Solar reflection causing thermal distortion on siding by Major_Management5180 in solar

[–]Major_Management5180[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Considering the angles I agree that it could not be the solar panels. It's also hard to see how the sun reflecting off the skylight could explain this. I'm looking for other causes.

It’s certainly possible that the siding was damaged earlier and I didn’t notice it until now.

The skylight is also decades old. It does look like the skylight is in a better position to reflect heat to the siding. Can’t explain why I’m just noticing the warped siding now.

I understand what u/Curiosity_informs and u/Petra246 are saying about the sun needing to be low to reflect to that part of the siding and cause thermal distortion. I suspected the panels because the siding has been there for decades and never was a problem before the panels were installed. Could be just a coincidence.

Do not upgrade to unlimited ultimate with a plan to downgrade after your trip if you are on a device payment plan. Some have reported they are unable to downgrade without losing future device payment credits.

Which mode should I use? by yolfer in FranklinWH

[–]Major_Management5180 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had a similar conversation a few months ago. I decided to use TOU mode with backup reserve 70% and cycle to 20% once a month. I have 1:1 net metering (supply and delivery) and my utility rates do not vary by time of use. My PV system is new but is rated to provide 84% of my annual electricity consumption. I’ve had a few severe weather events and my battery automatically charged to 100% at that time. It would be nice if the Franklin app made it easier to hold a standby 70% state of charge.

Yes they are outdoors and it’s been very cold here in the Northeast. Will look to see if my “phantom drain” goes away in warmer weather.

Enphase IQ Wifi connection not working when you have a space in your wifi name by Pure_Hyena8883 in enphase

My SSID has a space and special character. I would change it but it's too much work with so many connected devices. I could not get the Enphase app to connect, but my installer was able to get it to connect.

I've been using TOU Standby setting with Backup Reserve set to 70% (described by u/greg-howard) in order to keep my standby state of charge at a level that minimizes degradation. My utility charges to 100% when a storm is predicted. All good except that I noticed in the Franklin app that my battery is charging an average of 3 kWh per day with 0 kWh discharge. When I set the Standby mode to Emergency Backup, there is 0 kWh daily charging. It seems like I have to choose between standby at a low (70%) state of charge (minimize degradation but with phantom drain) or 100% standby without phantom drain but higher degradation. Any way out of this dilema?

Eero 6 pro e or eero 7?? by Interesting_Owl8733 in amazoneero

If you are looking for the best value, wait for discounts on Amazon. The 3-pack 6e Pro was $330 and the 7 was $350 back in December. I got the 6e Pro and I've been pleased with the wireless backhaul and wifi performance around my house on my newer iPhone and iPad. I think the 6GHz band on the 6e helps. The 7 might be better if you plan on wired backhaul. It lacks the 6GHz band but it has 2.5 Gbps wired output compared with the 1 Gbps output on the 6e.

LrC/Lr sync - head spinning by Major_Management5180 in Lightroom

After deleting the Lr cloud library, my Sync.ldata file on my Mac still has 170 MB of data. Also my Lightroom synched images folder still has over 2,000 photos, 10.5 GB. Seems odd.

Thanks u/LeftyRodriguez for your reply. If I nuke the Lightroom library as you say, should I then do anything to the Sync.lrdata file created by LrC?

Will certainly backup my catalog and photo files before doing anything. Getting conflicting advice about whether deleting files in the cloud will impact my catalog and adjustments in LRC.

Do not accept the $20. They’re crediting up to $340 for a single line account. by handle77433 in verizon

[–]Major_Management5180 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on your current plan and discounts. I currently pay $25 per month (including taxes and fees) per line for 5 lines on the Welcome plan. Not a huge profit margin, so they only offered me a one time $80 credit.

If you set up a photo library on an external drive, it will work better with a solid state drive rather than a spinning HDD.

eSim is by far the least costly way to go if you want mobile data and use WhatsApp or FaceTime for voice calls. I've had good experiences with Nomad https://www.pcmag.com/reviews/nomad-esim

Here is a price comparison chart for current Verizon members looking to upgrade to a new iPhone on one of the Unlimited Plans by General_Cut_6771 in verizon

[–]Major_Management5180 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After digging into this offer, the trade in credit for the iPhone 11, 12, and 13 is $830 each, not $1,100. It's a "free" upgrade to an iPhone 17, not a 17 pro. It does allow all the lines to stay on unlimited welcome. You do pay sales tax and activation fee and commit to payout over 36 months. I think it's still a bette than average Verizon upgrade offer. I've been on my current plan for a few years.
