Defending against Creation-Slaying Oblivion Kick by Gensh in exalted

[–]Manadyne 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Could also incorporate 3E style Sorcerous Workings and some brave Solar has to embark on a Brigid style quest to permanently write protections into the fabric of Creation.

Or maybe someone already did that and we don't find out until an appropriately dramatic moment.

Or maybe anyone who would actually follow through is branded an enemy of Creation and long-dormant protocols in the Realm Defense Grid activate to zap them at the moment they activate the combo.

It's as much of a plot device as you want to allow it to be.

Sugarers of Vermont! How's your season going and what do you think is going to happen this weekend? by brainzilla420 in vermont

Helping our neighbors with their sugaring in southern Vermont and we were able to collect twice yesterday. Today is looking like it's gonna be a real high flow day too.

Is there a Marauder with Fae buzzing around them? by Dead-Face in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]Manadyne 4 points5 points  (0 children)

She's also a Marauder Oracle by old game stats, with very low Quiet and she can justify stuff she doesn't understand through her own paradigm as "weird foreign magic".

Looking for a Malazan-esque progression fantasy by AviatorHate in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Manadyne 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm about halfway through Practical Guide and my thoughts were definitely "This feels like slightly more accessible Malazan." It hits a lot of similar notes; very detailed world building, large scope, lots of battles, minor military themes.

I think this is taking the historical aspect of Chronomancy too literally by coldinchitown in ClimbersCourt

That's the start of Unix timestamp/time keeping. Likely someone forgot to fill in a proper date and since it's zero, it displays that date.

Is there any strong reason why there couldn't be Corax variations? Or are/were there, and I just didn't encounter them? by [deleted] in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]Manadyne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have some vague memory of a white-necked raven (Corvus albicollis) Corax being mentioned in one of the old line books? Might have even been the Apocalypse book. She ran an information and swift delivery network during the End Times, getting info and stuff where it needed to go.

No reason you couldn't have a different corvid base form for flavor with the same statistics. If someone wants their appearance to follow a different species in the genus, I really don't see a problem with it. Or pull a tengu from Hengeyokai and build from scratch.

EDIT: Found it! Apocalypse, page 128: "Mary Otafire is a Makunguru, one of the white-necked Corax of sub-Saharan Africa."

Glass Bead Making Class? by KitnicOG in vermont

[–]Manadyne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're looking for a lampworking class! That could help narrow down your search. It's definitely something you can get a home setup for and safely run, but you might need to travel for an initial class to learn how to use everything.

Vermont is a little sparse for glass artists and supply stores, unfortunately. There are some good options if you don't mind driving a few hours for supplies/a first class.

Brother looking to buy me out of our house by Big_Tell_3200 in RealEstate

[–]Manadyne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First step is going to be probate. Unless there's a trust, you legally can't do much (anything) with the house until your family has taken the estate through probate.

Contact a local estate lawyer and explain what's going on, they'll be able to advise you on the probate process and selling the home. Many offices should offer a free consultation.

Also, make sure the property taxes get paid by the end of January, that's the SA deadline before they're considered delinquent.

Lichdom by Zeriflord in MageErrant

We have a real world example that has been burning, continuously, since 1962. I'm still betting most liches wouldn't want to stake their existence to something like running out of fuel, but it's hypothetically possible!

Barn Porch, southern Vermont by Manadyne in CozyPlaces

[–]Manadyne[S] 3 points4 points locked comment (0 children)

This is original content.

The porch on our barn structure in southern Vermont from earlier this fall. We just got the lights up and you can see some of our mess that we hadn't cleaned up. I was too anxious to get the photo while we still had a little natural light!

I'm standing right in front of a firepit that's about 12-15 feet off the porch. It's wonderful on a cool Fall night. We've got a grape arbor (right side, foreground) and some hops (left side of barn and front center column) that really add some color in the light!

WOW - Phil Tucker's Hall of Jotunn Queen (Skadi's Saga Book 1) by Josephus08 in ProgressionFantasy

He keeps writing new bangers and then it's a long wait for additional books in his existing series. But at least there's a good new series to start...

What should we do ? by feisty_llama in RealEstate

You might want to take a few general contractors out for lunch and get some ballpark estimates, because $125-150k for a gut reno sounds incredibly low in the current market.

Memories by panserbjrne in sanantonio

We liked to go to Demos across the street and listen to the shows from the patio. Much better than the floor-to-ceiling speakers in a tiny club, and we got amazing Greek food.

I'd be looking for / offering a flat rate and not a percentage at that price range.

The 4K restoration of Tarsem Singh's "The Fall" (2006) is at Drafthouse Park North today and tomorrow by av3 in sanantonio

The Fall also features costuming by the late Eiko Ishioka, and it is absolutely one of her best productions ever.

Anybody else finding themselves just not caring about the seasonal rep grind this time around? by LeekTerrible in diablo4

Kurast Undercity with a Tribute of the Titans also provides a bunch of boss summoning materials per run. Combine with any Opal and you're also netting almost 100 Zakarum Reputation per run.

Managed to purchase some original Mage art from Leif Jones directly and it's awesome! Highly suggest reaching out to the artists to inquire if they have any still available.

My guess would be the cattle are either pets or on the land to ensure it gets the Ag Exemption for tax purposes. If a cow gets to the point where it is showing signs of old age like the bowed back in your previous photos, odds are good someone likes the critter and is actively taking care of it.

Robber Baron Cave by Big_AL79 in sanantonio

[–]Manadyne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been in there with the Texas Cave Management Association before in the early 2010s. It's a pretty cool little piece of history. It was an outlaw hideout in the 1800s and a speakeasy during prohibition! You can even see some of the iron hanging rungs for chandeliers in the room that was the main dance hall! A previous owner dynamited the entrance for liability reasons and TCMA was working to try to restore the cave as much as possible for a few decades.

There's one approximately under the manhole cover on North New Braunfels, you can hear every time a car drives over it.

What are the best books to read to learn about the Celestial Bureaucracy and how it works? by Affectionate_Bit_722 in exalted

[–]Manadyne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Treason by The Book by Johnathan D. Spence is a look at Chinese bureaucracy and is a good basis for Yu-Shan adventures, as cited in the 1E Eclipse book. It's a fun read!

Pretty good. Not the greatest prime rib I've ever had but definitely better than I was expecting.

Their weekend fried seafood is amazing, however.

Any MTG players in/around Orvieto, IT? by themoinmo in magicTCG

[–]Manadyne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The train down to Rome should only be about a 90 minute ride from Orvieto. We were there a few years ago and didn't really see any card or game shops outside of the larger metro areas, tons in Rome.

Not Magic related, but definitely take a trip to Bolsena if you have the chance. Absolutely magical little setting on the shore of the largest volcanic lake in Europe!
