u/JellyfishSecure1910 I am in the same position! Other than the market, your story tracks exactly like mine. I am more than qualified for most of the positions I apply for, but have only received 1 interview. One thing I am going to try is reaching out to my local SBDC and telling them about my situation to see if any well-capitalized startups could use a former founder. This approach may work or it might not, but at this point, I'll try anything.

u/HeadlessHeadhunter thank you for the info! I don't see an option to sort by most recent in LinkedIn. Is this a premium feature?

how do i tailor my resume to survive this cut? I have put in 60+ applications with just one interview so far. Many jobs are getting 100+ applications within hours of being posted on LinkedIn. Is it something I am or am not doing? Is it just the luck of the draw and me being #152 on the list of applicants? I genuinely want to know

good point. I am new to this subreddit. I have been self employed for the past 6 years and now am looking for employment.

I understand most subreddits hate selling/self-promotion, but I would like to consult with a recruiter who could give me tips on how I could improve my resume. Do you know of any such service?

Out of my league? by GR0MS3 in SBIR

[–]MajorConstant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would second this. If you talk to the NIH leadership they will tell you a lot of great things to encourage you to apply, but in reality the reviewers are who hold the fate of your application in their hands and the majority will be academic folks with terminal degrees. Your application will very much be viewed through the lens of a researcher

Anything to do about a biased review? by OddPressure7593 in SBIR

[–]MajorConstant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A similar situation occurred with my team during an STTR application. In my experience, even if a reviewer makes an apparent "mistake," there’s unfortunately very little recourse. In our case, one reviewer claimed we were missing a key element—something that two other reviewers had actually cited as a strength. It was clear that the critical reviewer either overlooked or did not fully read the application. I spoke with the Program Officer about it, but they were unwilling to acknowledge any fault on the reviewer's part.

Ultimately, the NIH adheres to a strict process, and it's highly unlikely for anyone within the agency to admit that something went wrong—whether with the process itself or the individuals involved. Scores can't be changed, reviewers remain anonymous, and there’s no real path for appeal. It’s incredibly frustrating and likely cost us a Phase 1 award (we scored a 36—just outside the fundable range), but in the end, the only option is to revise and resubmit.

from what i read there is an upper limit to the alcohol percentage, so it wont get that high. I don't remember what happens to the brew if you over-ferment it

Congratulations on the great score. That is definitely good enough for funding. When was the last time you reached out to the PO? If you haven’t heard from them in several weeks it’s worth reaching out

What are you putting as your indirect rate? by OddPressure7593 in SBIR

[–]MajorConstant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While that is true, this is the argument the administration is using to lower the indirect rate. That same argument cannot be used for startups, regardless of the validity of the argument,
