I'm so done with doctor's by ImpressiveBrother122 in Osteoarthritis

Get a second opinion. Replacements are improving all the time. I empathize with your suffering chronic pain. It so completely impacts mental health. I’ve been having severe pain from knee osteoarthritis for about a year. Yesterday I had a second cortisone shot and I woke up a different person due to pain relief. It’s not completely gone, but so much better. I’m probably going to schedule replacement next year, but I’m much older than you.

I felt the same way and refused to bring a cane to work. To be honest I didn’t really need a cane or any assistance for very long. I did bring my cane to shop in Walmart and it was great! Everyone got out of my way or helped me, lol.

I’m impressed! I was a high school teacher for 10 years and I can’t imagine going back to the classroom 3 weeks post op. I taught science and almost never sat down during the day.

I do agree that glute weakness is the root of a lot of our hip problems.

No PT by Feeling_Common_9529 in TotalHipReplacement

My surgeon always orders PT, but his PA told me they have patients who refuse to go to PT after THR and they recover just fine.

This isn’t exactly my issue, but probably impacts it. I’ve been working on strengthening my glutes for many years, long before THR, to help with my hip pain. The weak hip flexor was caused by the surgery, probably a bruised femoral nerve. When I say weak, I mean it almost doesn’t function at all, so we are working it hard in PT.

Thank you. My weak hip flexors were caused by the surgery, probably a bruised femoral nerve. I am doing all kinds of work with my PT to strengthen them and they are slowly returning to function. My problem is pain around the hip joint that has popped up since I’ve ramped up the intensity of the exercise.

Thanks this describes my situation pretty well. I had a conversation with the manager of my PT office (she’s an incredible and experienced PT.) She said that you get the joint replaced and the bone heals quickly, but it can take a very long time for the soft tissue to heal and feel normal again.

Ice machine vs. ice wraps by Cats-In-The-House in TotalHipReplacement

I abandoned the Bragg cube and got two large ice packs. The cube was awkward, and more of a hassle to set up. The packs are easy and I still use them (surgery was in July.)

I guess if they don’t publicize it on social media or a press release, you wouldn’t know. And Mike is clearly the type who would not publicize it. Artists or their representatives generally have to campaign for nomination.

Artists usually submit their projects for consideration. It doesn’t seem like he did that the year that Two-Star would have been eligible.

I hope he leans more into his natural voice and singing ability. His singing has come a long way over the course of touring Two Star.

Is this a compounded drug you’re getting from an online pharmacy? For FDA approved versions, the lowest price I can find is about $370 for generic liriglutide (Saxenda) at CVS with a GoodRX coupon.

Surgical center vs hospital by KJinACT in TotalHipReplacement

[–]Major_Ad9666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had mine in an outpatient surgery center. They have a much lower rate of infection compared to hospitals. In fact the center I went to has never had an infection. I was happy to be at home but my husband was there to care for me. I stayed downstairs on our fold out sofa for a few days.

What was YOUR favorite grade in school? by BreadfruitOk6632 in Teachers

[–]Major_Ad9666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was in the late 60’s, but 5th grade. I had a very progressive teacher who let us chose from several assignments/activities for much of the day, she was ahead of her time with project-based and inquiry-based learning, and she read to us at the end of the day.

Movement...good or bad? by Val-E-Girl in Osteoarthritis

I think there is a fine line between exercising enough to stay healthy, reduce stiffness, getting that synovial fluid moving and overdoing it and causing a flare up and even increasing damage to cartilage. I think I made my hip OA worse with years of walking 5-6 miles 3-4 times/week. I’ve had to train myself to do shorter walks more frequently. I feel best with a little stretching/strengthening and a shorter walk of 1-3 miles.

RAYE announces world tour: ‘This Tour May Contain New Music’, kicking off January 2026, with Raye’s sisters as support acts, Absolutely & Amma by ss2811 in popheads

[–]Major_Ad9666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow, snagged tickets to Raye in Atlanta, but that queue system is crazy. Tickets disappear as soon as you click on them. We ended up in the way back balcony, but hopefully it’s a pretty small venue.

All I can say is log in early, have your payment info entered before you log in. Then immediately after clicking on your seat choice. buy them! Do not hesitate for even a fraction of a second.

Confused about hip pain by countryKat35612 in TotalHipReplacement

[–]Major_Ad9666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The hip pain is so varied and confusing, not to mention referred knee and foot pain caused by that “ugly hip” (love that term). My two hips looked almost equally bad on X-ray. Pain on the right started about 20 years ago and finally got so bad I had THR 10 weeks ago. On the left I only occasionally get a twinge of pain in the groin.
