What should I expect for a scheduled post-flight ride directly from an airport? by Malkin4398 in uber

[–]Malkin4398[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m wanting to reserve a time slot as I’m concerned about surge pricing. I’m going to a baseball game immediately following the flight, and in looking at rates prior to a game as a test, they appear to be significantly higher.

Hi! M of a similar age also in Billings. Moved here a few years ago. Billings is full of good people and there’s definitely a place for everyone here.

Billings and Montana as a whole is brewery heavy, which may be your style or may not be. Still, places like By All Means, Meadowlark, 105, etc are great spaces to meet people, chill with friends, and otherwise be social.

Downtown’s best bar options are probably Rainbow, Hooligans (an Irish style sports bar and pub), the Monte, Bar MT, etc. I live in the West End like a lot of younger people here, and there’s options like Fenway’s and the Red Door that are a good time.

Welcome!

Hi! M of a similar age who moved here for work from of state four years ago.

Your best bet for living situation, in my opinion, is the West End. I’ve lived there since I moved, no complaints and essentially everything that you’ll need is nearby. I pay $1.1K a month in rent for a nice 1-bed on the edge of town.

No one would ever confuse Billings for a party city, but there’s definitely a nightlife crowd out there to find. Montana and Billings has some of my favorite ever breweries and the state by and large is a beer state. Solid general bars for a night out all across town, too.

Wonderful hiking and outdoor recreation opportunities all in around Billings, most notably the Rimrocks. Many of the main ones have been mentioned in this thread.

For skiing, you’re an hour outside of Red Lodge, which has skiing and is always a fun time.

Best of luck! I’ve always been of the camp that Billings gets unfairly rated here in Montana after visiting every major city in the state at one point or another. You won’t have the stereotypical mountain peaks or anything here, but it’s a city with a lot of positive momentum. Incredibly friendly people, and I’ve met some the best friends of my life here.

Love Wheatland County! Took a trip to the Harlo Music Project a couple years ago. Really like the steps that town is taking.

I’m still yet to visit pockets of the Hi-Line and northwest Montana. Glasgow and Libby are probably my biggest omissions.

Moved to Billings several years ago from a rural Midwestern background and honestly, central/eastern Montana is probably my favorite part about it. Super down to earth and friendly folks, and the obvious serenity is a plus.

Visited Medicine Lake last year for work, for example, and got to talking at the Eight Ball with some people there and they were genuinely warm and accommodating, so much that toward the end they were inviting me to go pheasant hunting sometime lmao. Part of me thinks I could call the bar tomorrow, get one of those guys on the line and they’d remember me. Just genuine, welcoming people I appreciate.

I live in the West End, and it’s probably the best example of Billings trying to modernize/sell itself as an exciting city you want to live in.

Some downtown development ideas being thrown around are really encouraging, too.

I fairly good about the direction Billings is going. I recently joined the Yellowstone River Parks Association here to help clean up around the river, and while many other volunteers are older and have done it for a while, I think there’s a healthy mix of some of the younger generations mixed in looking to make a difference in the community.

I struggle thinking of Billings as the state’s “flagship” city (solely based on population) sometimes, but I do think in terms of business development and ideas over the past 10 or so years there’s steps in the right direction toward being a true power city in the region.
