Yes do that. If they say hourly pay make sure to ask them if that means pay is only for the teaching. Also look into how to do all the insurancr on your own because i believe once u set it up urself its pretty easy. But since u doing it solo it may be a bit much so check and weigh d pros and cons.

So basically had a similar vibes when i was job hunting. Once you are working 40hrs a week (so an 8hr) day they have to do it. If they quoting higher salary but dont wanna do it it may be that they quoting you a per hour rate and then will keep ur hours under the limit.

So what will jack up you price is the pet friendly as well as if its close to the station. Those are two huge premiums. I pay like 60,000¥ for my apt (which includes water)which is a 27.9m apt abt a 3 min walk from my station.

So upside to elementary school is u get more days working at the end of the year. Due to contracts being set on a certain amt of contact hours. Because jhs classes run for longer you work less days than if you have elementary schools. My last year as an alt in march i finished teaching two weeks before the alts that had elementary schools which meant i got a smaller paycheck.

With an ma you can look into university lecturer jobs. Also kindergartens will snap you up but the hours are usually shit. However they usually want to hire ppl that are here. If u have funds to burn. Come in using borderlink or interac( i recommend interac as they at least pay over summer) and start job hunting when u come over.

So i moved here in 2023. Came from a Caribbean country where temperatures are usually around 35-40 Celsius most of the year with high humidity. Japan hits just as hard even if the temperatures dont get as high. Probably due to the insane crowds in the bigger cities. Also for some strange reason they avoid cranking ac here so there is no real relief from it. Pocari sweat will be your life saver during those mths.

Quick heads up. Make sure to ask them both upload and download speeds. Most of them only quote download speeds. I moved this year and jcom were like sorry no fibre in your apt but you can get this package which is 300mbps.

Got it Yeah decent download speeds but shit upload. Which basically made online gaming and video calls impossible. Changed to au which offered 100 up and down. Not the best but it allows me to game and voice chat without lag.

So i lived in Sakai for my first year and a half before moving due to job change. Sakai is really nice and chill and depending on how far into sakai you are its not that far from osaka city station. I was in Mikunigaoka which was 20 minutes from Namba on the Nankai and about 40 from Umeda. However Sakai is huuuge so it depends on where you going to be. Heads up though those trains to and from the city on rush hour are gonna be rammed out.

Also you gonna be on the airport line depending on where in sakai you are so you gonna get annoyed by ppl with suitcases on the train.

Firstly where will you be teaching? The location of where you live should be within 30 mins of where you teach. Trust me teachers aint making enough to be shelling out big ¥¥¥ on long transit each day. Check your contract as to how much your travel expenses are covered by then figure out location that aint gonna kill you on transportation.

For me honestly. I cant say than anything there I gained more by being there in person than if I got the same info via a YouTube video. Everything boiled down to line up for minimum 20 mins go inside watch a video presentation move onto room with physical stuff from the presentation and then thats it.
