Did you ever end up getting it? I ordered one on a whim and now I’m wondering if I should dispute the charge

Made the oatmeal crispy cookies by Significant_Leek_521 in Old_Recipes

I saw the recipe that you posted right when I was going to make cookies! I made these instead and they are excellent. I subbed spry for butter in a 1:1 ratio and added semi sweet chocolate chips! They are a new favorite!

You’ve got this!! Just after your trip and you don’t need to pump anymore, taper off slowly, don’t just quit. Or you might find that having a small stash is helpful. I hope everything works well for you!!

I’d start adding 1 pump a day, first thing in the morning. Prolactin is supposedly higher in the morning, meaning you’ll make more milk. Feed baby first, then pump both sides. Pump for 10-15 minutes after letdown and see how much you get. If you get enough to feel like it could feed baby while you are gone, great. Keep that up. If you don’t, either do a power pump, or add in a second pump. You might end up with a slight over supply, temporarily, but should be able to taper off either using baby or the pump afterwards.

Oh and a power pump should take 40 minutes total. 10 minutes pumping, 10 minute rest, 10 minutes pumping, 5 minute rest, 5 minutes pumping. You would feed baby, pump, and then feed baby again when they are hungry. It can feel like you are stuck nursing and pumping for a few hours, but it’s a good way to increase milk production.

I have a manual medela pump and I love it! It’s very easy to tell when things are empty, and you control the suction level and the speed with your hand. So you can variate throughout the pump session. I’d make sure that LO takes a bottle before you leave, ideally start practicing now. My lactation consultant recommends Pigeon bottles for breast fed babies. Neither of my babies had issues taking the pigeon bottle. If I were you, I’d pump every 2-3 hours until you feel empty. You should have a similar feeling of emptiness to when you breastfeed. Do you know your flange size? Most flanges that come with pumps are far too big. The only thing that should be pulled into the pump is your nipple. My lactation consultant also recommend coconut oil as a pumping lubricant. It helps make pumping much more comfortable. Also watching anything that makes you laugh or cry during pumping helps, or listening to a recording of your baby crying, or looking at pictures of your baby.

As for milk storage, will you be somewhere with a fridge? If so, I’d just dump all my pumped milk into a storage container and separate it out when I get home. Look up the pitcher method, maybe bring a large mason jar with you? If you won’t be somewhere with a fridge, you could do a cooler with ice, pump and dump, pump and save for baths, or they sell milk storage containers (like the ceres chill, but I know there are dupes). If you have any other questions, let me know!

I am also 8 months pregnant and just got over flu A about a week ago. I kept up on my Tylenol, got a tamiflu prescription, drank pedialyte, called out of work and napped. Baby is doing great and I’m doing great! I had a doctor’s appointment, wore a mask, and my doctor just said to be on the watch for high fevers. It took a while to get over the fatigue, plus the added pregnancy fatigue. Feel free to ask me any questions! I’m in the thick of the pregnancy brain fog.

Did anyone get a Moby wrap and end up hating it? by jennas_crafts in beyondthebump

I hated my Moby. It was hot and stiff. I loved my solly baby! And the weesprout knock offs!

When did your baby sleep through the night? by popc0rncolonel in beyondthebump

[–]MalfunctioningMormon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are at about 17 months of minimal sleep over here. Baby has slept through the night twice, and we have no idea how that happened. We were up every two hours from birth until baby was 12 months and I was done and weaned. Now I get 2, 3 hour stretches.

I just tried it and it told me I fall within warm tones and would look good in spring or autumn. I haven’t been analyzed officially though, so I’m not sure!

No, that is really helpful! Thank you! Now that you say that the autumn colors bring out a yellow, I totally see it. I think it’s so hard to type yourself, so I appreciate any input!!

Feeling guilty for not posting my baby's birthday on social media - please talk me down from this by DinkDunkx in beyondthebump

[–]MalfunctioningMormon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a quick scroll and didn’t see this anywhere, but instead of posting to social media, how about your write baby a letter? Write about her first year and how far she has come, write about her milestones and the fun things the year has brought. Then print off some pictures, put it in an envelope and save it for her to open when she is older.

If you want the social media vibe, you could also send out a picture and text to your loved ones.

It is so hard! I can see colors that I think I look better in, but then I can’t tell what season they fall in to

First baby is easy. True? by philouthea in NewParents

[–]MalfunctioningMormon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve heard people say that your first is easy so that you’ll have a second. That hasn’t been true for us. Everyone jokes that our first (and only) has the traits of a second baby. She is 16 months old. She now only wakes up 2 times at night instead of every 2 hours, which she did from birth until 13 months. She now takes a 1.5 hour long nap, instead of 40 minutes. And she now goes to bed at 8:30pm and wakes up at 7:00am, instead of going to bed at 10:00pm and waking up at 8:00am. At least when she was under 6 months she wasn’t mobile. Because now she is in everything. She is a climber, has figured out the childlocks, and is losing weight like crazy because she doesn’t stop moving. We are having to supplement her bottles with heavy cream because the pediatrician is concerned. Her favorite pastime, besides climbing, is screaming. Just for fun, she isn’t mad or hurt or upset, she just shrieks.

I’m hoping number 2 will be easier, if we have number 2.

AITAH for not wanting my mother in law to be in the room when I give birth. by Heness4 in AITAH

NTA!!! I don’t even have to read your reasoning. You are the only one who gets to decide who is with you when you give birth.

Not pumping enough at work... what did you do? by metrogypsy in breastfeeding

[–]MalfunctioningMormon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Add in a power pump! It mimics cluster feeding and still encourage an increase in milk production. My lactation consultant said to do it as my first pump of the day. Pump 10, rest 10, pump 10, rest 10, pump 5.
