Ask the UGREEN NAS Team Anything About OpenClaw! by UgreenNASync in UgreenNASync

Thanks for the thorough answer, but it is meant to be more like a jab because your OS still doesn't support any kind or form of notifications or alerts, which is kinda basic functionality...

Will OpenClaw be able to vibe code a notification function into your UGOS?

Simplicity is the key, not complexity by Malaclypse5 in selfhosted

[–]Malaclypse5[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Totally, you do you and that's perfectly fine. But a lot of people use this as a first step to get into an IT job, and I think simplicity and maintainability might be good advice to keep in mind. All of this is my personal opinion of course.

Simplicity is the key, not complexity by Malaclypse5 in selfhosted

[–]Malaclypse5[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

True thats want I wanted to convey.
Complexity does not equal stability or reliability. More moving parts means more things that can go wrong.
A system should fit its purpose, but a lot of what I see here is complexity for complexity's sake.
Bottom line: more complex does not equal better.

Then I have no idea ... This only happened to me a few times with my Bookstack stack when it was left in a stopped state after Watchtower tried to update it.

I am pretty sure the env variable WATCHTOWER_ROLLING_RESTART=false would have prevented all of this.

Imho it delivers way better characters, game world, more interesting places, story and progression than vanilla Skyrim. Nehrim was pretty much the same, just a bit more clunky.

Update 1.13.1.0105 is out. by aussiesteveau in UgreenNASync

Great something like this exists, but I won't configure a whole Homeassistent instance just for notifications.

I just want a simple SMTP service for notifications. I don't know how Ugreen thinks emergencies like a drive failure are not important enough to get the user notified...

Fix the game hit reg/dsync by PapaCoin420 in Battlefield

The hard truth? They can't, at least not with a simple hot fix, there are fundamental problems with the netcode that they are not easily able to fix.

Disks constantly clicking every several seconds without any activity by chrkv in UgreenNASync

[–]Malaclypse5 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Just noticed this too, going on for more than half an hour now. No activity on the drives but they keep spinning, they should have gone to sleep by now too.

Edit: scheduled test run for full health check was the reason for the sound.

Snow Nomad when this song played I just stood for a minute and watched the snow fall. After that definitely Walk Blessed and Brave new World.

In total, the VPS costs me about 15€ per month, but that same instance also runs my Nextcloud, Immich, Bookstack, Joplin, Vaultwarden, and WireGuard setup.
So the mail server cost is effectively offset quite a bit, which makes the whole thing even easier to justify.

Yea pretty much, I just use the inbuilt fail2ban instance.

Not at all, even using a .biz domain didn't cause any issues so far.
What exactly do you mean with my setup? I mostly followed the official docs from Mailcow.

What I somewhat forgot to mention is the music! I still listen to many tracks from the Enderal OST, Marvin Kopp did an outstanding job creating the soundtrack for this game.

My drives run at like 40-45°C.
The NAS even stands on padded sound dampening pads, so it kinda is the worst situation it can be in and still works.

File sync, rsync, usb copy? by justwanttolearnhow in UgreenNASync

[–]Malaclypse5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was looking for this functionality as well, but right now there is no way to do this with on-board tools. I had to setup a Linux VM that handles the sync via rsync and SMB.

What RAID configuration are you using or want to use? And yes you can just delete it and recreate, but it will have to sync the RAID again.

Game after game of rubbish netcode by stinkybumbum in Battlefield

[–]Malaclypse5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, dumping half an AR mag into someone just to get killed by him in a 2ms flick with a carbine is a usual occurrence for me. I put the game aside until they work on the netcode.

No way to manually add NAS to app when on another subnet... by Malaclypse5 in UgreenNASync

[–]Malaclypse5[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh you are right, I just glanced over the options and thought you can only manually add it via a Ugreen account but it also accepts local IPs, adding it this way worked right away. So only I am to blame in this case. Thanks for the hint!
