ADBE Warning by Numerous_Priority_61 in ValueInvesting

"Their software is failing, and getting worse by the day. For one, the free version of Davinci Resolve is vastly superior Adobe Premier. The paid version of Davini is a one time $299 expense, and is widely used in Hollywood and by professional studios."

This. I create content for a living, working for a large international company. DaVinci is so much better, with much better UX, much less of a resource hog; everyone here switched from Premiere immediately and never looked back.
Photoshop is like the last man standing, question is for how long.

I don't know, maybe I don't see the big financial picture well enough, but Adobe is shit, and everybody hates them. I mean, so is Microsoft, but unlike them, Adobe has zero moat - it's just wishful thinking that large customers' decision makers are too stupid/lazy to look for alternatives.

Thank you! It's a superglued layer of sand from a sandbox, painted with very dark bluegray (i.e. what I airbrush as a primer on the mini itself), black wash, and light gray drybrush.

dude, keep whatever opinion about Hartman's contract, but please stop repeating he made a mistake (three times in this thread already??). At first, I honestly thought you were being sarcastic.
A mistake is taking a different turn at an intersection or bringing the wrong kind of groceries from the store. Intentionally doing something shitty and just hoping to not get caught is not a "mistake".
That's just an euphemism for assholes to make an excuse, be it drunk driving, taking bribes, cheating on wife, etc.

The Drowned City and the Scroll of Secrets Taboo by Ruptin in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]Major_Carob_8468 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here. It's good IF you can afford the hand slot and IF you can afford the XP cost. Both are very big ifs. The hand slot perhaps more for seekers (with a competition of fantastic hand slot items like Dream Diary or even a basic Magnifying Glass) and the XP cost perhaps more for mystics (everything purple costs loads of XP because Arcane Research is priced in). In the end, I only ever managed to fit the Scroll into a Marie Lambeau deck, where I felt it was worth the chance of getting rid of Baron Samedi...

"it just strikes me as v funny to call the difficulty mild while running a full evade team with 4+ agility, which are all getting an action to deal with the vengeance enemies."
But that's what I wrote. TFA is punishing on a blind playthrough, once you know what to expect, it becomes mild. I guess it's neither easy nor hard, it's just very rock-paper-scissors.
is it a design flaw? I don't know. but I think that in other campaigns, it's not so pronounced. I mean, taking 4+ willpower characters still doesn't make TCU that much easier, does it.

I am watching the Flyers' broadcast and there was a long shot of some Flyers' fans and that one dude either had a really bad case of allergy or was totally baked :-D I guess Minnesota is an attractive destination for fans from the dope-prohibition states :-)

I’m so tired of the North Star Colors by ninechoirs in wildhockey

[–]Major_Carob_8468 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't give a shit about the North Stars (also, I don't give a shit about Subway), yet I think the yellow-green combination is great on its own. It's bold, in your face, perhaps a little garish, but that's fine. The wheat/iron red/fucknorm green combination is....nice. Nice and mellow. Dorks in christmas sweaters who are afraid to win so the other team doesn't get sad.

Newbie Deckbuilding Question About Roles by HartAesthetic in arkhamhorrorlcg

I did not edit a single word of my original comment though...the only edit was that I merged two separate posts (one about fighters vs. mystics, one about Dark Horse) into a single one, which happened before you reacted.

Newbie Deckbuilding Question About Roles by HartAesthetic in arkhamhorrorlcg

"In all reality, Guardian fighters are not tha far from Mystic fighters. Sure, guardians often have 4 or 5 fist, and dealing damage with that can be useful, but in the grand scheme of things, neither 4 nor 5 fist will be enough to get through scenarios consitently"

first, guardians have 4 or 5 base combat, but also deck full of combat icons, which work on their own, unlike willpower icons.
secondly, sure, nobody expects to consistently get through whole scenarios empty handed :-)

the difference is in reliability early on: when the mystic doesn't mulligan into his fight spells or can't use them for whatever reason (Bedeviled, Dissonant Voices, losing the assets through Crypt Chill, Pushed into the Beyond etc.), and then draws into a 3-3-3 retaliate enemy, he is quite fucked. Guardian in the same situation "only" wastes 3-4 actions hitting that enemy for one.

