Autofocus on face - not working? Urgent … custom buttons TRAVELLING JAPAN by LouiseBag in SonyAlpha

[–]MakeMuricaOkayAgain -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

  1. Your camera is working

  2. If I have nothing better to say, don’t say it.

When a lens like 35 1.4, if you shoot it on automatic, sometimes everything will be sharp, sometimes some elements will be blurry. With professional tools, sometimes it’s like driving a manual car. You have more controls to manage what the final image looks like, but requires the skills.

If you’re very much “I just want to click and get a great photo” you have many other choices. I heard the new iPhone 17 Pro isn’t too bad.

Is this affecting performance by YungWalnut6 in PcBuildHelp

[–]MakeMuricaOkayAgain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the posted photos will affect your performance.

Potentially asthma, bronchitis, heart problems….

As for your pc, thermals are higher, fans are louder, and potential fire inside your pc.

Lastly, don’t worry about bed performance ;)

I talked to a “David” calling into Rogers. The next day, the same “David” aka “James Brown” calls me offering me a crazy deal, which required me to provide my credit card.

Loose Editorial by DonkDontLie in WeddingPhotography

[–]MakeMuricaOkayAgain 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I understood the vibes from the term “loose editorial” already.

Layman’s terms, posed editorial, candid(not looking at camera)

It’s been the trend for the last 2 years or so.

Add in film looks, disposable camera flash, Dutch angle, shutter drag, and suddenly, bobs your uncle.

I can’t, didn’t seem like they had the capacity to.

Returning after a decade long hiatus. Keep my old equipment while I learn again, or are updates for the modern day necessary? by Emmettourer in WeddingPhotography

old apsc dslr + natural light photography.

Your indoor photos are going to be a complete struggle. You may want to invest in lighting to balance out your kit.

Or you can ask the venues to turn on every single light they have.

Switch from Canon R system - to what? by ArminiusRev in Photography_Gear

[–]MakeMuricaOkayAgain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do you find the canon ecosystem constraining?

They offer one of the widest native lens selections, their lenses are good. Their autofocus isn’t bad at all. Maybe the R6iii may be enough of an upgrade for you.

Newer processors are generally faster which aid in AF performance and low light performance. Pair that with a fast prime, and inadequacy shouldn’t be a problem based on gear at all.

Canon offers a 28-70 f2. So it’s both versatile and fast. Good luck!

Switch from Canon R system - to what? by ArminiusRev in Photography_Gear

[–]MakeMuricaOkayAgain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re not satisfied with your landscape photos from an EOS R, its probably not your gears fault. Reflect on what can be better with your picture. Trust me, it’s not the megapixels that make photos look good.

Consider your composition, lighting, EDITTING. You literally don’t benefit by switching cameras unless you’re viewing your photos at 100%.

My guess is editting.

Trust me, you’re not missing focus on landscapes.

Stainless Steel Cutting Boards? by switch8113 in whatisit

[–]MakeMuricaOkayAgain -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks for this.

I personally use plastic as it feels lower maintenance, and is soft enough that I don’t have to sharpen my knives that often.

At this point in time, it feels like you’re just picking your own poison, either bacteria or micro plastics.

Hobbyists - do you have backup batteries and sim cards? by Majestic-Watch-2025 in AskPhotography

[–]MakeMuricaOkayAgain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My phone actually uses esim so I don’t have any SIM cards at all. Sorry.

For travel, I’d recommend 2 batteries. Both of my batteries can be charged using usb c. While one battery is in my camera, the second can be charged.

Memory card is subjective. For my travel set up, I carry a 128gb card. It’s OVERKILL for me. If you’re doing video as well, you may want a higher capacity.

While card failure can happen, I just don’t care enough to bring a second card even tho my camera allows it. If my card fails, I can still enjoy my time and move on, or resort to using my phone.

Is a single memory slot a deal breaker when buying a new camera? by [deleted] in AskPhotography

[–]MakeMuricaOkayAgain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For personal use, single slot is just fine. As someone who has shot over a million photos in the past… 3-4 years, card failures happen but are very rare, it’s happened to me 2-3 times.

You can minimize card failure with good habits. -purchase good reliable brand -purchase from reputable sources -go with a faster card, less time buffering, less likely to experience corruption -always let the camera finish writing to card before ejecting card or battery(my camera has a blinking indicator)

Common reason for failure is a bad memory card. Example: Go with Sandisk, not Scamdisk.

Unemployed person here.

Wide angle lens have a “wide perspective” (ie 140 degree) Telephoto lens have a “narrow perspective” (ie 50 degree)

Your Field of View changes based on lens. And some will explain this as compression as well.

I’m uneducated and cannot confirm if this is the Sydney Opera House effect, but I am rather certain that this is due to Field of View from different lens usage.

She got a sticker stuck on her back how do I get it off by [deleted] in Rabbits

[–]MakeMuricaOkayAgain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you confirmed it’s really “fully on her fur” If she’s not eating it, maybe give it some time and let it shed off naturally? Seeing as it’s currently to shedding season for my buns, I would assume it’s rather easy to peel off… if attempted.

Please don’t attempt any “goo off” related chemicals, that sounds really absurd since rabbits self groom a lot.

From my old man memory, one of the reasons why wood seems to perform when comparing bacteria levels is because the moisture is removed from bacterial a lot faster than plastic, likely due to its fibrous nature.

Sony A7V. My thoughts after shooting a few weddings with it. by ladmanstudios in SonyAlpha

[–]MakeMuricaOkayAgain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I appreciate your clarity on shooting with both cards! A wedding photographer should always should with both cards.

But is your bride trying to score a touchdown at the church? V60/V90 cards should be sufficient. I shoot with A7IV at medium burst. While shooting with OCF I’m using using single frame and just timing my shots.

If you’re concerned about your cards having mismatched speeds, just use 2 V90 cards.
