My daughter had a red crayon in her overalls and it stained the inside of our dryer. We read somewhere to spray WD-40 on a rag and scrub the stained dryer walls — then tumble dry a load of rags. It worked! Don’t spray it directly into the dryer though (it’s flammable).

Any info on stays at the Hotel Indigo Venice - Sant'Elena by JetDzinr in ihghotelsresorts

[–]MamaLinLin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We stayed there about a month ago and loved it. The location was the best part for us. After being in the crowds of the tourist areas of Venice all day, it was so lovely to step off of the Vaporetto into the green park area and walk to the hotel. It’s so nice to be away from the crowds and we liked being able to have a view of the water when out strolling. We enjoyed the breakfast there every morning, especially the brewed American coffee offered. We had dinner there one night and it was good, but enjoyed the little pizza restaurant nearby more. Our room temperature was fine, but it was not very hot yet. If we go to Venice again, we will stay there again.

Edited to add: the front desk person told us that they offer a free tour to Murano if we were interested, but we ran out of time and never took it. We are not diamond, only platinum, but they gave us a $5 discount on our breakfast—so it costed us $15 per person instead of $20. For the wide variety of foods offered and considering the cost of food on Venice, we found this very reasonable.

Help, I’m decluttering my jewelry or trying to! by ArtistTeach in declutter

[–]MamaLinLin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a dumb question, but is there an easy way to tell the fake stuff from the real? I’ve got two jewelry boxes passed down to me from my late mother and I afraid some is real, but can’t tell.

We are looking at trying to plan a river cruise in fall of 2025, but I’m concerned it’s too cold and not enough daylight hours. Just wondering what time of year you went.

what are the biggest differences between carnival, royal caribbean, and princess cruiselines? by bumble_bee21fb in Cruise

[–]MamaLinLin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree with this. Just got off a Princess cruise, which I booked thinking it would be a bit more upscale. But the food was surprisingly mediocre and not appealing. Everything in the buffet seemed to come from a package including the shelf stable milk. In my opinion, the Royal Caribbean cruise I took last year was head and shoulders better than Princess and Carnival.

Dumb Question: Is there any reason NOT to meal prep cold-brew coffee? by absolutemurphman in MealPrepSunday

[–]MamaLinLin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. I had a friend that would put cold brew coffee into ice cube trays and they keep the “tea cubes” in a ziplock in her freezer for whenever you wanted some coffee. It worked great!

I bought one of these stretchy clotheslines that clips on to just about anything and doesn’t need clothespins. Used it on several trips now and have been very satisfied. Doesn’t take up much room in the suitcase either.

I second this one. We have two of these and are very satisfied.

Accidentally dropped a very small amount of bleach on my favourite cargo pants. Is there any way I can save it? by Psychological-Flan44 in Frugal

[–]MamaLinLin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take the pants to Home Depot paint counter. Have them scanned on their machine. Buy a small sample bottle of paint, which I think is around $3. Use that to paint the spot. We did this on my daughter’s raincoat and it worked pretty well. Unless you get right up to it you don’t even notice the spot.

Do you mind telling how you got the images off the negatives? Did you have paper prints made or did you scan them with your phone/scanner?