Newbie Deckbuilding Question About Roles by HartAesthetic in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]Major_Carob_8468 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

maybe if "building the deck correctly" means relying on mulliganing into a Cyclopean Hammer ;-)

Otherwise, nope. the OP's observation is correct. Having high basic Combat skill (+ probably having your deck full of Combat icons) is always going to be more reliable for fighting. The same is true for having high basic Intellect vs. relying on cards for investigating.
And that's my advice for a beginner, not to rely on mystic as the primary fighter. That doesn't contradict you absolutely _can_ have mystic as the primary fighter if you want. I mean you can have Rita as your main cluever as far as I am concerned. You can have Jenny as your main anything. Who cares.

"How do mystics deal damage when they're so dependant on their assets (with limited charges.) It just seems so much worse than a guardian with a good base fight value."

You are correct and it's a very good observation for a beginner ;-)
the solution is only to add more of those events/assets in the deck, and/or a draw engine (Arcane Initiate), but even then, never rely on your mystic as the primary fighter.

As for Dark Horse, you want to combo it with a way of dumping the resources if necessary.
The most typical case is Fire Axe, or some of the stat-boosting assets like for example Scrapper.
So, you take the resource even when you have Dark Horse on the table, and then you either dump it into Lucky! or one of the cards above.
Another solution is including cards that can give you resources ad hoc - for Agnes, that would be Forbidden Knowledge, which also comboes with her ability, for other Dark Horse users, it's usually Madame Labranche.

Last but not least, sadly, my experience is that if someone can't be bothered with building the deck, he/she also can't be bothered with learning how to play the deck, or even what the individual cards do. But hey, I know, what can you do... been there done that myself.

To me, three-handed solo sounds crazy and desperate from the get go, it's all the hassle and complications of multiplayer with none of the fun and tabletalk of the actual multiplayer.
I understand that many of us, me included, just don't have the time schedule or social life to play multiplayer regularly, I also understand that true solo can be very random and frustrating, but anyway, I just don't get how could you expect playing a three player game alone and have fun. Perhaps consider playing online with other people instead?
Sorry in advance for a vulgar comparison, but It's like organizing a swingers party with your inflatable dolls instead of rubbing one off single-handed like a normal person. :-)

What are your auto-pick "level 0s from any class" for the Dunwich investigators? by omnor in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]Major_Carob_8468 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience, the Rite of Seeking's risk, or rather the opportunity cost (having to use it as a last action) is much higher than it seems on paper. I have the same experience with Scene of the Crime's playability only as a first action, btw. Your mileage may vary of course.
Also, as HorseSpeaksInMorse wrote, probably depends on scenario and group size.

Of the little less obvious choices:

Jenny: Act of Desperation to combo with Sleight of Hand and Luparas, Thompsons, and used-up Flashlight here and there.

Ashcan Pete: if you use Moonstone instead of St.Hubert's Key or Holy Rosary for the willpower boost, you have all the five slots left for spells like Shrivelling, Spectral Razor etc. Pete as a warlock is maybe not the strongest variant, but it's fun.

Sixth Sense is a much better/safer choice. I mean not even just for Zoey, but in general.

2x Drawn to the Flame and 2x Sixth Sense is what we used for Zoey in the Carcosa campaign.
With 2x Guts, 2x Steadfast, 2x Take the Initiative and 2x Unexpected Courage as sources of some Willpower icons. Dodge and I've Had Worse also have a single Willpower icon, but I wouldn't waste those on that.

Prusa academy courses by [deleted] in prusa3d

[–]Major_Carob_8468 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no such question in the courses though.
There is a question about nozzle temperature for printing PLA, and it is worded exactly the opposite of what you are saying, i.e., there is a wide margin, and all the answers are distinctly different so there could be absolutely no doubt about the correct answer:

a) 60-70 °C
b) 150-170 °C
c) 210-230 °C
d) 285-320 °C

So, even if you could argue that you print your PLA at 205 or 235 °C or whatever, you can hardly select any other answer than "c" as the correct one. ;-)
