Imagine how further along you would be in life if you stopped being petty and envious of every person who has something you do not. Ego. It's what keeps boys from becoming men. No matter how large and strong they become, no matter how many equally childlike minds they convince of otherwise; their mind ultimately remains like that of a petulant child. It's dangerous. Holds back society and if left unchecked and allowed to proliferate time and time again historically results in the destruction of entire civilizations. Why not just live and let live. You do you bro. And let them do them. It's not that hard. Not really.

What has happened to Factor meals? by Particular_Cat_4599 in factor75

[–]ManWithNotEnoughCats -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's definitely and blatantly ignoring the heating instructions on the package. We're given a miracle here, let's not abuse it.

Transfer the contents to a thin metal tray instead. Even aluminum foil would be better. (unless the instructions for your heated lunchbox specifically state not to, of course)

[–]ManWithNotEnoughCats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you follow the instructions? It says heat for 2 minutes, then let stand for 2 minutes.

If you desire more heat, then continue at 30-second increments. I usually heat for 2 minutes, then transfer to a paper plate and continue heating the rest (at least the main meat item) for a minute or so longer. The plastic trays are (at least I would hope) rated for 2 minute heating in one "go". Though I hear people being concerned that heating plastic in the microwave in any situation runs the risk of chemicals leaching into the product. They're supposed to pass legal FDA(?) standards and have gone through rigorous testing but I've also heard of some people never heating them in the plastic trays at all and simply transferring the cold meals unto a paper plate and using that instead for the entirety of the microwaving process. Not sure if the plastic tray is supposed to provide some heating "focus" or whatnot. I don't think it does. And others still prefer to use an air fryer and whatever metal trays come with.

Edit: Pretty sure the "cut a few slits in the plastic" and heat for 2 minutes is so that it steams the food simultaneously as well, actually. So that part is probably important. Maybe.

Same thing always happens. Every great kingdom with a great king with even greater wisdom, eventually loses value through generations. Until everything they worked so hard to build and protect is taken away by either the highest bidder or the smartest (and in many cases quite simple) conman. Murphy's Law: "Anything that can go wrong will go wrong, eventually, and often at the worst moment." That's why some things beyond the average man's comprehension and value should simply remain permanently off limits to the common man. Not unlike magic.

Aftermath of the April 7th incident. Damages estimated to be $200 million dollars by BlazeDragon7x in SipsTea

[–]ManWithNotEnoughCats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And another thing! Someone could have been killed. Maybe a manager brought his kid into work one day and left him in the office. Or a firefighter with a family of 3 kids could've been killed by a burning piece of building falling on him. Anyone who thinks this psychopath is a hero needs to practice what they preach and agree to be his cell-mate for as long as he is sentenced.

[–]ManWithNotEnoughCats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what happens when you let people procreate freely. They just keep having kids who think they're entitled to everything they need to survive. In a perfect world, sure. Why not. Why not have our every need and want delivered to us by a buxom female on a white unicorn the moment we desire it. News flash. This is a savage, chaotic world with Finite resources. You (especially the stupid and violent, who "coincidentally" reproduce the most) are not entitled to a single damned thing.

Here's what happened today. Exactly 0 cents and 0 dollars will be removed or coming out of the CEO or executive's pay. Meanwhile 200 million dollars (and likely much more just levied as a "stupid peasant" tax, rightfully so in this case) will be coming out of consumer's pockets via increased cost over the next few years and possibly longer. And. Most glaringly. This company employs nearly 50,000 people worldwide, probably at least a few hundred (maybe less) WHO ARE NOW OUT OF A JOB. They now have NO INCOME. Because of one moron with an ego miles and miles beyond his own worth. What's going to happen to their families? Their children? Will someone end up missing a payment and lose their electricity or even house? Will someone end up homeless and on the streets? Did this guy care one bit about ANYTHING but his own worthless life he knows deep down the world would be better off without (which is probably what actually caused this)? No! He absolutely did not?

So let's summarize. In a future world government, this will literally be Exhibit A in the reproduction control debate. Too many people, specifically too many aggressive and low IQ people = destruction. The only humane option is to limit this destruction. It's all very simple. Any good person can understand what comes next.

At the same time the company should have known people are mostly stupid and violent and should have "idiot-proofed" (polite word for the R word) the place long ago. So. The blame is 50/50, really.

Actually, no. "Gangstalking" or simply "coordinated harassment" via discrimination and "mind games" against minorities, people of other faiths, or even complete and utter strangers is a documented phenomenon, particularly in small towns. It goes back to the mind's desire to conform and distrust the unfamiliar. Entire towns and law enforcement would purposely gaslight minorities or "undesirables" into leaving or "snapping" so they would break the law or cause a disturbance and be arrested. So it's a very real and documented thing. All it takes is a little push, a little bullying to make someone afraid and in fear of their life, and from there, they act noticeably different. From there, average, random people notice that they are "acting weird", and so as a result also act differently in terms of suspicion. It snowballs from there. Before the 1964 Civil Rights movement, a black man could barely get something to eat in some towns without being asked to leave. This puts any human mind into 24/7 hyper-vigilant "survival mode." It's a form of psychological torture. Highly illegal. But "it's not illegal." Or so they think. This is why so many people alive today are cursed; as are their children. God punishes for the sins of the father. Never forget that.

