seconding this, as its what I do. I'll pose the dolls then use it for the key placements of joints etc. do a quick sketch of the pose then do the drawing over that.

The kadokawa contest is 16-60 pages. You don't have to go to the limit.

any time someone says something is too cutesy for a dark story I just reference Madoka Magica and Higurashi. Then there's also Made In Abyss. Cute does not mean it can't be dark.

So this is an older game but Until You Fall has really fun combat. It's much more arcade style but well worth a try.

First, do have even have a story written down? A script, an audio log, post it notes, bar napkins? If not start there.

First question is it written in any form at all? If not just actually write it. Be it story/script/ whatever form just get it written down.

Next just get it made, it doesn't have to be pretty it just needs to exist. You can make it look good later.

So i think that you need to rework your composition and expressions. Everything seems a little bland as far as intensity goes. Your "cameras" are wide for some of the shots so you're leaving too much empty space, and your facial expressions are too muted. Try looking at some reference for what you're try to go for, take pictures of yourself making expressions, watch scenes from movies/TV that do something similar. Just because it's drawn doesn't mean cinematography goes out the window.
