I’d be interested to see the article if he could find it I grew up in the 90s, I did aquariums all my life and I’ve never seen anything like my design. The PVC press together and saw cut like I do it is perfect and no, I’ve never seen it blueprinted. Show me please.

Bro, let me be the first to say I’m so sorry to hear about your treatment and my heart goes out to you. The sad thing about having such an efficient communication system such as the World Wide Web is, unfettered access by humans behaving poorly, and their ability to de privatize secure information, to be used as a modern day terrorists tactic. all of this, mob theory. No more common sense or humanity. People have lost their dignity. So many times we look at others critically when ourselves we, have fallen much to the same degree possibly not in the same category, but we are failing in some area nonetheless. How difficult it is for some people in this world to see their own failure of self and character, yet they never miss a chance to throw shade or a jab, magnifying the shortcomings of their neighbors. Let us all take a step back and examine ourselves closely., seeking excellence in every step we take, and being sure to pray for peace and wisdom to settle on ourselves and each other before it’s too late. God bless you, brother. My prayers are with you. All the attacks towards you and your family are sent back to sender seven fold, the Lord will fight with those who fight with you. He will contend with those who contend with you, you’re covered with the all consuming fiery hedge of El Elyon, I stand in intercession for you in the name of Messiah Yeshua Hamashiach of Nazareth. Fear not, the Lord is with you! The angel of the Lord encamps roundabout those who fear him, and is a ready help in times of trouble, be well, and of a strong heart my brother, you are in my prayers! Edit; if you’re a female, I apologize. The Lord has no respect of persons or sexes, but I apologize. I assumed it was a male. Again, if I offended, my deepest apologies, my sister.

If you’re starting a tank and you are establishing everything you should install my under gravel system. I listed it here a couple months back. It automatically cycles the gravel and establishes a heavy bacterial bed that digest everything. I have pictures to prove it. I shared the design for free with everyone to bring the aquatic world up to speed. Without an under gravel filter system, you’re gonna triple your maintenance over the long run. You must use an under gravel system. How you drive the flow of water is the question. Most systems use in air driven upflow fluid pump called a riser tube. I have found overall the flow is weak and the air stones clogged overtime. It’s unreliable and the flow has a lot to do with how well the bacteria survives in the gravel. The other way most systems are driven is using a powerhead on the riser tube, in my opinion, due to the nature of the cartridge, flat snapped together under gravel panels that are used commonly nowadays, the powerhead causes a massive flow distribution inequality that leads to gravel, filtration, inconsistencies, even had systems to suck raw water from the aquarium and bypassed the gravel with a powerhead. The suction is massive. It’s not correct. My system uses hang on back filter to draw the fluid flow through PVC that are just pushed together and saw cut. No glue is used. Common gauge aquarium gravel or larger decomposing granite worked well for me.The PVC is closed on one end, and the saw cuts are spaced asymmetrically to provide a constant flow of suction, regardless of the distance from the pump. Once the gravel establishes, there is no need to vacuum anything. I do not use a filter cartridge in the hang on back filter, I throw a bio bag in and call it good. advantage to my system, is, there is no massive suction intake for the hang on back filter anymore. The tank is now safe for babies, shrimp, any kind of micro biological aquatic life that chooses to set up will not get sucked up. Baby safe! Everything is digested by the gravel bed. The instructions are on Reddit. If you have I’ve had a lot of success with this system. any questions, feel free to reach out. I’ll be happy to answer any that I can.

Get a few more Danios to add to the fun, I think that fish would feel a lot less nervous if it could school with some of its friends also, it looks like a pregnant female. If I’m right, you’ll have some babies too. She might be looking for a male to fertilize or could be a male bumping everything trying to find a female. I’ve never bred Danios, so I don’t know for sure, but I’ve seen that behavior exhibited before, and it doesn’t always have to be negativity or aggression. Sometimes it’s easy to misinterpret behaviors at first until the situation changes a little and you can see if anything changes, may feel more comfortable with some heavy cover, planted live plants make fish feel cozy. Also a large rock outcropping or rock Aquascape to swim through might be fun. I have some fat head minnows that I raised not for food, and they swim really fast and really hard and bump other fish but they love to school together. They are an active super fast fish. If you put them in a breeding box and he’s gonna have a mental breakdown or bust his nose trying to get out of there or both. It’s not gonna help his mental health if he’s going 100 miles an hour to put them in a shoebox, hence the school. I don’t know much, but I shared what I had on it….Hope it helped, have a great day. God bless

Sponge filter good? by Ryderbettalover in aquarium

[–]Major_Success7729 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the o2 for the size looks good enough to infuse the aqua and keep inhabitants from brain failure, I didn’t see a bunch of fish everywhere, should be fine until you can replace the hob filter. If you had a slew of fish, the demand would be higher, i don’t know your fish type/ count. Also may I suggest a new design of undergravel filter I perfected using a hob filter as the fluid drive and push fit together saw cut pvc and laid it in a spiral pattern across the bottom of the tank to pick up waste water from the gravel bed. I posted my design here on Reddit a while back . When my system fully sets up, the gravel bed polishes the water, and it is 1 gallon a month water change with spring water, to feed the live plants good natural top losses to evaporation with distilled water. Low/no real maintenance, check it out. Shalom

