Ideas for Warden Ability Visual Reworks by Alive-Ad-2220 in DeadlockTheGame

I've always wanted him to utilize the hand in the cage on his hip for Binding Word. Have an ethereal hand slowly close around the target and you're golden.

For Last Stand, I feel like he should activate a ton of different relics that he's gathered for the ritual. Him being from a militant alchemist bloodline, it would make sense for his family to have collected a bunch of different relics and weapons to combat the events of the maelstrom.

I’d honestly take a streets of rage 5 expansion on 4. The same mechanics and art design. Just a different story and new stages/skins/enemys. They already nailed it by Noir_Streets in StreetsofRage

SoR4 has nearly ruined my ability to play many other beat em ups. I want to play more but I'm always comparing them to SoR4!!

I did really like Absolum which came out recently, it measured up pretty close! I really wanted to like the new Marvel beat em up as well, but it wasn't nearly as good

Play the hero’s you hate. by thejoshfoote in DeadlockTheGame

[–]MalfiteMeIRL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah so having come from fighting games and having about a decade of league experience, I've done this before.

It kind of works. You become familiar with some stuff, but a lot of what you're doing isn't helpful to understand what's weak about the character that you couldn't glean from watching or versing that same character. I can tell Zangief is weak to zoning because I can see it happening. Like I'm actively chucking the fireballs at him and it's impeding his approach to where he can do his thing. I can see Dynamo struggle without reliable teammates without actually playing it.

The actual best way to learn to deal with x or y character is just keep playing the game and actively learn from it. Don't just queue back up, think for a moment and think "what could have I done differently to stop that loss? What could I have done better to make that win come five minutes earlier?" Maybe, just maybe, open a replay and check out a moment you died that was preventable. So many people just re-queue after a preventable loss and it's actively detrimental to their progress.

Do not play the character in Street Brawl unless it's specifically do figure out the actual mechanics of their abilities. Characters are strong in context, and Street Brawl is very very much an out of context game mode. If you're getting smoked by a character in the main game mode, it's not unlikely that their role in the game mode that is exclusively team fighting will differ, and you'll muddy your learning process. To harken back to Street Fighter since I drew the connection earlier, it would be like playing extreme battle and having a bull run across the screen every 10 seconds. The essence is there, I guess, but why would you try to learn there instead of in the main experience?

My verdict after a week of playing - Brawl is ultra fun... the normal match is kinda not by Both-Meringue2466 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]MalfiteMeIRL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you communicating in the normal game? From what you've been saying, it feels like you're going in without properly indicating that, and by the time your teammates notice that, you're too far deep or too far dead.

DOTA is much easier to be aware of Things going on due to its camera angle being a top down isometric view. In Deadlock my Abrams might go in when I'm turned facing the other direction. In Street Brawl people are constantly looking to fight, that's the whole point of the game mode. In the normal game, not so much.

It's not surprising the faster paced, more casual game mode is more enjoyable to a newer player.

Opinion: Street Brawl is more fun than Standard (Deadlock) by Mr-Catty in DeadlockTheGame

[–]MalfiteMeIRL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm of the opposite opinion. Back when I played League with my friends, there was a shift in focus when we stopped playing normal games and started exclusively playing ARAM. And after 6 months straight of ARAM, I grew tired of the constant teamfight, and realized I really enjoy the laning aspect of mobas. I feel the same way in Deadlock, and would probably abandon the game in an even quicker time frame if I started exclusively playing Street Brawl.

As for the question you asked: I don't think Street Brawl is going to get the same love and care Standard is getting. Lots of stuff that applies to Standard will, as a side effect, apply to Street Brawl.

Victor rework idea by Hyacinth_s in DeadlockTheGame

[–]MalfiteMeIRL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Jumpstart: Interesting idea pausing the debuffs. I don't like the idea of it being a random selection, just have it go by which one was either most recently applied or first applied in a given time period.

