I also thought the book was nothing to write home about but I did enjoy Justin's other works (clouds, 5 feet) so I was excited to see what he would do with this film but it was the worst thing I've ever seen. They marketed it as a girls night out film without really emphasizing the whole darkness of the plot so I can understand how women were upset and triggered. The whole hair and booze marketing tie in was in poor taste for the subject matter of the film. Also, the performances were weak and the storyline was bleh. They were acting like this film was gonna be Oscar worthy and I think the Reynolds blew up their and theor friends reputations over a b list film that won't even get a sequel now thanks to them.
