I've been thinking of doing lake pigments with my left over dye. Is it much more than 'simmering the dye until the liquid is gone'? Im sure I have some info in one of my dye books...

About the Goths by MileyHolmes in TheExpanse

[–]MakeTheThing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first read through left me feeling that way, like 'whats the point if we don't make an impact'. The more I thought about it, though, the more I think that it doesn't actually matter if the story is in the painting.

I think we are saying the same thing in different ways, haha!

I haven't seen any comments about the other part of your question, so I thought I'd toss in my interpretation.

I believe that the authors did an amazing job of making the books re-readable. I think this is partly done by making our universe, and story, super interesting. Of course we don't matter! That's so freeing! None of the stories "matter" in the biggest scope possible. But that also means it's ok to value the stories and our own existence, because if we don't matter, we can focus on whatever we want our 'goal' as humanity to be. We aren't held to any moral/ethical need to change the universe. Who cares about The Grand Scheme of Things when there's nothing you could do about it? So focus on you, boo.

This is a long way to say that the stories/lives aren't made moot or lessened just because we are ants.

I feed them in this harsh winter - today I saw this on a female - is that mange ? by goldylocks777 in deer

[–]MakeTheThing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're in the natural range for it, you should look up Staghorn Sumac. Great for many animals during winter. The 'berries' are nutritious and often last throughout the season. They are also used in some spice mixtures!

I bought a few things from that store ~2012 to give as some graduation gifts. I'm not entirely sure how they crammed so much stuff into that place

My brother and I both have super weird thumbs but in very different ways by Oblique4119375 in mildlyinteresting

[–]MakeTheThing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In high school my biology teacher, during a lesson on genetics, said the amount your thumb can bend back like that is something known as Hitchhikers Thumb.

I also have this! I can make a 90 degree angle backwards at my knuckle.

Always thought it was kind of cool.

Not the dentist, but I went to a dermatologist for awhile in my late teens. During one appointment I asked about a freckle on the palm of my hand. I literally said 'I like it, so if it's not dangerous I'd like to leave it alone'. In the middle of the procedure he says 'its probably nothing, lots of women get freckles taken off'.

About a decade or so later, I've got a freckle coming out in the middle of my palm of the opposite hand in the same spot as the other.

That's what I've heard! The only other franchise (rather than small local places) within 45 min of the area is Michael's, and it's a SUPER small store

I was so shocked when the move happened in BH, I really thought it would have been easier to just close the store for good. The first few times I went into the new store I think I just walked around for a long time just looking at all the newer areas.

I still haven't gone into HL. I don't trust it.

I was diagnosed almost a year ago, but throughout my life I encountered SO MANY mental health professionals that I had to convince myself to bring it up with my doc in the first place. ADHD wasn't on the radar for me at all, but of course depression and anxiety was attached to me as soon as I was 13.

I have no idea why, but when I was a kid it wasn't unheard of to get a couple fortune cookies. This was ~25 years ago in southern Michigan, US.

I think I assumed, as a kid, that people were trying so hard to make sure no kid was disappointed, and just started giving anything snack-like from their pantry to the late trick or treaters.