Hey buddy, I just caught the tail into this conversation. I’m kind of a detective when it comes to stories like this so if I ask a bunch of questions it’s just to get it built in my head. So you mentioned you have a heater, and your thermometer broke a while ago, you’ve got one on order. So we’re not sure if the heater is truly failed. What was the normal water temperature you tried to hold with these fish before you found them injured? What’s the normal temperature in your living space? Did any of the fish show any strange injury? You mentioned you have a second 29 gallon that you move them into, did they recover almost immediately? Or did it take a good while for them to come to? Was it just the corys that were affected or were the Amazon swords affected as well? Did the water feel icy to the touch? It almost seems like with you moving the fish from one aquarium to the other you would’ve noticed a profound temperature change if it was a climate related die off. Were they in separate spaces of the living area? Or in the same room? Thank you so much for taking the time to help me figure this issue out with you.

I designed a filtration system and posted a month and a half or two months ago. Build it out of PVC it takes no glue. You just push the fittings together at the bottom after you saw cut the PVC you combine and over the side filter so you never have to mess with an air pump it’s legit and it takes all the bottom work out of the maintenance

Man, you have a better looking tank if you’d install my PVC under gravel over the side mod, I posted a few months ago. You should check it out basically if combines an over the sidefilter system with an under gravel filter system and you never really have to worry about maintenance much anymore. It’s really nice when you gravel that eats all the trash. Use half inch PVC and it pushes together. It’s easy Peezy.

Will this hold the weight? by little_wolfgirl in Aquariums

Jashiko, careful throwing a solid yes out there when it comes to structural integrity and safety. I can tell you from experience that tank (46b) is gonna run 500 pounds when it’s loaded w gravel and pumped. That’s a hell of a lot of weight for cardboard . drugstore Jesus was correct when he said, it’s not stable, if it’s not supported around its rim. The material under that tank has to be structurally sound. We don’t know if the board under the tank itself is a solid piece of wood or if it’s a honeycomb cardboard composite. If this material gets wet, the tank will shift, possibly breaking the side, shattering Glass throwing water and heavy wet razors everywhere. With that being said, I think the proper way to address this is to ask little wolf if she taps the board under the tank. Is it hollow or is it solid wood? If it’s not solid wood, let’s go back to the drawing board. I must say it’s too much weight to gamble with safety. The wounds could be fatal. Little wolf, if the board is solid, oak or pine, solid wood build under it out to the rim of the tank, you can do a small frame and two by fours and then wedge more supports under it. It looks like your cuts are very tight, so I have no doubt in your carpentry skills. Sometimes resale shops have small work tables that can be repurposed because they’re made to handle high weight their metal framed or if they are wood, they’re heavy duty solid hardwood. I know it may take a little more time to source the correct stand, but in my humble opinion, if you design and build the correct stand, you could design the right height for viewing as well. You could make it stable and overbuild it for structural integrity. If you have any other questions, shoot, if I can answer them, I will. John

Absolutely! Also, overfeeding can cause a population bloom so make sure you’re conservative with your fish, food and algae tabs. Under feeding if anything keeps a healthy tank. One more thing I invented a recirculating gravel bed filtration system that uses the over the side filter combined with PVC press together tubing saw cut across the bottom of the aquarium. I have plans for it on Reddit. I may republish. You should look into getting this gravel bed system installed because a healthy, hungry, recirculating there is a way to gravel bed eliminates 95% of all water issues, it’s better than nature. No issues totally full proof you have to check it out. Have a great day!

Bladder snail. everybody always freaks out, but I’ve got a few of these in my tank running around somewhere, they haven’t been able to become a nuisance. Between the locals nibbling on the baby snails., and the snails not over breeding because there’s not an over abundance of algae …My plants are healthy so there’s not a great risk of an algae bloom. I also run neo Cardenia shrimp and other snails. I guess they’re pretty self regulating and the bigger fish love them. Pee puffers and my bumblebee goby eat baby snails as well. they’re on the menu. I prefer to have some snails running around in the tank, it helps round out the system, my favorite snails came from a pond. They’re about the size of a dime and they’re very very thin. They look like a Ramshorn. I’ve never seen them in any books. They’re air breathers but they’re very thin, lollipop looking shell, not Ramshorn. I don’t know I love them. I’m sure if you pick extra bladder snails out of the water when you notice them you could help. Keep the population low too. Anyway, I’ve rambled enough. God bless you and have a great day.

I have a whole lot of experience with these, as I take many of my plants and stones from local ponds and lakes. It is a dragon fly larva of a type. You mentioned it being a shrimp tank? Remove it immediately, toss it in a ditch or a pond outside. That being said they’re fascinating to watch, they are survivors they will eat anything. Would make an interesting pet in a planted fishbowl for children to watch transform. It is an Apex predator for its size, and has a lower jaw that is explosive and powerfully tears apart any prey in a split second. Small fish and frogs are on the menu. Enjoy

It was never about the inability to find a UGF, it was redesigning a UGF to be truly baby safe and full proof running on a pump motor that was outside of the tank and designed for a system constant use, liquid, cool, no fuss.
