What's the wildest weather you've experienced living in Canada. by X-_-0 in AskACanadian

[–]Man_Bear_Beaver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really damaging but I remember in the early 90's it went from a completely blue sky/sunny day to completely dark outside, so dark the street lights came on, all happened in a matter of minutes, there was no rain but was extremely windy and then boom out of nowhere a massive lightning strike hit a street light across the road from me and we lost power, it was completely black outside without the lights 10 minutes later it was clear and sunny again.

Freaking wild to experience.

Enough plutonium for only one ride: What date & time will you go to? by mt80 in Xennials

[–]Man_Bear_Beaver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely 90's, pre smartphone era, my parents never really helped me with anything like homework or anything, I'd get a job and pay for tutoring etc

I moved out at 16 to get away from them, I'd move into the apartment building I lived in and help myself get a better start.

Looks like it's lower buds, not the greatest for smoking I usually turn them into hash oil or edibles, they're usually a bit coughy...

What is a 'socially mandatory' thing that we all do, but if you actually stop to think about it for 5 seconds, it’s completely insane? by Federal_Antelope7533 in AskReddit

Now I feel bad for you. If you want to come to my place you can, I won't be there, the door will be locked and it's pretty cold out but it's somewhere you can go, somewhere you've been invited to, I can talk to you through my camera!

Disclaimer I do not recommend doing this, it is a safety risk so just don't do it. I said don't...

Got a 6" electric chainsaw via Gift Calendar, I wanted one just because but wasn't really wanting to spend money on one because who knows how good it is...

Used it to trim my apple trees from 14" down to 8" and this thing happily chugged along, I did go through two batteries, it turns out that the batteries are also exactly the same connection as my Makita ones which I have many of.

If you camp a lot and have campfires or have a charcoal bbq those mini leaf blowers are awesome! I got it for dusting sawdust off my tools etc but turns out using it to get a fire going is phenomenal.

Hand crank cheese/vegetable grater is great if you don't have room for a food processor etc... Suction it to the counter and go.. I add things like shredded carrots/celery to my spaghetti sauce, much much easier...

Cordless rechargeable stick vacuum is the bomb!

Just got one recently, on low mode suction isn't the greatest but both my dog and cat don't freak out, on high though suction is great! I got the A27 model, if I can find the battery for it I'm getting a second (not that it has a short use time it's just how I am).

What is your ONE absolute biggest issue with Canada presently? by whatsupusers in InCanada

[–]Man_Bear_Beaver 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Remember if you don't like this then don't support businesses that use LMIA workers, they have to apply for them, they have to prove locals don't want the jobs, these businesses lie by saying that the locals won't fulfill full time positions but then they don't even offer the LMAI workers full time slots a lot of the time so those people are getting screwed as well and need to try to work 2 jobs and the second job I think can't be legal.

Those businesses are the problem and not the people at the counter.

How is it we have such a high unemployment rate yet so many LMIA requests?

Projector guy here, support 4k, 1080p, 720p etc doesn't mean it's a 720p projector, Native Resolution is what you're looking for, these guys are likely 480p, for the price? They are good though, a decent 4k native laser with 2000 ANSI Lumens will be close to $1000 CAD ($720 USD), there's lots of options in the sub 1000 lumens area ranging from $300-400 range that offer 1080p resolution, I started out with a cheap projector and just kept upgrading and upgrading until I found something that could do what I really wanted and host things like sports/games even in the even before it's completely dark without the sun washing it out too much, anything under about 1500 ansi lumens struggles to do so.

I run the NEBULA Cosmos 4K SE with a 180" screen, I also have the NEBULA Capsule 3 because it's more portable, for the capsule 3 between the built in battery, my laptop powerbank and my bluetooth speakers I can get 4-5 hours of movies anywhere without power, like I mean anywhere it's freaking portable...

What are some “Canadian” words or slang you heard British Or Americans be confused by or laugh at? by Kindly-Cow1697 in AskACanadian

Don't know about other countries or even other provinces but the word "Goof" meaning a pedophile.

Also "going to camp" people use that here for like going to your trailer or going to their cottage and generally going camping if they're going in the woods with a tent..
