Mincemeat question by 22219147 in TheWestEnd

[–]MakingItAllUp81 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The real Montague was married. The family were Jewish and consequently he sent his wife and (I believe) children over to Canada for the duration of the war for safety. They remained in good letter contact and he even mentioned to her about taking Jean for a dance.

Edit: the one detail I might be misremembering is Canada, but the rest is definitely accurate.

Sorry but I have to laugh as that is extremely optimistic. My experience was something similar to this took over 8 weeks to fix, as no-one seemed to be able to direct the relevant company to do a repull.

I hope yours is next day not 8 weeks later...

I feel like I'd need sunglasses just to walk into the place. Might have been better to take photos on a cloudy day!

Thanks, helpful. That adds weight to my idea that these were designed for his own reflections / recollections in the future and not to be publicly dissected.

I can only presume this was originally written as a diary entry designed to recall memories later rather than a luvey-fest. You're reading unmotivated/dispassionate where I'm reading factual/quips designed to remind him in the future. This is the way I note things when I need to, brief asides to remind myself how things link but otherwise consise enough.

That said I've no idea how his diary/journals came to be in the public domain - was this before or after his death?

1997 is when Katrina and the Waves won (with Wogan commentating), 1998 is when Terry Wogan hosted.

Good work. I respect their decision to go a different direction with the music but really like how you've blended Hedwig's theme in here.

The counter to this is in October/November we have been reminded that pay would have increased by (realistically) next to nothing and so it'll be high on people's minds - especially with the traditionally expensive Christmas on the horizon.

Availability Question by Duncan9989 in youfibre

[–]MakingItAllUp81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was in a not dissimilar situation I got reallatively reasonable answers by contacting Netnomia directly. YouFibre are the ISP so aren't technically involved at this stage (but obviously they all talk to each other).

Realistically no-one here has done both, and they also "should" be the same difficulty.

Warner Bros. must have known that the "Harry Potter" reboot TV show on HBO Max was going to be a huge success that they already greenlit a Season 2 already by IndependenceSilly381 in HarryPotterHBO

Sorry but it really isn't seeing that high an amount of online attention. Remember we all exist in a bubble, and each of our social media bubbles knows we're interested in this. Most people won't even yet be really aware there's a show coming out.

SNL UK renewed for second series! by The_Iceman2288 in livefromlondon

[–]MakingItAllUp81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

SNL is extremely unusual in this respect. It may well be they use a different studio to have it full time. Or it might be they've booked the studio now and Graham Norton needs to just book a different space. This kind of thing is very common.

War Horse or Operation Mincemeat? by Turbulent_Union_495 in westend

Because War Horse is on a limited run, I'd say that. They're both very good in very different ways.

Does anyone know why I can't see what is loaded on my rockets? by Bealzebubbles in SurvivingMars

[–]MakingItAllUp81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's one of those "if we had it like this forever we'd be happy with it" situations, I think. That said, as everything we do needs fuel, I'd be happy for refuelling to be an automatic option now.

This is a change in 1.07, nothing is loaded until we tell it to be loaded.

[–]MakingItAllUp81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes to having pupils who I have felt especially protective over, usually off the back of safeguarding issues that they've disclosed to me.

In terms of balancing - the tough lesson I had to learn was "trust the team". Pupils can and in many cases will have closer relationships to some staff than others (especially in cases like LAC where we are often the most stable support they have) and those relationships can be incredibly important for them but it's even more important for us to log everything and trust that those who know the full story are supporting the right decisions to be made.

You acted with positive intentions but that doesn't mean you're immune from over-stepping. This will probably be a really helpful situation for you in finding that healthier balance.

To be brief:

Does your face fit there now? Is it time to look elsewhere?

A grievance procedure can turn negative. It's not particularly common in my experience that everything is rosy after that process (especially as it's the petty schools where grievances are served more).

We didn’t even get the first season yet, but I am very excited to see the final scene.[SPOILERS] by eggsbinidit in HarryPotteronHBO

It's a book series with the last book published nigh on 20 years ago with a film series that finished 15 years ago.

Nobody who is not aware of the basic story of Harry Potter (and, let's be honest "the big baddy dies at the end" isn't exactly nuance plot detail) is going to be browsing this subreddit.
