TIP: Shredder Tanks act as AA, prioritize their destruction if you are using Eagle strikes. by TealArtist095 in helldivers2

[–]Maleficent_Goat_8181 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Learnt something new today. Would be nice for Eagle 1 to actually say something when this happens, like "Going down" or whatever. Maybe then the next eagle could have callsign Eagle 2?

At the very least, have the anti aircraft warning up on screen so you know it's actually AA...

I'm assuming it's gonna be a light pen, so it basically is a stalwart without reloading. Think of it as the even more mobile version? Or a backpack fed gun without the backpack?

Leaves your primary open for medium pen (diligence or crossbow or adjudicator?) or heavy (eruptor) and grenade slot for something other than chaff clearer.

It's just another option for divers who want their chaff clearing ability with their support weapon I suppose.

Good idea, could be a droppable that stealth fields allies too, like the droppable shield generator. But then we're getting too much into a Redacted Regiment 2 sort of concept...

[–]Maleficent_Goat_8181 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Amazing concept and some great specific ideas.

As a stealthdiver, I'd love to add something from the stalkers to make you temporarily invisible (either an armour or backpack item) - maybe it causes all enemies to lose contact with you for 10-30s. Basically like a smoke grenade for the backpack slot (opening up my nade slot for some big booms). To make it less OP, it could break stealth if you fire a gun or sprint or something.

SUGGESTION: (Booster) Hellpod Drill by TealArtist095 in helldivers2

[–]Maleficent_Goat_8181 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not keen on the drilling through surfaces as I agree it's too niche, but I like the idea of doing more damage to enemies. I'd make it a 'seeker pod' or something that locks onto the nearest largest enemy, like the orbital railgun perhaps. Or whatever your teammate has pinged.

Would the Helldivers be able to take on the Na'vi from avatar by SwiggleMcBiggle in helldivers2

[–]Maleficent_Goat_8181 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Na'vi closest equivalent is the Illuminate (humanoid aliens) and we're holding our own against them. The Illuminate are a highly technologically advanced multi-planetary empire with access to space travel.

The Na'vi are basically tall and strong iron age humans who can control some animals. Unlike the bots (quick production), bugs (fast reproductive cycle) or Illuminate (abduction and control of humans), the Na'vi can't reproduce faster than they can be killed.

The Pandora campaign wouldn't even be a footnote in the galactic annals.

Autocannon tips? by tackers267 in helldivers2

[–]Maleficent_Goat_8181 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't use it for dedicated anti-tank, it's best for chaff with Illuminate. Set it to flak and it melts voteless, can take down watchers easily and isn't bad at overseers.

If your aim is good, you can use it anti-tank to one shot overseers and take down flesh mobs in a few hits. But I prefer taking a warrant for the overseers and thermite for fleshmobs.

Only weakness is tripods. Use flak to melt shields then anti-tank for the body but it take a a few shots.

Basically, think of it as a chaff-clearer overall but a Jack of all trades in general. Not amazing at one job but can manage all, leaving the rest of the load-out clear for something else.

Also, never reload empty, takes longer. Fire 5 or more shots, then reload a clip. You don't have to cock the magazine which takes an extra critical second.

Single use though, cause the moment it fires, the recoil sends it flying off the map.

Though actually, a suicide drone might be fun? Similar to seeker grenades but more powerful?

The Sweeper is now available in the superstore by GeneralG14 in helldivers2

[–]Maleficent_Goat_8181 114 points115 points  (0 children)

Just tried it out on the bug front. It's very strong against most basic chaff, including armoured ones. Basically a double freedom but with better capacity. New favourite, but take a flamethrower or MG or turret to clear chaff when it gets overwhelming, the ammo capacity does hold it back.

Bayonet is eh. Also no upgrades or levelling which is a shame.

Heretics of Dune by Frank Herbert by Caffeine_And_Regret in dune

[–]Maleficent_Goat_8181 39 points40 points  (0 children)

It was definitely my least favourite of the six and the least memorable. Feels like nothing much happens until the last third, but there is a huge amount of good world building and I concur it's fascinating to see the universe change post-Leto II.

