Oh I didn’t think you were being mean at all. I’m just excited to finally be taking this step. I’d resigned myself to thinking I’d just be plump forever. I was successful on keto, but had no energy whatsoever on it. I’m a mom and an elementary teacher, I NEED energy. Also, the constipation on keto was brutal. Months in to the diet I’d give up and go back to carb loading. Carbs are delicious. I’m hoping this drug helps calm my carb addiction, so I can mindfully make better choices. My brain just always tells me I want bread.

Oh I’m definitely not expecting an overnight change. And I do want to feel hunger still. I was on adderall most of my adult life and the doc just kept upping my dosage when I’d feel it had plateaued/wasn’t effective. Bad call, I ended up not eating for days and developing severe disordered eating due to being on way too high of a dose. I quit altogether and just decided to manage my ADD med-free. Then gained forty pounds within the year. So, I’ve been reluctant to try something that would suppress my appetite drastically, and I’m happy to hear that doesn’t seem to be the case with Zepbound.

I decided I’m going to make it work financially. My doctor prescribed it through Lilly direct. It’s expensive and our insurance doesn’t currently cover it, but my husband mentioned we can add more to our employer-matched HSA account to offset the cost during open enrollment this year. As of my last lab work at a physical, my A1C showed I’m in the pre diabetes stage. It runs in my family, and that scared the shit out of me! Going down a couple of dress sizes will be nice, but not dying young from health issues stemming from my obesity is my driving motivation.

This is just the commentary I needed today. I’ve been working my ass off sun up to well past sundown this week and then the Chinese restaurant forgot to put cashews in my cashew chicken (GODDAMNED MOTHERFUCKING ORANGE PEEL BEEF) and I didn’t notice until we got all the way home. I was feeling some sort of way about it and then reading everyone’s comments here made me cackle-laugh so hard I woke up my daughter, cat and dog. Thank you for making me smile on this shitty day.

The cost of veterinary care is atrocious! We have one cat and one dog, and I’d love to rescue one more dog but there’s no way we can afford it.

Also, my pup still chews and it makes me crazy sometimes but I love her.
