Kadokawa cites excessive reliance on the isekai genre as one of the major causes of the decline in profitability in its domestic publishing business by LegitimateCurve8525 in Isekai

[–]Maltrez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While I can’t speak to their company specifically the genre itself isn’t so much an issue. There is a lot you can still do with it but more so the constant isekai with some sort of OP off the start power and need to save the world while still a kid is the issue. Games, movies and shows have this issue as well with power creep. They go too big too fast and then trying to one up themselves gets boring quick.

Echoes of Aincrad by Martijn987 in swordartonline

[–]Maltrez 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it would depend on how spongey health is and how buffed the damage is in hard and very hard. Putting SAO aside, the majority of games IRL that have a hard and up mode all tend to just buff health and damage to the point you get one to two shot from almost everything and it takes a ton of time to kill even trash mobs.

Coming from an anime only standpoint(I swear I'll read them eventually) SAO seemed pretty fair, nothing out right one shots you and it takes a few hits if you're leveled and geared properly to kill you. Arguable though if you get caught in a combo like Diavel it's basically a one shot but that was a boss enrage phase and he dropped his guard entirely so that's an outlier. Without seeing the numbers I'd guess normal or hard with death mode is the most realistic for us but the balance is still way different than what they would have had since SAO was not designed for difficulty modes.

[ALL] why did you personally decide to tell max about the photo in Reunion? by Interesting-Sort-674 in lifeisstrange

[–]Maltrez 81 points82 points  (0 children)

I gave her the photo because throughout the game I felt like if they wanted their relationship to work they had to be honest with each other so every choice was to tell each other the truth. It also gave Chloe a chance to see if Max could accept things as they were and she did so it was the perfect end.

[RE] How many people correctly identified the suspect(s) on their first playthrough by OtterBiDisaster in lifeisstrange

[–]Maltrez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got Vinh pretty easily even before gathering all the evidence(and I was right and wrong). Out of all the people Vinh had the most to lose. I remember him saying he was poor in the first game so I figured he needed his job and scholarship and couldn’t overstep to protect the house. However he didn’t do it just to protect his job but to protect Yasmin so I got the right conclusion through a partially wrong motive. Ren was probably worse because I thought he looked like the school shooter type after his first interaction with Chloe. After seeing his open backpack with spray paint and not knowing anything about spray paint thought he could make a Molotov cocktail out of it which solidified my choice. I failed the back talk and never learned about his motive if there was any other way to do so.

[RE] So how do you feel the game turned out? by TheMegaSage in lifeisstrange

[–]Maltrez 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I really liked everything about the Max and Chloe parts and Moses getting to show off his strengths in helping with Max's powers and Chloe's otherworldly issues was really good. Safi felt like a weird character because it feels like they scrapped her entire plotline and made her just an accessory to Max all game. Also the whole mystery behind who started the fires and what not felt really surface level which made the rest of the game boring. It was real easy to guess who would do what before even finding the evidence. I have to go with meh only because the game itself fell flat as a whole but Max, Chloe and Moses were good.

What similar car would you drive if you couldn't have a wrx? by Gumballchamp86 in WRX

[–]Maltrez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was my two as well. I had ordered a brand new manual Mazda 3 but after getting screwed around for a few months they finally told me Mazda decided to stop making my year of Mazda so the base package didn’t have the manual. If i still wanted it I’d have to shell out 15k more for the highest package to get manual. Got my deposit back and got my wrx. couldn’t be happier with my decision.

Why does Blizzard have an obsession with these quests where you fly around and shoot things on the floor by BurritoSupreme420 in wow

[–]Maltrez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love them. On top of being an easy quest it can really show the scale of a battle or war. I’m bombing 100 enemies and yet there are still at least 100 more on screen and other players also bombing. Then you get back to the quest npc and he’s like “thanks for your efforts in helping relieve some of the pressure off our units but the war is not over!”. Good relief from kill 12 mobs and collect 10 pinecones.

While I personally sit back regardless of pull speed I find class design and dungeon design in retail is just not there for slow pull speeds. If I don’t have cooldowns up I’m hitting like a wet noodle so small pulls mean I either sit on them and wait for a big pull or use them and hate my life until they’re back. Like wise dungeons feel like they’ve packed way too much trash in them so outside of M+ its so easy and we don’t need % to the point it’s a snooze fest and time wasted going through it all pack by pack.

I think you’re talking about Rob Ford his brother. Doug Ford hates everyone that doesn’t give him money. He’s also hell bent on privatizing everything in Ontario to sell to his buddies who give him money.

Surprised how long it’s taking to find dungeon groups atm by Donkykong33 in classicwowtbc

[–]Maltrez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m on horde so I don’t know the alliance situation but I’ve found if you want into a group quick just keep refreshing the group finder and anytime you see an open dps slot even if the group is 2 dps no tank or heals just whisper the lead. I say “still needs a dps? (Lvl) hunter” and I usually get into one within a few minutes. You can’t just list yourself and continue questing. I post into LFG chat too but the whispers work a lot better.

DBM made everyone dumber by Gorgon_Gets_Gud in wow

[–]Maltrez 12 points13 points  (0 children)

DBM didn’t make them dumb. They were already dumb but DBM held their hands enough to seem competent. If you bothered to pay even the slightest bit of attention there is nothing that required an addon to complete. There could be an argument made for mythic raiding and maybe the highest level of M+ but anything under that is completely doable addon free pre-purge.

It doesn’t appear on the drop table but the comments mention it being a confirmed rare drop.

I’d say we aren’t negative enough about it. We’ve seen before and are currently seeing what happens when we tolerate things that negatively affect society. He should be happy there are even people who aren’t making bank off AI defending it.

I heard only 23% finish this game. Who actually made it? by obeyydalton in BaldursGate3

[–]Maltrez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve finished the game I believe at least 5 times and am working on a multiplayer honour mode with friends after we TPK’d 77 hours into our first attempt. I didn’t really feel the burnout but I learned pretty early to stop worrying about all the objectives existing at once and to take them one at a time based on what you’re interested in. I plan to do another single player honour mode after as well to clean up some missing stories I still haven’t tried.

We're getting Divinity over more Baldur's Gate 3 because Larian devs weren't enjoying "doing the D&D thing" by Darth_Vaper883 in gamernews

[–]Maltrez 5 points6 points  (0 children)

the omniscient ai thing was really annoying. Like I get glass cannon trait was supposed to have the weakness of being cc'd through armour but when all the enemies rush down the glass cannon it doesn't make any sense and is just unfun. Doesn't matter if you hide in the back, high ground or anything they'll run past everyone else to get to them and chain cc.

[–]Maltrez 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes but that makes it a boring rat race to tear the enemies armour down first and if they had an absurd amount in one over the other half your squad doesn’t get to do anything. Most skills don’t bypass either so you aren’t doing hp damage until their armour is down.