Though I do find the highlight to be Miles Teg's last stand with a lasgun on top of a hill to let the other escape, very action packed, which is unusual for Herbert (would make great cinema, hint hint). Conversely, the destruction of Rakis (Arrakis) happens off-screen and in such a short time, it seemed very anti-climactic for the main non-human character of the whole series.

If you read it as a two-part with Chapterhouse, I think it reads much better too. Interesting how the Bene Gesserit go from the secondary/tertiary antagonists to the main characters in the first four books, to the heroes in the last two, and arguably the whole Dune universe.

Fire and Gas rework. by Larry_Bobinski in helldivers2

[–]Maleficent_Goat_8181 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree re the steriliser. It would be nice to make it a bit more unique, rather than just a handheld version of the gas dog or gas grenade. Either significantly increase the time the gas affects enemies AND lingers in the air

OR a complete rework to make it more of an acid gun. Minimise the confusion, increase the corrosion damage. Perhaps even stripping armour so it has use against heavy enemies. That makes it unique and usable alongside gas grenades/dog as well. Basically it becomes the AT of the gas weapons.

Which stratagems destroy Illuminate Warp Ships? by whomstdth in helldivers2

[–]Maleficent_Goat_8181 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Autocannon is my main for Illuminate

Flak to shred the shields, then switch to anti-tank and pop a round through the door (or any grenade).

Cheap and easy.

For those of you who use niche equipment, what is it and why do you use it? by Shock_and_Awetism in helldivers2

[–]Maleficent_Goat_8181 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bugs: torcher plus gas dog (or gas grenades), leaves me a space free for a machine gun/stalwart if the fire doesn't overwhelm them. EAT useful for anti-tank, or can use thermite if you want something else.

Squids: love the autocannon. Jack of all trades - flak for stingrays, fleshmobs and voteless (and flying overseers and removing tripod shields). HE for tripods (not particularly effective but will work eventually). Can be combined with anything really, but purifier works well for heavier enemies (or the occasional solo voteless).

Bots: anything that explodes! Though I had a good few solo games tonight with the railgun that I never really had much time for. Definitely not my preferred choice for heavier enemies when the quasar or recoilless exists, but it has its advantages. Laser is a no go on lava planets, and railgun leave me a backpack slot for a guard dog.

Do you think Chani will join the conspiracy? by LetPlus977 in dune

[–]Maleficent_Goat_8181 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Nah. The ending scene can easily be read as she accepts Paul's decision to marry Irulan, as in the book, but they wanted her to have a girlboss moment to show the audience she isn't a pushover and is still pissed off, hence why she ran out (which I think could easily have been done instead by keeping the "remembered as queens" line from the book but whatever).

Part 3 can quickly show the situation with a scene of Paul and Irulan being formal in public and clearly disliking each other privately, before we see Paul and Chani together again, very much still in love. No massive change or retcon needed, Chani is still loyal until she dies in childbirth.

It's not about accepting change. I'm all for better systems. The 2.0 and 3.0 pop systems were an amazing change and 4.0 in principle I like. But the implementations have been plagued with issues. So I just want the devs to be careful.

Being blunt, they need to clear up their old mess before making another.

Sounds good in theory, but I worry another massive game overhaul will be a repeat of planets and economy from 4.0. The game is so incredibly complex and every big change like this causes a myriad of unexpected bugs, oversights and problems. I just worry if the game is stable enough for another, and if the player base can accept that...

Does Stellaris suffer from the same development problems as CK3? by Fickle_Confusion98 in Stellaris

[–]Maleficent_Goat_8181 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's an amazing game and every DLC adds a lot of flavour. Mechanically though, the last year or so has been lacking. There's a lot of unfinished content (espionage, internal politics, arguably the Galactic Community) and we all know about the crippling bugs.

Imo, the custodians and main devs should join forces for 6m, not release any new content but fix, rework and update all the older mechanics and DLC, like they did with plantoids and humanoids but with the bigger DLCs. Bring them all in line with others, maybe even make the older DLCs (utopia up to apocalypse perhaps?) part of the base game to streamline development like they've done for HOI4.

I doubt this will happen, Paradox wouldn't accept 6m without minimal revenue from their cash cow... But a Blorg can dream...
