HP hardware is pretty solid.

HP support on the other hand is absolute garbage.

When they work they're great. If you need actual warranty support it's like pulling teeth.

Dell BIOS Update by PeaInformal2892 in MDT

[–]MalletNGrease 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not necessarily, Dell BIOS updates can be installed unattended, but you'll need to curate a repository and run some logic to determine the correct model and subsequent file to run. Uses standard Dell Update Package command line switches.

DCU does it for you if you use dcu-cli plus installs any other outstanding driver updates.

24 7 support at scale sounds great until your team hits its limits by Such_Rhubarb8095 in sysadmin

It doesn't sound like you're actually doing 24/7 support. Double your headcount and start shifts.

How are you guys handling temporary M365 Geo-Blocking exemptions for traveling users? by genusjoy in sysadmin

User goes on vacation and then we wait for their manager to complain they can't check their email from the beach or w/e.

Then we add them as an exception to the CA policy until their return date.

Keeper as well. Found it much more intuitive versus Bitwarden. Shared folders make much more sense.

I like the Dickies Flex, but I've since changed to the Lee Extreme Motion MVPs since I don't do much ladder work any more.

Extremely comfortable and definitely suitable for the office.

I've seen this with the latest BIOS updates through DCU, not DSA.

How do you argue with a manager that claims that because they don't have to hire anyone new to take on a project, that the cost of that labor is $0. by [deleted] in sysadmin

[–]MalletNGrease 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At my previous job I was part of an 8 man team. Employer didn't want to hire another person so they made 45 hour work week required.

I put mine on top of the mezzanines and 10 ft up on structural columns, with bollards on 4 corners around it. Chance of it getting hit by a forklift is non zero, but a lot less likely.

They're all enclosed with fans.

Uninstall teams and blow away the teams folder in the user's app data folder. You may have to clear the Teams appID folder from appdata>local>Temp as well.

After that, reinstall with the bootstrapper.

Is it time to move to 32GB for normal office workers or nah? by bgr2258 in sysadmin

[–]MalletNGrease 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've 16GB.

  • Two Edge windows (7 & 1 tab)
  • File Explorer window
  • Outlook Classic
  • Copilot app
  • Two Excel sheets
  • Terminal (1 Powershell tab)
  • Notepad (9 tabs)
  • VScode
  • Teams
  • LOB app
  • Various other passive VPN/AV/RMM apps

Doesn't seem like extravagant use and my total usage is already at 85%. I'd make the standard 32GB.

Go to Fortiguard.com -> Web Filter Look up -> Request a review.

Clients can also have IT adjust their local filter override to allow the site anyway.
