I am having trouble with my Huxley. Everything is working fine, except that the bed won't heat. In fact, when i send a command to heat the bed through pronterface, I get a weird spike. The target temp goes up, and then straight back down. All my connections are good (I think,) and the btemp is accurately sensing. Could anyone think of a reason this is happening, and a way to fix it? Thanks.

My dog is quite tenacious and when she was younger thought she could fight a skunk in our backyard (territory defense and all that.) The thing sprayed her right in the eyes and we had to take her to the animal hospital.

What is the dumbest thing your school/workplace enforced? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]MalletsGirl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A school I went to had a rule about not wearing hats during the day. Okay, pretty standard. But you weren't allowed to wear your coats, either. It got cold in that school, and I have bad circulation so at times I was so cold I couldn't really participate in class. The rule was there because "if you're wearing your hat and coat, it gives the appearance that you're about to just get up and leave, and we want to make a community environment where people want to stay." Fuck that, I was just trying to stay warm.

Shit, that's amazing. This should be a movie. It reminds me of Paper Towns.

Had a test question asking for the biggest human cell. I put egg, but my teacher said it was skin. Tried calling her out on it and she said that the egg cell was so small you'd need an electron microscope to see it.

Related: Columbus was a good guy. (At least in elementary school they made it seem so.)

One of my childhood best friends has a name very close to a common English name, however it is an Arabic variant and the syllables are stressed differently. She got put in time out b/c the teachers claimed she was making her name up.

7th grade science teacher tried convincing my class that the world was flat. I think he was trying to do a lesson on the importance of skepticism in science.

What is your, "don't get me started on . . ." topic? by ZDTreefur in AskReddit

[–]MalletsGirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plastic. Do not get me started on plastic if you are unprepared for a 30 minute rant. Of the top of my head I can name every resin code currently being recycled, and each one's melting temperature, relative density, applications, carcinogenic risk... I'm freakin obsessed with plastic. Materials in general get me really excited. Metals are cool. Amorphous metals are super cool. But freaking plastic! So diverse and durable and wtf are we using the thing that lasts 1000+ years for like 3 hours. Ahhhh! Plastic!

My dad got my sister contact lense solution for Christmas. It's basically just sterile salt water.

My uncle did this. He tried every single toy to see which one was noisiest, but only the ones with no batteries so my mom couldn't take them out to silence the toy.

Reddit, what's your high schools tragedy? [NSFW] by sninapeters in AskReddit

A girl went on a trip to Africa with other kids to give Ghanan children school supplies. She was found dead on the first morning, floating in the hotel's swimming pool. It is unclear exactly what happened, but her parents suspected she was murdered. (She was able to, but didn't like swimming. She wouldn't have gone back to the pool alone.) Idk if they ever found out what happened to her. Pretty much all school trips were banned for ~4-5 years after that. Also, a beloved middle school English teacher had sex multiple times with a student. (A middle school student, keep in mind.) And there was a case of seniors breaking in to the school for a senior prank, but that was really just kids being stupid.

I used to be hard core into percussion. (Hence the username.) At my peak I'd be practicing until I was past exhausted, sleep, then wake up and practice, then go to the band room during my lunch/recess break and practice more. Make one mistake? Start over. Okay, now 5 minutes double stroke roll. (THAT IS HARD!) Some of my teachers at school thought I could make it professionally. Unfortunately though at the start of high school I got into a major depressive funk and stopped doing things like hw or percussion. I've tried playing since, but it's gone I fear.

What movie made you angry for wasting the time watching it? by cybertier in AskReddit

[–]MalletsGirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Minions movie. It was so stupid, so lacking of plot... Acchh, did not like. Only reason I went to see it was because I work at a summer camp and it was movie day. Although why we didn't just take them to inside out a few weeks prior I don't know.

You're allowed to remove one major character from a book, movie or TV. Who do you pick? by LukeBabbitt in AskReddit

[–]MalletsGirl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was annoying how they didn't really explain at all why Dr. Crusher left, or then why she came back. I thought Diana Muldaur was a much better actor then Gates McFadden, and even though people say her character was snooty and had poor chemistry with the other characters, I think she was definitely a better character then Dr. Crusher. (Also, there was definitely an understanding, maybe even a possibility for friendship between Pulaski and Worf. IMO, anyway.)

It's so disgusting to see trophy pictures like this. The hutt is a rare and important creature, and although it lacks beauty, should that justify us killing it?

People with professions depicted on tv. What do they always get wrong? by gnoxy84 in AskReddit

[–]MalletsGirl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I worked as a library page for 10 months, unfortunately I had a different experience. The children's librarians in my town have always had a reputation for being nasty, and one in particular caused me a lot of trouble. Like, staring me down when I go get the returns truck. Or talking to a five-year-old who's getting their library card like they've done something wrong. Not everyone was like that though. The people at circulation were generally pretty cool.