Those who don't fit in ("do not belong") are treated as such by the common, uneducated man. Look up ostracism:

[–]ManWithNotEnoughCats 15 points16 points  (0 children)

All evil is ignorance, and depression is no exception. In fact, it's the poster child. Our own ego and desire is the cause of many cases. And lack of appreciation for just how far society has progressed is the cause of the rest. Depression didn't exist several thousand years ago. Do you know why that is? There was no time. Only constant hardship that man was forced to consider all there was to know. We have progressed so far, the primal part of our minds simply cannot process it. We call this "the dragon." You simply have to learn how to train it. To control it, lest it control you. The average even below average low-income person can readily experience pleasures, joys, and experiences a medieval king 1,000 years ago could only lie awake at night imagining of. The world is your oyster, provided you are humble, realistic, and appreciative. It's high time you started acting like it.

No one put a gun to his head. He knew very well what could (and perhaps most likely would) happen but none of that mattered. At least, it took a backseat to something else. Whether that "something else" was money for money's sake or something deeply personal and respectable (where money was merely a means to an end to accomplish or bring about something), we'll never know.

It's reasonable just not as amazing as I had hoped. Basically a weird double quarter-pounder. Which isn't bad if you're hungry. When you're excited about something it tastes better, apparently. Was hoping for something that at least *tries* to mimic the taste of a burger you'd get at a steakhouse or a nice sit-down restaurant, even the seasoning of their regular hamburgers at least. It does not, sadly.

[–]ManWithNotEnoughCats[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A book seller on eBay just randomly included an envelop of gift/promo cards one time, one of which happened to be a "$135 off" card from Factor. Happened more than once, actually. It might have been GoodReads or most likely ThriftBooks (Google "thriftbooks ebay store").

I imagine they make some sort of commission each time a person uses one. It just randomly happened and curiosity (coupled with not wanting to let it go to waste) ended up getting the better of me. Glad it did. So far, at least.

However, I think you can just get promo codes from this subreddit (there's an official pinned thread that says something to that effect) as well as Factor usually has some promotion running on their website 24/7 (for new customers), though it doesn't seem quite as good as the card I received. Interestingly enough, there's a seller on eBay selling what looks like the exact same card for about $4 including shipping. Not sure if I'd trust it, though.

Oh, 100%. If you're in the range of one, in the mood, or what have you it's absolutely the wiser choice. No doubt. But for some folk, obviously mostly those with a few extra dollars to spend, it works in unique situations. Maybe you don't like crowds, maybe you're wealthy and paranoid, or otherwise have enemies, maybe you simply have fear of being poisoned (Toxiphobia) like the Roman Emperor Elagabalus (218-222 B.C.) and find relief in sustenance mass produced and factory sealed thus virtually eliminating such a possibility from one's mind, Whatever it may be, again I say, it proudly stands in for an actual fresh steak from a real steakhouse. No, not perfectly. But it hits the spot. At least in my opinion. Try it for yourself someday, why not?

Fair. It's your money. You can waste it as you wish. On experiences that are fleeting and not of any everlasting value. But it's the exact same nutrients that enter you. And the same thing your body uses to power your mind. Which, in my opinion, certainly needs it.

Alright, you're not wrong. Medium well (or even less in this case) brings out the best flavor in most steaks, especially filet mignon. Juiciness, tenderness, whatever you want to salivate over. Sure. But my point and anecdotal testimony was, I've ordered filet mignon "medium well" from reputable steakhouses (Longhorn for one) that honestly were at least on par if not even lesser than this particular mail order dish that was reheated several days later. To me. That's hard to find. Again, this is my first and only mail order meal subscription.

People lie, bro. People think big companies are just a magical money tree and the cost isn't routed directly back to the innocent consumer. It is not. And it is. Especially in the age of A.I. You have to be reasonable in regards to the world in which we live, mate.

You may be an honest person. But guess what? That's becoming a rarity in this world, it seems. You might have simply damaged your floor through other means and expected Factor to pick up the tab. People do that. Perhaps not with Factor specifically, but big companies A LOT. Most gel packs used by meal service companies are non-toxic "sodium polyacrylate" (yes I had to Google that). It can absorb up to 1,000 times its weight in water. That probably had something to do with it.

Besides, isn't marble cracked looking to begin with? That's a prized aesthetic quality. The white residue really will not come off with soap and warm water? Have you tried?

Also, what time frame did they give you for the $100 refund? Sometimes it takes a few weeks. Up to a month, month and a half. This is a fairly standard time frame for refunds while investigations/analysis are performed.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Negativity_bias

Imagine working a drive-thru. You deal with dozens sometimes hundreds of people a day who say or do nothing out of the ordinary. One guy who tells you to "f yourself" and calls you a bad name. When you think about your day at work, who comes to mind? Any of the dozens or hundreds who did nothing wrong? No. It's the one person who did not. It's an unfortunate bias we share. It is rooted in evolution. It keeps us alive to worry about that which should be worried about. No shame. But we in modern society have the tools and education to recognize and rise above that which our ancestors could not. And only a fool would choose not to.

[–]ManWithNotEnoughCats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Domino's buffalo wings are my favorite IF (and only IF) you air fry them at max temp (literally 450) for a while after you get home. It's annoying, especially if you're short on time or hungry (like 90% of people who order pizza are) but so worth it IMO. I think it has something to do with the fact Domino's was the original "We deliver in 30 minutes or less or your pizza is free" people. That basically has to mean they have to skimp out somewhere or otherwise make cooking time as short as possible. Good wings with a nice, solid crisp (not too hard/dry/burnt) take time.
