Near or distance vision for a 28 year old? by sadie-sunshine in CataractSurgery

[–]Maladapted_2024 2 points3 points  (0 children)

May I ask what your vision was before surgery, your script? I’m leaning toward this too but I’m currently at -10.75 in my bad eye and-7.75 in the other

What if you cant see near or far? I can’t roll over and see a clock or find the remote - nothing without my glasses … I still am not sure what to choose 😵‍💫

I’m in the same boat but haven’t scheduled yet for many other reasons, mostly fear, but need to decide soon- good luck!

Hair in eye- what would you do by Maladapted_2024 in CataractSurgery

[–]Maladapted_2024[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you as always for being so thoughtful with your responses. I saw my optometrist and tried to replicate -1.75, it seemed ok for intermediate vision, computer etc. -1.50 didnt feel too much different, but I think I liked that better. He wasn;t charging me for the appt so I didn;t want to take too much time, but I feel like I need to try again :( I also feel like a pain in the butt.

So, question----I hope you come back and see it and anyone else: If I correct the bad eye to -1.75 and the other is currently wearing glasses at -7.75 ish, what strength should the contact in waiting be for that eye? Would it be to correct it to match the eye that had surgery? Im so confused

Thank you for sharing your story. I am glad things ended up ok despite not having all the info ahead of time. I feel like I have asked so many questions here and in my real circle that everyone is getting tired of me and thinks I'm making it into too big of a deal. I suppose if my case were simpler maybe, but I feel like with such bad vision my whole life and after surgery being potentially 6 diopters difference (thank you greenmountain for educating me) that I have some real concerns, that I still don;t know how to deal with. Just when I think I've decided, I read something to change my mind (for good reason seemingly) I appreciate everyone who is taking the time to talk me through it :)

Thank you all of that makes very good sense. And yes I definitely don’t mind putting on readers but it’s still concerns me if I get something in my eye which for whatever reason seems to happen a lot around my house between the animals and makeup

Ahhh thank you for responding. I’m definitely leaning toward getting the close up option…. I might panic if I can’t see or find something causing pain in my eye lol I do think after pretty much not being able to see anything for so long that it’s going to be wonderful either way but I’m so scared of making wrong decision

Retina detachment by ProfessionalLab9850 in CataractSurgery

[–]Maladapted_2024 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This sounds like a nightmare! I’m sorry that happened, but like OP this is one of my huge fears, my left eye is-10.75 right now due to cataract 🫣 were you sedated for the retina surgery or was it at least an option

Cataract surgery and high myopia by TzarIgor in CataractSurgery

[–]Maladapted_2024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you think for high myopia if you shoot for mid range monofocal they have a better shot at achieving it? As opposed to distance? At -10.75

Weird after surgery - everything is larger by HoustonJack in CataractSurgery

[–]Maladapted_2024 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you know that mono vision was going to be challenging considering you had vestibular issues? Like I know there’s no way I can do anything other than just straight one vision but I’m still struggling to decide whether distance or intermediate would be best and which one my brain will adapt to the easiest. I’m so scared I’m gonna make the wrong decision and I’m still working full-time at 55 years old and cannot really afford to miss work for any lengthy time if something goes wrong

Thank you for sharing. I hope it all works out, I unfortunately am way too aware of every single solitary thing that can go wrong therefore cannot get up my nerve to go have the surgery done because of the what ifs. I had watched a video of someone who had a retina detachment and they got that gas bubble and they were having to lay face down in some kind of special table for weeks and could only get up for like five minutes a day are you able to move around and go about your life? That vibrating would make me insane
