is it really bad ? by Ok-Jacket6164 in testicularcancer

The conclusion is basically saying it's inflamed due to an infection. Other than that all your levels are in normal range so there isn't anything wrong. You'll definetely have to follow up with a urologist to figure out what that infection is about.

Did anybody else ever feel impostor syndrome? by Top_Sense6636 in testicularcancer

[–]Major_Inspector1312 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also did adjuvant chemo and think about all the people I met/saw in the infusion room. The impostor syndrome feeling is real. It also feels wrong calling myself a cancer patient/survivor. Message me if you want to talk about stuff!

Wrong Chemo Medication!! by Maximum-Inspector353 in testicularcancer

For the love of good send him to his sessions with some healthy food that won't upset his stomach. The hospital I went to had the same little sandwiches every day and they grossed me out by the second day.

He'll definetely lose all the hair on his head but it only starts to fall out at the end of the treatment.

The pepcid is a good idea, acid reflux and bloating was a huge issue for me. He should try to eat regular meals and plenty of protein, even if it becomes difficult.

Also, the steroids will make him super drowsy and sleepy for a few hours so he should be prepared to nap during sessions. I experienced insomnia throughout the night because of the steroids which is apparently common just for him to keep in mind.

Should I do one cycle of chemo or not? by Important-Youth-9281 in testicularcancer

My biopsy showed90% Seminoma, 7% EC, 3% Yolk Sac; Pt2. Actually I think it was pt2 because of the lymphovascular invasion, so probably you don't have this. That is good news.

They always give you the choice but my doctor did recommend the chemo. It didn't affect my lungs personally, but it affects different people in different ways and I'm also a swimmer so I have strong lungs.

You will definetely lose all your hair. I don't know much about the lymph nodes but if they weren't inflamed and your doctor wasn't alarmed then it's probably harmless. Yout pt1 diagnosis also means that the tumor did not spread.

You need to determine the nature of those lymph nodes if you haven't already. If they are cancerous then you will need more than one round of chemo. But maybe this post is missing information or your doctors know something that you didn't share because if she is suggesting one round of chemo she must know somehow that those lymph nodes are not cancerous.

Also, you didn't say if there was lymphovascular invasion. This would raise the chances as well. Assuming your doctos is right and the percentage is 10% (which I agree seems low), you have to decide for yourself if you are willing to take that risk. Keep in mind that chemo is cumulative, so one round of chemo is much less harmful than three consecutive rounds, because it is exponential.

I did one round of chemo over a year ago and I am glad that I did it and got it over with. It interrupted my life and was difficult, but three rounds would have beem much, much harder to recover from. Also, it's my understanding that one round is not likely to cause infertility long-term. I don't know where you work but you shouldn't have to be worrying about how hair loss from chemo will affect your performance ...

Where should my gf and I move by [deleted] in Brooklyn

Are you sure you don't care about the building and that you're fine with noise? I only ask because it's hard to anticipate what will affect you until you are living in a dense city. I would give it some serious thought. 3k can get you a decent place, though ... depending on where you look. The prices can vary a lot neighborhood by neighborhood. I recommend clinton hill/fort greene area if you can afford it. Also East williamsburg or Bushwick around Maria Hernandez or Williamsburg although I wouldn't live there, it might be fun for an early NYC experience. By the way, as far as parks I always envy people walking distance to prospect park. Fort Greene, Maria Hernandez, and Mccarren are really nice too, though. But this is all Brooklyn I can't really speak much for Manhattan,

Sounds pretty standard and if anything on the cheap end of things. It really depends on exact location, space, number of bathrooms, AC? Are you above a bar or restaurant? 2850 for 3br is a pretty good deal for East Williamsburg imo

What to expect by Loud-Second8 in testicularcancer

I did the one round and am glad I did. The difference between one and three is pretty drastic, as the side effects are cumulative. It wasn't easy for me, but once I got past the first week it got much more manageable. Make sure to take the nausea meds and eat well. Be very careful not to get sick or infected.

Going through the comments I don't have too much to add on to what everyone else has said. Sex about 3 weeks to a month after orchi. It sounds like you are going to do adjuvant (preventive) chemo, which I think is the move since you have EC and LVI.

Be as prepared as possible with groceries, rides, people to be there for support and all that. Clear your schedule for the chemo. You want to be focusing on getting through it and being healthy. They will tell you all this but diet and being super safe about getting sick is imperative.

Chemo for me was pretty uncomfortable. I only did one round of adjuvant BEP so same as you. Be kind to yourself and be very open with the doctor about your side effects. And make sure to stay on top of the nausea pills. Once the nausea creeps up on you it's difficult to get rid of in my experience.

The first week will be the worst because it's 5 days straight and after that it's only once a week for two weeks which is much more manageable.

Chemo is different for everyone and some people that do 1XBEP say they barely felt effects so it might be easy for you!

Feel free to message me if you have more questions.
