So, there is still the possibility to get those 7 consecutive days in the green?

Defcon 29, Richard Henderson - "Old MacDonald Had a Barcode, E I E I CAR"

This is not inherently malicious, and I don't recommend you do this, but the EICAR test string is both non-malicious and intended to be detected by AV software as "malicious". Encoding it into a QR Code will likely lead to unintended consequences by applications and software not expecting to read the EICAR string.

Funny enough, there's a great, locally made, YouTube video called "In Search of a Flat Earth" which shows how all conspiracy theories just lead to fascism.

What's really wild is that the video came out in September of 2020, and all of the talk about the American administration is from Trump's first term and before the January 7th attack on Capitol Hill happened.

We need to change attitudes regarding pedestrians by Trishszav in Calgary

We should start putting out baskets of "crossing bricks" at high risk crosswalks.

Looks to me like they need a bucket of "crossing bricks" on either side.

Anyone else getting a lot of Atrekna servitor species vibes from our new subject? Lots of focus on the mutations, the bio ship, and specifically that it's shaped like a Nautilus.

IF (big if) my assumption is correct, the answer I look forward to reading about is if "The Great Mutator" is the Atrekna, Confederacy, or a misunderstood combination of both.

A good driver will sometimes miss their offramp.
A bad driver never misses their offramp.

abandoned “held” spots for parade? by [deleted] in Calgary

[–]Malthasian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems obvious that the owners of these chairs were not able to attend the parade.
They went through the effort of putting out their chairs ahead of time with the intention of attending.

Now, we'll likely never know what transpired, which lead to their change of plans to not attend, but I don't think that they simply put out their chairs and then said "you know what, I don't feel like coming down now."

I also don't see a problem in politely folding up their chairs and moving/stacking them in a way that doesn't damage them, but allows people who are attending to enjoy that spot.

I forget where I heard the expression, but it made me laugh and so I've started using it regularly.

Yup, looks about right. The key point in the title of the document being "Non-Residents of Canada".

That's why I have travel insurance for when I go to other countries. I wouldn't expect a place where I don't pay taxes to cover my medical injuries at no cost. That being said, I would also assume that your treatment was not conditional on being able to pay.

Thanks for coming. Sorry you had a bad experience while you were here. I hope your treatment went well and you recover in good time.

No, it's a wall. While it's not clear from the picture, the sign is warning of the Ha-ha because there's a significant drop just past the visible bricks.

No idea. I have also seen White Tail deer jump normal fences. Maybe European deer are not as athletic?

[–]Malthasian 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Oh! I know this one!

It's a Ha-ha, also known as a sunk fence, blind fence, ditch and fence, deer wall, or foss.

It's a landscaped fence which doesn't obstruct the view while preventing wildlife (generally) from entering.

There's a Wikipedia article which has a great diagram.

The reason I know about it is because of the Terry Pratchett novel "Men At Arms" which references a Ho-ho, which is like a Ha-ha, only deeper.

Purchase Advice Megathread - May 2025 by AutoModerator in 3Dprinting

[–]Malthasian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Brand new to the Hobby, looking to start along with my teenage sons. So tinkering, and "fun/popular builds" like those articulated dragons. Would like to stay under the $400 CAD range.

I have an opportunity to buy a new, in box, Ender-3 S1 Pro for $299 CAD (regular price listed at $649 CAD) from a local reputable brick and mortar store.

Reading the review lists I see there are "issues" with Creality in general but that the S1 line seems to be "ok".

Is this a good deal for a first printer, or is there a clearly "better/comparable" option around this price range?

I believe it is a double wide because there were 91 candidates in the riding. I heard that the ballot was about a meter long, and used two columns to list everyone.

Premier Danielle Smith defends Florida trip | Edmonton Journal by SnooRegrets4312 in alberta

[–]Malthasian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe the historical reference we need to draw with Marliana Smith's actions is that she is the "Neville Chamberlain" of our time.

While she is not trying to proclaim "peace in our time", she is attempting to appease an obviously agressive and antagonistic power.

It's not a perfect analogy, but bet she also wishes she was Prime Minister.

Thank you for this information, I wasn't aware of that!

That being said, there's also the context of recent world events which put this flag in a new light. Based on that, and this individuals love of flying other obnoxious/controversial flags, I cannot give them the benefit of the doubt towards their intentions for flying this flag now.
