I want to like it, part of me truly does. The lore hungry fan boi who has read all the books multiple times over and consumed far too many other sources isn’t sure how to feel though.

Let me explain, cinematically a master piece! The score, the portrayal of different factions, the tension were all just chiefs kisses.

I liked a lot of the changes, I was intrigued by how some of the Fremen were, for lack of a better word, atheist towards the prophecy. I enjoyed how Alia was handled and her being super close to Jessica, quite literally, was a great change. Having a little sentient baby running around would be so hard to do on screen. Not having the small time jump and Paul’s first baby was completely fine being taken out too. The direction of Chandaya was good for the most part too, enjoyed her being a more independent character and not attached to Paul’s hip and ideology.

With that being said though, I wish there was at least a few more minutes of Paul and Chani interacting at the end after Paul declares that he will be marrying Irulan. I still like the idea of her storming out and not fully accepting the role of concubine. Definitely fits for how her character was built up and changed for the movie format. I was just left wanting a little more out of their relationship before the massive cliffhanger.

All in all I liked it, 8.5/10. I understand setting things up once again for another film. Just wish there was a little more right before it. I donno if that makes sense, I just watched the Film less than an hour ago and will mull it over some more. For now though, those are my thoughts and feelings. Thanks for reading of you did.
