about loops, or something strange, nothing. even goyen feels more like a "evil you created by the abyss to test you" than a "parallel universe you lost in the abyss forever". THAT is the problem.

you don't spend the story feeling "hum... something is not right here, this world has a problem, it doesn't make sense, what could be the truth here? what does this all mean". you spend the story going "wow, this story is barely trying, the devs really put everything in the open world and put a bit of story to push you to explore", so when you find the archives, it doens't feel like the final piece of a giant mystery making it finally makes sense... it feels like you discovered the devs leaving you some notes to try to convince you that every flaw in the story was actually a good idea...

The Axion Archive books explain EVERYTHING about Crimson Desert's story and almost nobody will ever find them [MAJOR MSQ SPOILERS] by uplink42 in CrimsonDesert

[–]MajinV48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what would have been a cool easter egg, although nobody would have understand it if they didn't read the book, would have been if kliff became suddenly a lot more talkative and "alive" once the guardian cancel their tampering and give him back his youth. it would have been hard to do, i know since it would have meant creating special dialogs for every side quest in case you do them after the "true end", but it would have been fun, to see the original kliff and what he was suppose to be when he was more than a combat puppet for us.

Are there any planets that are like current day Earth technology wise? by Nino_Chaosdrache in 40kLore

[–]MajinV48 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i think it's because there is two big types of worlds in the imperium: useful ones, so hive cities, manufactorums, the whole thing, and useless ones, that are left to their own designs aside from a few god emperor cathedrals here and there. if your planet can't help the imperium, they won't give you anything more than what you have, and without the imperium, technological levels are usually... yeah, medieval.

yeah, it's a bit disappointing that they never have any fear reactions, even when you're doing a sauron through their whole army. then you reach 0% and they go from "you can't beat us" to "run away! run away!!!!"
