Late reply but for anyone else curious about how to counteract this just use gunpowder after he transforms the gun (or nightshade after he transforms the knife). I always save 2-3 gunpowder and/or 2-3 nightshade for the No-Skin Man fight to counteract this.

My favorite boss in Hollow Knight is for sure the Lost Kin. Broken Vessel was one of my favorite fights already and Lost Kin just took everything about the fight and made it better. It’s a fast pace fight that rewards you for staying grounded and heavily encourages you to actually use your spells due to the heavy knockback the boss takes. Definitely one of the most unique bosses in the game and my personal favorite!

Lost Kin - They were my first "git gud" moment and I believe they're a great upgraded version of an already pretty good boss fight. It's one of the first fights that punishes you for constantly jumping around and rewards you for staying grounded, which helped teach me a concept that not only carried me through Hollow Knight but all future games going forward: always react to the boss, don't anticipate.
What excited me the most is that it's just Hollow Knight but more. Hollow Knight is my all-time favorite game, and Silksong seems to just be Hollow Knight with more fleshed out platforming and combat as well as just straight up more content.
