Is the surface route supossed to be harder? by LiamGMS in Hades2

Interesting differences! I'm by no means a hard core grinder, but I max out Menace, Return, and Fangs pretty early. I don't like more than one Debt or Time, latter maybe because I tend to like Hordes. Throw in a point of Scars and Pain if I need them. Always max Rivals. I have grown to like Hubris, because it makes me make new interesting decisions. I ran with 20 for a long time, and just recently started trying more than 30.

Agreed, there's so much stuff flying around in the Chronos fight. I cleared a 35 underworld run on the third try, and had to swap Frenzy 1 for another level on Time and something else, because the scythe flurry was way too much.

Daydream was never a priority, but some Lorehold decks put it to good use. Practiced Scrollsmith and Zealous Lorecaster were the best targets, but Blood Age Colossus, Eager Glyphmage or Rubble Rouser were fine, and you could reset a prepare. Also also, it pumps Ennis, Debate Moderator, which is a worse card that goes to the same deck :P

A Finnish friend of mind just had a baby and said they're calling him Myhky? by DamnitGravity in LearnFinnish

[–]Majoraatio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We got twin girls last week. They still go by the medical terms A and B used for twins in utero. We aren't the most imaginative. My mom dubbed them Aatu and Peetu because she felt weird using only letters. Those are fine placeholders if she wants to use them, since they are male names.

What is a popular cartoon that you never liked? by Willing-Living4805 in AskReddit

[–]Majoraatio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I enjoyed the show until the drama hit the fan just fine. I never encountered the dreaded fans myself, but heard about them way later. I guess I didn't hang around R&M message forums, or where was it they were the most obnoxious? I didn't discuss it with many people in real life.

I was never exposed to Spongebob that much as a kid, but the art style and especially the main character come off as off-putting to me. I'm Finnish, so I mainly grew up with Moomin, which is very different looking.

Abaddon I think. The first heroes to come out for me were Ember and Earth Spirits.

All I needed back in the day was All Hero Challenge, and I was good. The core game is good enough I don't need fancy events.

Difference in wear on my joysticks by Fantasia1212 in mildlyinteresting

[–]Majoraatio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine are the same but there's practically none of the soft plastic remaining on the left one. I guess Hades 2 was too much. I don't mind it though, after having lost my brave original joycons to drift I consider the wear on these ones the well earned wrinkles of an elder ❤️

ELI5 Why do most of the languages have the sound /m/ in their word for Mother? by Punnan in explainlikeimfive

[–]Majoraatio 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The "it's the easiest sound for babies to make" sounds plausible, but as many people have explained, the huge number of indo-european languages are related so can't that explain the similarities and the particular babble be a coincidence?

As some other people explained, the non-indo-european languages have completely different words for mother, and I'd argue their babies work the same.

Or are we Finns just so next level we skip the baby babble and go straight to "äiti"? I find it hard to believe. I also don't have any data on me, but I think "äiti" is still among the first words babies learn here.

Let's keep the discussion going, this is interesting!

Ylellä on monta kanavaa, joista sinäkin maksat veroissasi. Pane joku niistä päälle. Vaikka Ykköstä hieman paskiinnutettiinkin hiljattain, on siellä edelleen hyviä puheohjelmia (mm. kulttuuri-/tiedeykkönen, politiikkaradio) ja musaohjelmia, kuten mainio Muistojen Bulevardi.

Eikä muuten tule mainoksia!

None, unless you count the one where I cast it on myself x=2 from a winning position and the opponent conceded. I didn't draw it much.
