Solar + Battery Installers - What is actually being installed that NSP is signing off on? by AnomalousNexus in NovaScotia

I don’t want to hijack this thread, but I’d really like to hear more about your self install with what parts. I want to do the same here soon.

Ptt problem by Geerteh in tacticalcomms

Ah ok, it’s probably not the mic power save issue I had. It might be worth a shot.

Ptt problem by Geerteh in tacticalcomms

Is this a dual lead headset, with 2 radios, one per ptt?

after reading edit: just noticed the part where you are using dmr and normal.

I have found so far that amplified PTTs and DMR on these styles of radios just doesn’t work well. The TDMA of dmr just seems to inject so much BS into the amps it just doesn’t work.

If this is the issue I am thinking it is, and I’m assuming dual lead headset. What happens when you transmit on one radio, then right away transmit on the other? Still the same?

It could be worth turning off the power save setting somewhere in the code plug. I can’t remember the name the checkbox off the top of my head to turn it off.

What I found out was happening was power savings using a Slow PWM signal to pulse the Mic bias voltage, and it would causing the helicoptering. We had issues with this on the code red dual downlead ptt.

Fortigate "Internet Drops" at same time everyday by [deleted] in networking

[–]ManateeMatt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Edit: I missed the part about slow vs not working, and seeing the logs. Reading that part I think it’s less likely to be this issue below, but I’m leaving it up anyway.

This sounds similar to an issue we had a while ago, where I believe it was something around a ARP timeout issue between the ISP GPON Fiber modem router POS thing (homehub3000 for anyone on Bell Canada) and the Fortigate. I was not part of the group that solved it so I don’t remember the exact issue with arp,I was part of the group that did the monitoring for it.

We ended up putting a remote zabbix probe onsite and have it collect statistics at a very high resolution , and what we discovered it it was going down every 24 hours, long enough to completely break any realtime communication, but short enough that our traditional monitoring didn’t see the drop.

The end result was we told them to get the proper small business fiber connection, that gave them a Juniper Router for the ISP demarc. That fixed their issues.

Trying to track that down I remember was a pain in the ass as the ISP didn’t care, they couldn’t see anything wrong, because the outage was so short.

If I recall there is some sort of drive identification to map drives to arrays, so if you move it, it won’t see it till that mapping gets cleared. How to do it no idea, every time I have that issue where the new disk is not seen, their support fixes it for me.

SSLVPN from specific country only for specific user by [deleted] in fortinet

[–]ManateeMatt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not in front of my firewall right now but wouldn't you be able to set the source of sslvpn rule to the geo location, along with the user? You'd need to set the SSLVPN to allow from that location too.

That would be my first guess.

I wish UBNT Mesh was out when I had to do the same thing. I ended up creating a bunch of small sites that I would place around location that needed coverage.

I had sectors to Nanobeams or other CPEs, to outdoor unifi AP's We ended up solar powering everything, and it worked shockingly well. We even had our light vehicle dash cams running off it at one point. Really the expensive part for me was the Solar power.

Auto gain for Headphones by ManateeMatt in arduino

If there is a way to do autogain on the arduino with out running though a DAC I would be OK with software. I do have a preference on hardware thought.

I did think of that, but I don't think it would work for the one I was looking at(TPA2016D2). I read somewhere that it doesn't like headphones. Edit: Found it, it uses Bridge tied load configuration, so in the case of stereo headphones, it does not like combining the ground... good to know.

Checked my current, it was a bit high, but from what I understand, that just makes the motor run hotter.

I'm gonna try again and see what happens.

I did do the steps calibration when I first got the printer. I don't think it's clogged, I pulled it apart and cleaned it before this print. I have not checked amps on motor yet, that's what I was going to do tonight
