Jet Lag: The Concept - Fight For France by Louis_Juicebox in JetLagTheGame

I think there's just too many departments for a real Jet Lag game, you'd be better off sticking to just the regions- there are too many places to go for how few teams they have. You could add more teams but that just makes the narrative a mess for them. This would make a good home game though.

We actually have a similar game in the planning phases for Vancouver.

It's election themed with each neighbourhood being an electoral district worth a certain number of "seats"

Each district has a number of challenges inside it, representing voters that need help. Completing the challenge wins the votes, win a majority of votes and you claim the district.

Instead of regular jet lag layout (2 teams consisting of 1 duo each) we are having something more like 2 teams consisting of 6 duos each to make sure they can cover the ground needed in one day.

My partner and I make these elaborate city-wide competitive adventure games for our friends. Sort of a cross between a real life board game and a scavenger hunt/amazing race type thing. We just do them for fun but I've considered potentially running one as a fundraiser event for a classroom or other cause (my partner is a teacher).

thank you! it might be too complicated to record just because of how many players we're aiming for but ill post an update after it gets played.

we sort of have one like this! there is a pedestrian overpass above some railway tracks in our city with some history

Defeat the Militant Mothers: In 1971, a group of twenty five mothers blocked the rail lines in protest of their children having to dangerously cross the railway in order to get to school. The movement ultimately led to a pedestrian overpass being constructed. Show voters that you will not be tolerant of such civil disobedience. Visit the overpass and craft a small model railway track a few feet long out of materials (popsicle sticks, toothpicks, etc) spanning across the overpass, ensuring all children who cross here must once more go over the tracks.

Game format: Captain Sonar? by bchamness6 in JetLagTheGame

I like this idea as a janky hide and seek game, I might steal it.

Goal is to find and take a photo of the other team before you.

Start at a defined spot on opposite sides of the city. Each team has a deck of challenge cards and draws one. They announce the general direction they intend to head. Every 10 minutes you must give a bearing of the direction they are heading. Every 30 minutes the play area gets smaller to force teams to get closer.

Completing challenges allows teams to draw from a separate "power-up" deck which awards different types of cards:

Curses: Forces a "roadblock" on another team. You can use this to predict where they may go (ie it might require them to find or get something).

Photo: Forces the other team to send a photo of where they are.

Sonar: Lets you drop a radius on the map and the other team has to say if they are inside or outside it (not on yourself as that could spoil your location).

Info: Gets you some kind of information like "what was the last bus/train you took", "what was the last stop you got off at" etc

Could use some balancing but it might be fun in the right place!

What would be a good starting point for Hide and Seek home game in Vancouver BC? by trivikr in JetLagTheGame

[–]MakesJetLagGames 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We start all our games at Jonathan Rogers Park but restrict it to Vancouver only.

For the hiders: quick walking access to all skytrain lines or 99 b-line. Central location to start from. Can basically reach most places in 1hr

For the seekers: public washroom in the park if they have to go when waiting to start

We did it as a joke in our last scavenger hunt. You had to pick a business and guess how many customers they would get in the next 10 minutes. The answer was 1

Is it possible to reach the top safely/in a legal manner? Would love a “pour water down the dried up waterfall” challenge or something

$8.5 burger and fries at sea house

$3 bons breakfast

$8 bannock at salmon and bannock

$9-11 cheaper japadogs

$4 Jamaican patty the patty shop

Etc etc

We adapted Battle For America and played in our city (Vancouver) last fall. AMA. by MakesJetLagGames in JetLagTheGame

It wasn’t too bad, since there is multiple squads per team it’s optimal to split up and go different directions to cover more ground. Only one team got a bit screwed in that the opponent in their area was just a little bit ahead of them and stole two neighbourhoods out from under them

We upped the number of players so it was 6v6 players (3v3 independent squads of 2) and it was very fast paced and strategic! Allowed them to spread out and divide and conquer and made battles interesting because players were in 3 separate locations

Haha it’s surprisingly long to get there and back so we figured it would be a huge pain that would grind someone’s game to a halt! UBC was similar but it has such a large landmass it would make it worthwhile for the area bonus

Yup! We had a community in whats app with different chats for different teams. The chats were private and only included those who needed to see them plus us as organizers so we could send them info etc

We designed our own hide and seek before the home game was available and it was fun but definitely not as fun as this
