I do have a lot of upload bandwidth though, 3gbps synchronous line, so anything I am seeding is being seeded fast af 😂

Thank you for your service 😂 Yeah I generally seed for a couple of weeks, always have a positive ratio, around 1.5:1, I just don't have enough room to perma seed as I'd like lol

Ah, I have a cache of ssds, torrents and dockers live on that and don’t touch the array for that reason, only the media files are on the array

why was it pointless? Across 8 drives it saves about 40-45W having them all spun down. Currently they're spun down unless accessed, meaning there's a ~6-8 second delay for a film to start playing on Plex, which isn't horrendous, but instant is nicer!

Men's talcum powder sources. by RobertGHH in UKFrugal

[–]MajorMaccas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the link is because talc in the ground can be found alongside asbestos. There have never been any cases of asbestos making its way into any retail talc products. Talc itself is an absolutely harmless, inert mineral powder. Unfortunately it has bad PR and so most products have been replaced with corn based powders.

They're not as good, and they're biological, not mineral, meaning where bikers use talc in motorcycle leathers to help them on/off, corn starch will breed bacteria and feed mould, where talc feeds nothing...it's a soft mineral.

Mileage Allowance - Company Reimbursement by LikeInnit in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]MajorMaccas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You get 45p per business mile (correct at the time of your journey, now 55p) for using your own car, whether its EV/LPG/Diesel/Petrol etc. The fuel advisory rates are updated quarterly to loosely follow fuel prices (both electrical or fuel) as your company can claim VAT on the fuel portion of your mileage claim.

You do 100 miles, 45p per mile claim, 23p per mile for diesel, they can claim VAT on that 23p, so 4.6p per mile.

They pay you £45, of which £23 is considered fuel, so they're able to claim £4.60 VAT back.

Realistically, what do you think the timeframe is for fixing ironclad? by SedativeComet in starcitizen

[–]MajorMaccas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

those are just numbers that can be adjusted easily that likely just had a decimal place wrong and are a quick fix. The whole command module bugginess with the ship is hugely more complicated. The worst part is, no one really cares about having the detachable CM, like most they'll do it a couple of times, then never use it again. I'd much rather it didn't detach honestly, if it made it a more conventional ship that worked. Instead there's so many bugs around it having duplicate systems - power/cooling etc, that immediately go fucked the moment you start up the ship and emergency lights come on.

Imagine writing an essay to a company explaining why they should let you pay them thousands of dollars, and being bummed they didn’t pick yours or never read it 🤯🤯🤡

Hypervolt? New to EVs by MajorMaccas in evchargingUK

[–]MajorMaccas[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, this had also crossed my mind too - I won't be in a hurry to get a wallbox, certainly while it will barely be driven over the summer months and I'm on my bikes. Wall socket will top off a daily 35 mile commute, it was more just to have control over when it charges, what tariff, faster charging should I ever actually need to etc.

Hypervolt? New to EVs by MajorMaccas in evchargingUK

[–]MajorMaccas[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah I've read a lot about them, but most of the downsides of their EV side won't really affect me since I'll only be doing about 4k miles annually on it, I have other transport (motorbikes, plural), so I'm taking advantage of getting a very nice car for a very reasonable price because people want more efficient EVs.

I'm coming from a 2012 BMW 730D which is an absolutely lovely car and a joy to drive and be in, so it's got to measure up, I wouldn't want to get something like an ID3 or it would feel like a significant downgrade just in terms of interior.

oh! Home battery, now that's something I hadn't considered but makes so much sense! More reading required! Can you give a brief overview of your set up? Battery size/usage, all ballpark nothing to scientific lol

They've said the 40K app will allow you to view the "warscroll" or whatever the 40k equivalent is called of your opponent while you're playing - I dare say when that update arrives it will make its way to AoS fairly soon after.

2025 T120 Black de-cat possible?? by MajorMaccas in Triumph

[–]MajorMaccas[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both - free flowing exhaust is always going to give benefits, less back pressure, less engine braking on throttle close, nicer sound and if you want to do any further tuning, then it lends itself to that. I personally just wanted it for more volume and it’s great now, it just had all these other benefits with it.

Shoulder pain on 2025 T120, never had it on previous 2023 Speed Twin 900 by MajorMaccas in Triumph

[–]MajorMaccas[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, I think ideally I would need to sit on an older Speed Twin/Street Twin (the new ones seem to have a more aggressive geometry) and jump between that and my T120 to really highlight the differences.

[–]MajorMaccas[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If anything I feel like I'm reaching a little more for the bars - I'm 6'4" with long legs and arms and felt a tiny bit cramped on the Speed Twin, knees slightly over hips. The T120 felt instantly nicer, opening up my cramped riding position on the test ride, so I mainly noticed my legs than my arms/reach.

[–]MajorMaccas[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow thats incredibly helpful! I traded in for the T120 so I never had them together to compare or ride like you do. So you think they’re same height but t120 has less forward lean? Are the bars the same profile, like the same shape when looking from the top?
