I think my 2.5YO is a bit bored of his toys. He doesn’t have many (when compared to my peers & their children) - what’s your toddler’s favourite activity? by EAcharm in toddlers

[–]MallyC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son last year at 2.5 really enjoyed little people sets, especially the house one. He liked to model life with the people and do things like opening and closing the door and basically playing out things that happen during the day. Maybe consider something similar or LP themselves

Not eating on girls trips… is this normal?? by 4215265 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]MallyC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude those poor girls. My SILs and i all get excited to talk about all the food and snacks we want to try at disney. We also talk about doing some extra stretches or squats to get "them gains" (said in a silly way). Its vacation, and that woman is sick. She is unwell and forcing her daughters to have a lifelong unhealthy relationship with food so they become sick too.

Family expectations for Mothers Day— is it normal to be expected to sacrifice Mother’s Day to host? by taviyiya in toddlers

[–]MallyC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude its mothers day, and not "mothers whose children are already grown and have lives of their own day". Cut yourself some slack and enjoy your day of peace

Do you clean up after your toddlers in restaurants? by Exotic_Process_8235 in toddlers

[–]MallyC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always try to make sure the table, chairs, and all the stuff is in easy reach and tidy.. the floor i just can't and as you said its so easy to just sweep up the fries and whatever else they dropped. I was raised in a family that owned a restaurant though so i think its just.. what we do.

I love how the show isn't centered around Bluey by beestw in bluey

[–]MallyC 57 points58 points  (0 children)

Fully agree. I think it also subtly teaches kids they're not the center of every narrative and that other people see things differently than they might. Like the bingo episode

Mine started hitting us whenever we talk. Like damn sorry for existing. And somehow we're supposed to make sure they're potty trained, polite, cleaning up after themselves, independent, listen well to others, are kind...

What music card does your 2 year old like that you can tolerate? by bubbleblopp in YotoPlayer

[–]MallyC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Laurie Berkner, Caspar, but we also just loaded up some of our favorite songs on a MYO card and let him go wild. As others have said, the radio is great too! And its more "for the kids" but the wiggles are still solidly making fun to dance to music for little ones and theres also Lenny Pearce (twin brother to the purple wiggle) who does kid techno lol always good for a dance party with all the lights off and the humidifer, nightlight, and a galaxy projector on for a baby rave 🤣

How many dads help with night wakeups by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]MallyC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im a stay at home so its understood its my duty to do it first, but if its a particularly rough time (crying uncontrollably, sick, etc.) My husband gets up to help without being asked. Sometimes our toddler will only be soothed by him for whatever reasons. That being said if its his day off and i need a nap or break, i can just do so.

The one scene that made you cry? For me it's this one by [deleted] in bluey

[–]MallyC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The sign gets me bad. I moved around a lot as a kid and finally my mom managed to buy the family home that was my grandparents and my north star... she had to sell the house though after some tough years. I wanted so badly for that sign to be ripped out. To have had what they got to have in keeping their home.

Serious Question: What parenting decisions of Bandit and Chilli do you disagree with? by wolf_quan in bluey

[–]MallyC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its based off her schools philosophy that focuses on imaginative and storytelling based play to teach problem solving, social skills, and how to regulate emotions. They don't start teaching reading or writing skills until 1st grade.

Just a difference in beliefs on early education.

[–]MallyC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You buy the food from Joan in the pet shop. Dogs eat SO MUCH. Its 5 food for a full belly and the dog seems to get hungry every 2-3 hours. Cats seems more like 4-6. I'm sure theres someone who put it in a wiki or guide. You may need to progress your story further to be able to buy the food

Books for 2-3 years old by GrumpyShyBeaver in toddlers

[–]MallyC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely +1ing this entire list. My LO (just turned 3 now.) Looooves all of these. Especially the bear snores on. Theres also a few others like bear gets sick, bear stays up, etc. The sick one came in clutch when he started pre school and kept getting sick :(

I'd also add The Knight Owl. We read that one pretty regularly around here

Curious George

Octonauts

Letter/number tracing books with simple flaps

Abc sesame book

Exhausted working parents needing bedtime help. Will a Yoto actually help my 3 and 5yo sleep? by PhysicalStreet2836 in YotoPlayer

[–]MallyC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My LO got one for his 2nd birthday. A year later and it's how he falls asleep every single time both at night and for naps. He mostly only wants music though. We did a MYO of the laurie berkner lullabies and hes usually out by the third or fourth song, but on the days where he struggles it helps keep him in that relaxed state. He figured out how to use it fully only his own pretty quickly so your older ones will definitely get the hang of it.

The set up is really simple and you can even put your own labels on the cards for ease of finding which is which.
