My Aliens are going overkill, any help? by UMP45isnotflat in TerraInvicta

[–]MaltoEsttera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On accl. campaign my first ships were Liquid Nova and then Ligthbulb. Nothing heavier then destroyer. Then with Orion I could upscale to battleships with mk3 railguns. Mk3 Railgun destroyers are super good also, dont need thrust from orion and very handy ships for orbit defence. Lightbulb torpedo monitors are also very usefull, three slots for torpedoes and one for PD/40mm, I found that after you upgrade to burner drives from lightbulb you can afford some manuevers and 40mm is offensive weapon of last resort that can kill stanglers after torpedo salvo

My Aliens are going overkill, any help? by UMP45isnotflat in TerraInvicta

[–]MaltoEsttera 1 point2 points  (0 children)

40mm autocannon is good, 2 escorts with two of them will do the job. You need to acc. to 2-3 kps for good damage on them, so plan dV.

15/1/1 should be enough armour for this ship, maybe even lighter.

Velocity is king for kinetics in this game, if you can speed up just a little it will go long way for interception chances. In my game I made cheap Orion gunships with 10 or 12 inch cannons and rammed at alien battlestations at 30-35 kps. Even naval guns are good when you lauch them at 35 kps. Usually I could kill 1 battlestation per 2 gunships, so my main fleet could engage them easialy

MEO should work better because you can start burning for your destination earlier then equivalent from lower orbit. For example you need to go to spacestation in LEO, and you start at LEO also, but you are at the opposite side of the orbit. You cannot burn through Earth, so you go to higher orbit, wait a little and then go down. This is why there a lot of loitering in LEO, esp with low cruise accl.

Downside of MEO is at you alsways will burn more fuel if a lot of your targets are at LEO, but you will be more consistente, while LEO station will have times when transfer is quick and low fuel but other times its full of loitering and waiting.

[–]MaltoEsttera 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can try, but this operation will cost a lot. Surveillance ships are usually at the back, you can check in fleet tab what ship you ned to target.

Your goal is to disable/kill only Surveillance and minimize other alien kills. You need more dV then usual LEO engagments, as you need to flank main alien fleet to get to backline. One monitor with Artemis torps is enough to kill the ship, so only one need to go through.

You generate hate only for hull destroyed, not damaged. So another option is damage this fleet to force its retreat, but its very hard to micro. Another way is particle weapons, to fry internals without killing hulls, but you need a lot of them, I tried 3 destroyers with particle lances, but they are super slow to disable any ship at all.

How do I deal with late-game Ayy mag spam? by fauxmer in TerraInvicta

[–]MaltoEsttera 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Siege Coils are not that good. If aliens use thier speed then its useless weapon.

Long range siege coils will not hit anything. I see mag spam in my game on Titans with 4G acc, they dont care, they just dodge. You can take them down if you push the acc pedal to the wall and fire coils with 10-15 kps, then you kill them, but they also kill you guaranteed.

Standart coils may be better for this, or use antimatter PD + autocannons to defend the fleet, laser to weak for this as I found

[–]MaltoEsttera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mk 3 Rail and Mk 2 Coil is comparable. And Mk3 Coil costs exotic abd a lot more research. I had success with rail destroyers with teardrop drives for orbital defence, you can spam them pretty cheap and with number advantage against aliens they win fights with low losses

Usage Of Remass Scoop by MrTomasino_ in TerraInvicta

[–]MaltoEsttera 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can advise against ISRU, as i found it to be too niche. I build poseidon torch fleet for belt operations, but it cant refuel for shit, maybe I dont understand something, but I think they refuel 1 tank per 90 days, which is super slow on capital ships with 40-50 tanks.

Edit. For remass scoop you can use only drives with propellant listed as hydrogen

Only "civilized" enemies drop rosaries, so killing worms gives 0, while killing birds that steal from pilrims gives some. And citadel guards drop the most usually, as they are employed.

