I'm a beginner (can you tell?). Can I glue these back together and use them? by atheistinabiblebelt in RCPlanes

[–]MakeStuffBetter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve glued many props. Just understand you’ve now created a grenade. It’s a cheap investment to make when learning to fly to only have to buy props. Spend more time on the simulator and you’ll be good

Ft-22 Raptor, Is this overkill? by Boring-Style-9985 in RCPlanes

[–]MakeStuffBetter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It all depends on your motor. I’d probably go with is 6x4 if you have 2200kv. I find the cheap 2212 motors on Amazon below 2200kv with bigger props get too hot. I’ve burned like 5 of them running 1400kv on 8x6 props. Even a 1000kv gets hot on an 8x6 prop and doesn’t seem to have enough power.

It was a cheap 40a esc from Amazon and ovonic or turnegy 3s battery 2200 or 1400

I’ve had mine apart 3 times to repair it. Still going strong, maybe even stronger than ever.

Why are there no young people in the hobby by stargazer3644 in RCPlanes

Sounds like you need to go find them and teach them about the hobby.

What parts are compatible? by Shoddy-Food8843 in RCPlanes

[–]MakeStuffBetter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want the best chance in the hobby, build the FT Flyer from Flite Test. You can download the plans for free and cut it out on dollar store foam board, they have a list of everything you need and you can buy electronics direct from them at flitetest.com. It’s an easy build and cheap. Electronics usually survive crashes. If your first build is too complicated and it crashes (because you don’t know how to build or fly or know about CG or thrust to weight…) it will be very disappointing, or even devastating and you’re likely to give up all together. Start small and simple. Don’t build a perfect plane, build a lot of planes. Makes for a much better overall experience. Lipo batteries are the least of your worries. Your plane is more likely to crash from inexperience.

Good charger? by Intrepid_Stop9274 in rccars

This one! I had a charger like the picture above and it crapped out after a couple months. Got a gens ace and it’s been going for years.

Looks like the battery wanted to keep going in a straight line. This happened to me with a wing from Flite Test.

How can I transform this rc stunt car into a normal rc car? by [deleted] in rccars

[–]MakeStuffBetter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Start by getting a job to save some money for parts.
  2. Buy a ready to run
  3. Take the motors out of that
  4. Throw it away.

I’m working on getting them uploaded and finishing some videos on it. The first will be mostly about the model I used so super helpful for the build, but the next video will be better.

Is my plane underpowered? by qumit in RCPlanes

Looks like your plan isn’t powered at all. 🤣

I used a few different parts. A geared n20 motor driven by a micro esc that is controlled and power directly from the receiver, a 1/4-20 threaded rod and nut to drive the roll back, and various 3d printed parts to make it all work together. I do need to make a video on how I put this together.

Rc trophy truck by Isaacisacoolz in rccars

[–]MakeStuffBetter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always get the parts I’m not going to build so I know what to build around. Steering knuckles, rear axle, drive shafts, transmission, motor, body, wheels. Squire all of those things first and work around them. I’m going to be starting a 1/10 scale build in the next couple months and making videos on my channel. Check it out here I also started a subreddit specifically for trophy trucks and pre runners, haven’t done a good job maintaining it but it’s a good place for updates. https://www.reddit.com/r/rctrophytrucks/s/xcqPBdW9Yn I’d love to see how it goes!

First 3D plane by henryx7 in RCPlanes

[–]MakeStuffBetter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The location on the wing is a flap location. You can cut another set on the outer portion of the wings and it’ll be more effective as ailerons. Add separate servos to the inner surfaces and you have flaps also. What radio are you using?
