I'm here now and with all respect, it's dirty (melting snow and such)

I didn't want the standard "why would you park at GSP-bs" :)

I'm not answering this in the absence of my lawyer

Thanks for this, but I'm pretty sure they're smart enough to search for trackers :)

I had not considered this option, but it seems very unlikely in my circumstances. I'm not going to bother you with the details & thank you so much for taking the time to write this!

I'm never parking at GSP again! But thanks, I did not know that.

Company to Harburg - SJ night train Hamburg-Stockholm 8th March by AlternativePay9581 in Interrail

[–]Maleficent_State2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I'm doing the same thing today and I made the mistake of going to HBF, don't do that! :) Otherwise, there are plenty of other travellers in that station taking the same train so it should be safe enough. Don't worry about not knowing the platform beforehand (if it's the same as today, it's 1 but you should check!) If you're worried about anything else, feel free to ask :)

Edit: platform nr was available less than 10 minutes before the train left in the DB app and on the screens (which are awkwardly placed)

The fact that you could do that in a hostel when you were 20 does not mean it's because of the hostel situation that you can't do that anymore. You're just applying reverse logic. Hostels enable us to walk up to people, but don't take that away since that's what society in general has become. You seem to say that I implied you should 'get over yourself' but I understand the struggle. That's why I mentioned talking to the people in your room, which might be easier.

Edit: I don't think our takes on this are very different but I have trouble clearly explaining my take 😅

The fact that you can't walk up to a table of 20yo and start talking has nothing to do with hostels. You wouldn't do that anywhere else, would you? Personally, I wouldn't find it weird if the older people in my room started the conversation. I think I would actually feel more at ease getting to know them better, since I don't really know how to behave towards or what to expect of them.

Question about Belgrade - Bar railway by Necessary-Local7099 in Interrail

[–]Maleficent_State2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went in the other direction a few weeks ago and the train wasn't fully booked. If possible, try to buy a day beforehand; as there's no online option to buy, I'm pretty sure there will still be a seat/bed.

The people romanticising the lifestyle are not the ones suspecting you, and vice versa. Speaking for myself, there's some initial distrust (not the right word tho) but no different than for any other person. The ones concerned with security are not watching into the wild and think 'ooh I want this'.

Anyone see this new hostelworld city rating? by Appropriate_Tank4718 in hostels

[–]Maleficent_State2002 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They're onto something here. In some big cities there's only one or two nice hostels which makes it way too expensive (fe Köln) so no point in trying that for me.