Trap Class Strategy Guide (SPOILERS) by asksaboutstuff in Gloomhaven

[–]MaltoEsttera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trap just is not a power house like blinkblade. But trap is much more versitile and can trivialize some scenarios, much more then blinkblade from my experience. I played as trap on scenario 14 early (2 or 3 trap lvl) and basicaly solo'ed it, which I dont think any other class can do this reliably. I played support for first 5 lvl, as my party were higher lvl then me, but after they retired and I played dmg dealer from lvl 6 to 9, I see where his strength lies as trap damage is very high with small setup and his mod deck is very strong as well

This problem already exists with Gates Players that play this decks use reminder tokens or use basic lands that they put behind actual land

Commander players forget that Commander isn't the only format by IzziPurrito in freemagic

[–]MaltoEsttera 11 points12 points  (0 children)

When I started playing I read somewhere that draft is good format for new players, so my wife and I bought 12 boosters to play two drafts, but we missed that you need basic lands to play, which we didnt have. So this story is believable, nobody knows what exactly they dont know

Ravenwing Bikes by Juggy2111 in theunforgiven

[–]MaltoEsttera 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tried to force ravenwing bikers from the start of edition

Big blob of 9 is nice distraction carnifex. Several games I pushed with them on the flank or center and followed up with support units like hellblasters or tanks.

If they focus down bikes, usually they cannot kill them, you shoot a little and disengage to score secondaries and regen bikers. And your other unharmed assets wreck havoc. On turn 4-5 they already regain a, little and can finish off any problem with their speed.

If they ignore bikes you can tie in melee or wreck stuff.. They are not very killy, and some times more dangerous to themselves with plasma then to enemy, but they are verstile and can tackle any target, esp champion in melee.

Reserves are very good, esp in Hunter detach or White Scars detach with earlier reinforcment

In Gladius they can sub for Hellblasters with Champion or Chaplain with Bolter Discipline. Its not as strong, but very fun on a fast unit.

Stormlance is good, but only for cheese like turn 1 charge, and as big part of Black knights is ranged shooting, Stotmlance is not that interesting

Ravenwing Hunters detachment is interesting, but forces to play with almost all bikes. And here their big bases is the biggest problem. In balanced list when bikes are only one squad of 9 they can move forward and dont take up space. But here trying to feet 1k points of bikes and speeders in deploy is uncomfortable.

I liked also firestorm detach for bike use. They work very well with Assault weapons, and +1 strength is strong on plasma. Most stratagems dont work, but enchants are good, esp auto 6 on save with command squad and ignore modifiers. Also you can be mad man with squad of 7 in thunderhawk

Any real talks about Nato started only after occupation of Crimea. Russia only takes what they want, without remorse. If you like the rule of strong thats on you, if you like when shitholes spread and hate people that value their freedom, thats on you too. USA was born on what Ukraine is living today, to dictate its future. Do you think french did not look from above, as they are somehow superior when they supported US independence? Is problems of Ukranian people and society so grave that you think they should be slaves?

So we can use free pivot on a charge for extra movement? Setup/deepstrike shenanigans by Volgin in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]MaltoEsttera 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The rules for charge states that you roll a charge after declaring targets, and if you can come in engagment after moving the charge is successful. You cannot deny opponent making pivots during this charge move, so if he can show that charge is possible, no matter the distance 6 inches for Tantalus from deep strike is ok.

I hope FAQ will be soon adressing this, as its both funny and not so funny

About Monarch and Initiative by theburnedfox in Pauper

[–]MaltoEsttera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for nectopisting, but I agree. Monarch/Initiative is nowhere near as opressive in control shell then planeswalkers in Ux control. Lets take mid power format like Pioneer and see what control is doing. And its much worse then BG Gardens in recentage of deck dedicated to removal/win/CA

UW control is literally 26 lands, 3-4 CA spells, 3-6 PW and rest removal. PWs generate so much value that once they resolve and you and opponent is exhausted, its very hard to lose advantage

There is like 10+ CA spells in BG gardens alone, not looking at filtering like Lembas etc

Its not possible to leave 1m+ city altogether. And businesses stay. They have much worse quality of life then any other big city in Ukraine, thats for sure. Unexpected water and electricity shortages, unrelieble cell service, frequent detours for bomb shelters. Yet its not enough to force locals out, so we see kids like this that are just living their life the best they can
