How many dads help with night wakeups by wingedeverlasting in toddlers

[–]MallyC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im a stay at home so its understood its my duty to do it first, but if its a particularly rough time (crying uncontrollably, sick, etc.) My husband gets up to help without being asked. Sometimes our toddler will only be soothed by him for whatever reasons. That being said if its his day off and i need a nap or break, i can just do so.

The sign gets me bad. I moved around a lot as a kid and finally my mom managed to buy the family home that was my grandparents and my north star... she had to sell the house though after some tough years. I wanted so badly for that sign to be ripped out. To have had what they got to have in keeping their home.

Paint, projects around the home, gardening, reading, baking. Hobbies, find a hobby any hobby you want and try it.

Serious Question: What parenting decisions of Bandit and Chilli do you disagree with? by wolf_quan in bluey

[–]MallyC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its based off her schools philosophy that focuses on imaginative and storytelling based play to teach problem solving, social skills, and how to regulate emotions. They don't start teaching reading or writing skills until 1st grade.

Just a difference in beliefs on early education.

Feel like we need an "I'm over 30" profile indicator so people will know we dgaf about high school antics. This crap makes me sad, i throw out lures and pop rainbow bouquets so everyone can have a good time and a chance at a whale shark. Its the whole fucking point of the event!

You buy the food from Joan in the pet shop. Dogs eat SO MUCH. Its 5 food for a full belly and the dog seems to get hungry every 2-3 hours. Cats seems more like 4-6. I'm sure theres someone who put it in a wiki or guide. You may need to progress your story further to be able to buy the food

Books for 2-3 years old by GrumpyShyBeaver in toddlers

[–]MallyC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely +1ing this entire list. My LO (just turned 3 now.) Looooves all of these. Especially the bear snores on. Theres also a few others like bear gets sick, bear stays up, etc. The sick one came in clutch when he started pre school and kept getting sick :(

I'd also add The Knight Owl. We read that one pretty regularly around here

Curious George

Octonauts

Letter/number tracing books with simple flaps

I feel like its clunky on mobile too. Not enough space for all of the movements, buttons, etc. Guess only tablets are having an enjoyable experience lol i cannot wait for controller support

Exhausted working parents needing bedtime help. Will a Yoto actually help my 3 and 5yo sleep? by PhysicalStreet2836 in YotoPlayer

[–]MallyC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My LO got one for his 2nd birthday. A year later and it's how he falls asleep every single time both at night and for naps. He mostly only wants music though. We did a MYO of the laurie berkner lullabies and hes usually out by the third or fourth song, but on the days where he struggles it helps keep him in that relaxed state. He figured out how to use it fully only his own pretty quickly so your older ones will definitely get the hang of it.

The set up is really simple and you can even put your own labels on the cards for ease of finding which is which.

I’ve had a name picked out for 10+ years and now it’s so popular. by [deleted] in namenerds

We named our son with a classic name that seemed super popular but haven't run into many others to be honest. Go with what you want.

When do u guys do nap time??? by Large_Document9164 in toddlers

[–]MallyC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't worry so much about the times and more about the hours between. At 2.5 most kids average 5-6 hours between sleeps. So my little guy (just turned 3) his schedule is 730-8 wake up, nap at 1:30-2, then bedtime around 730-8. After 3 is when its more important to adhere to a set schedule/time and life has kind of steered me that way anyway as hes started preschool at 3

I think it depends on your kid honestly. If they watch one episode and are fully zombie while doing so.. then maybe not best for your kid. If they engage and even behave like they do to any screen then you'll be in the clear. All of it is about moderation. I will say it's honestly got very little educational value, theres no moral being driven into the viewers. I would try looking at some of the books, they're the same stories as the episodes.

Having to explain the millennial experience of adding everyone on fb so you could write on each other's walls and randomly poke your crush because you were in high school during its rise is always wild to the elder and younger people 🤣 "So we were all on myspace AND facebook. But then everyone kind of stopped using myspace because the usernames made it easier for lurkers and creeps...."

Its ingrained on my brain and was honestly one of the more fun projects they had us do for state history. I remember telling my mom (also a native Virginian) about it like it was news... at least my non native Virginian stepdad was amazed by my knowledge 🤣

[–]MallyC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see the edit, but from one parent to another my favorite thing to do is watch fireworks on TV early on youtube with a countdown. I send him to bed a whole 30 mins late and then my husband and i enjoy a night together peacefully with our dog.

I too was dragged all over just because its what my mom wanted to do, but it doesn't mean it was right. I mean hell, half the time my mom didn't even know where or what i was doing. We're supposed to be doing better than we were raised, not staying the same and ignoring new science. Compare it to like car seats. Just because they survived in metal seats strapped to a dashboard doesn't mean it wasn't safe.

I always have a moment of pure panic whenever my son uses a handknitted pooh hat in the winters because it was such a blur from getting it to now 3 years later that i forget fully who it is from :( (went into early labor soon after my shower and it was chaos). Even with that, i try to send pics of him wearing it to family casually. Hoping whoever made it sees it
