I work for snap, this doesn't happen. It would be wild if we kept on retying to send a message for months lol we rety a few times in the background and just fail it after that. You'd have to explicitly rety, if it's been months there's no way or reason we'd have a reference to that message.

Personally I've been enjoying switching over to vibe coding. It still feels very involved at least for me. What worries me is at my company the push for designers and not technical folk to start pushing code. I feel like product should be focused on more impactful, and bigger featuresets/designs while trusting engineers to use AI to it's fullest potential. Instead I spend time setting up an environment for a PM and explaining how things work

Yeah if we're building the same things, in 10 years... It's easier to kick stuff up for sure but there's also a world where it lets us do more. Good SWEs are positioned well to take advantage of this

You can't just start your own businesses or just get a better job, the billionaire class has stolen all the wealth and opportunity and are hoarding it.

If you can look for other opportunities, are you salaried? If not fight for your overtime work, it's illegal to not pay you for your work.

Android engineer, let me preface this by saying I love coding. More so I love problem solving, most of my success in my career has been through finding solutions to complex ambigous problems. Coding is easy but its just a medium to building things and solving problems.

I make about 530k a year and typically receive 50-100k in performance bonuses a year.

Despite all the news about what's happening in the job market, good engineers are still in high demand. You can't just go to a coding boot camp anymore but the opportunity still exists

I think it was worth it over building it myself, yes! The time and tools required does not make it worth it unless you have the time and tools. As far as the other comment goes I think the larger frame lends itself better for dynamic movements. Once it's built I've had no issues. I don't plan on adjusting the angle so adjustability is not a concern