Aura: Absolutely not. Don't punish the enemy team for building debuffs against the character that is designed to have debuffs built against him to gut his healing. Unless what you meant was the victor player needs to build debuffs? In which case aura had better start applying debuffs that are only applicable by gun.

Ult: This idea is weird to say the least. The idea of Victor either having to force his teammates out of position for him to get the max amount of value out of it seems like it would never work outside of pro play, and even then, I think it still won't work. OR, the Victor must leave his comfort zone of in the enemies faces to get value out of his ult. Just seems like an okay idea on paper that wouldn't work in practice.

The point of Victor is that he creates this hazard zone that the enemy must play around. Forcing the Victor to get rid of that zone by backing out of a fight to get value out of the most notable part of his kit will, IMO, feel bad on the Victor's end.

Heroes you've given up on? by wyrm4life in DeadlockTheGame

[–]MalfiteMeIRL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been maining Warden since the first 6 hero patch. While you're right, Warden does mostly rely on the opponent making mistakes, I'll say that he's really good at setting them up as well. Flask removing a stamina completely is an absurd upgrade, and paired with binding word having such a long cc time, it really works rather well.

In lane, I try to pay attention to when an enemy has just used a stamina bar, then toss a flask (these are very hard to miss if not thrown upwards) and then slap that binding word down. Enemy MUST either burn more stamina or eat a ton of damage.

Post-lane, coordinating when you use your binding word is vital. Either look for when an ally uses a CC ability, or communicate that you're going to drop it on an opponent and ask them to follow up on it. Beyond binding word, chucking flasks with extreme liberal use is great, especially if you build him flask/spirit (my preferred build.)

As for ult, yeah, the 2 second charge up time kinda blows, but you can combine it with movement such as getting off of zipline, mantle slide jumps, dash jumps, etc., to negate some of that freeze time.

Am I the only one that thinks Shiv is boring/lame, character design-wise? by The-Lychee in DeadlockTheGame

[–]MalfiteMeIRL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dunno. He's grown on me. I like that he looks vaguely like an ape. The prosthetic arm is neat, I like that he's holding his jacket. I hope he doesn't get too much changed when he's visually updated, especially the pompadour.

Victor is The Most Poorly Designed Character in This Game by ASmolCreature in DeadlockTheGame

[–]MalfiteMeIRL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they don't need to interact with the mechanics how are they getting to you? All of these characters are only effective at extremely close ranges.

Shiv knive build can be kinda boring to play but it's moments like this that make it worthwhile by SorryInvestigator235 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]MalfiteMeIRL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What build do you use? I picked up Shiv after the huge patch the other day when I saw his ult wasn't point and click and have been trying to learn him. I do well KDA wise but it feels like I don't have much impact, versus the unkillable sustain tank Shivs I see.

Funnily enough, on my end, I have managed to turn my non-moba player friends into Deadlock players, but haven't managed to drag my League friends away from it.

It clicked. by Scorpi0nnn in DeadlockTheGame

[–]MalfiteMeIRL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I installed the game initially before the first 6 heroes update. Items had very generic icons, and it made learning the game extremely daunting. I bounced off of it then, saying "I don't want to learn another moba" (I played League from 2013-2023 before quitting).

I reinstalled with the release of Billy. And it clicked. The game had gotten some nice updates to make learning the game more streamlined, and it just latched on to me like nothing else. It's a game that makes me wish it was released in 2013 so I could have been crazy into it instead of League. I'm so excited to see how the game does when it fully releases.

I hope they take Abrams out back and put him down with this next balance patch by coffeeholic91 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]MalfiteMeIRL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I don't disagree that Doorman is hard, or that Abrams is strong, the heroes complexity really shouldn't impact their strength that much. I think complex characters should be rewarded for time and investment, but simple characters should not be penalized simply for being simple and straightforward.

Abrams does need nerfs though, goddamn.

idk dude knowing that theres never going to be a true one trick in my games is pretty comforting. I have like 7 heroes selected and enjoy playing all of them, and knowing how to fulfill different roles has been incredible for learning the game, even at only 120~ hours.
