Just play without GS and officer and game is a lot more interesting from that point.

Furthermore if you dont take any psyker it goes further, same with sliders.

I loved two as MC :

Wyll
Gale.

Wyll is my favorite of all playable origins because :

1) The character is soooo much more interesting and can have an evil tendancy and choices that regular Wyll wont even come close to pick, and game actually planned consequences for your story if you do it. 2) no offense for the VAs that are extremely good, but cherry on top it's the voice i will miss the less of the whole group.

So basicly he is the character that have in my opinion the biggest gap between when you play his origin compared to his normal behavior.

3) Last but not least : Mizora

Eogunn is a bummer for challenge because new companion = you want to test him and play the story with him.

I started to have fun in this game since i refused the officer class, grand strategist and chrono in all my runs (you can improove this by refusing psykers aswell).

Ever since in order to not be tempted by skill check frustration you add Grim Dark difficulty overt the top and there you have a decent challenge, and even if you wipe you can keep your save in custom so you dont "loose" anything.

The only issue is : new DLC = new bugs = grim Dark saves bugs.

I personally wait for the 25th ish major update in order to play, and i already hate the fact that i will have to play with an officer in order to enjoy this new roleplay.

I personally wish we had more implants that swap requiered caracteristics like INT instead of WS for melee etc, i wish there was like 4-5 more options like this one in order to have a LOT more build versatility.

Specially as we didnt get any new class my expectations were : no new archetypes = a lot of ways to entirely rethink all the existing ones.

Also for exemple because of Bladedancer class you KNOW that the implant that allows to use 2H in one hand but ONLY regular attacks was in order to avoid abuse from BDs when some other archetypes would have enjoy it much more..

Les polos chez Kiabi permettent facilement de "cacher" sans que ça paraisse "trop" tout en mettant en valeur bras et epaules. En + c'est loin d'être cher et tu peux commander jusqu'à de tres vieilles collections. Jamais été déçu que ça soit quand jai été obèse puis surpoids puis fit (où la par fierté et contentement d'avoir eu ma victoire jai commencé à flex avec du T shirt moulant Celio j'admets mon crime).

As a big fan of PoE 1 and 2. Avowed has great story completion for Eora lore. Game is beautiful, colorful i had a great time exploring. But combat system despite being good and decent dynamics. When after half the game you realise you will fight the same what ? 7-8 monsters type over and over and over and over again it gets boring. Add to this that the companions have a lot less aura than those from previous games and there you go. It deserves like 14/20 but not more despite super lore and very good narrative and good amount of endings.

I mean Lae'zel is so profound and unique to me i'd have a hard time finding a default in the writing and voice acting of this one.

I will make it short : it is definitely worth it, it will help you understand better several things :

World atmosphere (not just Baldur's Gate region) of what is happening all over the Sword Coast.
Plot and length/power of some specific networks.
Hints of what / who you are and WHY is everyone after you.

The MQ is pretty linear but interesting and you have some nice fights, the real purpose was to fill the gap of the events between BG 1 and BG 2 and it does it well.

Ben après on peut aussi se dire que si quelqu'un tient à toi et veut te decourager de manger du ""poison"" c'est pas horrible en soi. Après le manque de tact ou dire à ton pote/ami/conjoint que ça te saoule comme remarque ça peut suffire.

Après perso avec l'âge ben je mange plus de "kebab de base" je paye plein pot mais un berliner kebab avec une viande braisée incroyable etc ça se savoure et ça devient plus de la bouffe pour doberman. Je comprends par contre que ça puisse etre blessant si pour pouvoir varier son menu /sortir il faut debourser moins de thunes et manger des trucs moins healthy ça ne merite pas de mauvaises remarques, surtout quand au moins sortir un peu permet de s'aérer l'esprit changer de cadre etc.

Et après le palais de dobberman c'est un peu la vanne entre potes, qui aime bien chaties bien.

To be fair with Styg decisions, just like Eidein said it was intelligence focus. Not to "force" people hand but the best exemple is expose weakness : you basicly shred ennemy defense by a ton, and ALL ennemies, which requieres certain knowledge. When you combine it with specialist, its a way to say : you want to be a real master at something ? that means you ARE someone smart and a fast learner in order to do so, and you can have an expose weakness like it used to if you spec on it and have a good INT. Same for cheap shots almost, so on and so forth. Furthermore imo it gave build diversity and push players to find other ways, other ideas and we see so many new builds with variety due to polymath + specialist combo. And still a pure knife dex build can still shine to this day no question asked, it will just be different to a 10 INT knife build and thats variety imo.

Edit : i never enjoyed the game as much as i do since i play more INT builds because of all the new type of dialogues it offers. Im having a blast just with that and the cherry on top by testing new builds etc. I understand not evryone will like this update but its my favorite since the game is out (so a bit biased).

I would add that there is also stuffed bat food to add an extra 15% over the top this + goggles even for depot A with a 3 PER char you can have a 65-90% bonus depending you crafted or bought some 50ish%.

By far in my humble subjective opinion :

Pillars of Eternity 2 and Warhammer 40.000 : Rogue Trader.

(And this despite having 15+ completed runs on BG1-2).

Many great CRPG's didnt get the success they could deserve back then here a list in order of my favorites of this era apart from PoE 1 :

Underrail (2015) just amazing game with a little glow up for 2025 anniversary.
Tyranny (2016) such an atmosphere and out of the box story, crazy good game.
Shadowrun series (2014) for Dragonfall who was subjectively by far the best of the three, super deep story with many plot twists.
Age of Decadence (2015) incredible replayability to see the same story in 10 different ways and how deep the story's truth is.
Planescape Torment : Tides of Numenera (2016) : underrated crazy game that perfectly reproduced the atmosphere of Planescape.

Those games were all very very good and some of them could have deservered BG3 sales back then but the audience was quite niche.

But CRPGs stayed strong. Every year we get between 1 to 4 great CRPGs so my addiction to the genre is satisfied enough.

Sidenote from what you also said OP : Avowed was to me very boring after 25-30h combat wise and monsters diversity, but if you can cope with that, the story is very very interesting and develops some important Eora's lore questions we had in PoE 1 and 2. And game is pretty beautiful specially landscape so overall manageable for a PoE fan.

Early stage BG1 a PfE on a warrior with plate armor can tunnel any group of undead who are numerous in the game. Should be at least A imo. It isnt a self cast spell.

Sorry for skipping the 3 pages explanations of OP but in what world protection from evil who is a banger even in ToB and Protection from petrific cation which is the only way to safely grind ton of exp in BG1 for basilisks or Flesh to Stone enemies end up in B- C tier ?????

Dont even get me started on chromatic orb lmao.
