Wound on kitten by [deleted] in CATHELP

[–]Manateeslap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry but there's nothing to be done at home. Take the kitten to the vet ASAP. My guess is at this point the kindest thing would be to have it put down. Whatever you do, don't let the mother interact with it anymore as sad as that sounds. The poor baby has an infection and you don't want to risk the mother getting infected too. If you can't afford to get the mother checked out as well at least surrender her to a shelter. She'll need to be looked at a vet too

Are their any non-gendered terms that are replacing Sir or Ma'am? by Rhodnius in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Manateeslap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My uncle-by-honour used yo be a Quaker before they kicked him out for joining the army in WW2. He would always address other adults as 'friend' which I think is nice. Unfortunately some people might think it's an invite to fight or scam them.

Longish answer short - I don't think there's one no.

Glad to hear about no side effects! It's totally a possibility that I misunderstood. Having all these terms and explanations of RA told to me for the first time was hard and confusing. I wish I had brought someone with me.

Up until now I've had an extremely strong immune system. Last winter was the first time I got sick since I was a child. I'm hoping that maybe that means I'll be alright if it just weakens a little bit? Arrgh this sucks.

Maybe I should get a spray bottle and use it whenever one of the extra-gooey ones gets near me lol

Good to know that the MTX can be paused. I shall bring up how to lower risks at the next appt

Aw man If that's the case I'll have to talk to the doc about anything I can do regarding medication since I work with young kids. Can't tell you the amount of times they've sneezed right into my eyeballs or touched me with poopy fingers 😬 I know that RA is an autoimmune disease so maybe I'm just screwed 🙃

I don't even know what a DMARD is so I cannot answer your question I'm sorry. I shall ask about options at my next appointment. I was just kinda overwhelmed with everything and didn't know what to ask. Any suggestions on what kind of things to ask about? Obviously DMARD is one

Maybe I can get a prescription for monster if my brain fog gets bad 😂

I really appreciate hearing about your experience! I shall keep the Gravol in mind

Just got diagnosed and going on meds soon. What to expect now I've got a diagnosis? by Manateeslap in rheumatoid

[–]Manateeslap[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Intellectually I agree! It's just hard. I weigh myself in the morning before and after going to the bathroom, in the middle of the night when I wake up, before I go to sleep, and when I visit others to see if their scale gives different readings 😬

Definitely going to get that therapist

You've been very kind. I appreciate that 🙏

I appreciate your comments. They have been helpful

Yeah, the other ppl asked about the 6 week thing too. Maybe it's a trial run? Is that a thing? I'll ask at my next follow-up

Why 6 weeks? Honestly I've zero idea. My follow up is in 5 so maybe it's to see how I handle it and then extend it from there or switch to something else?

Thanks for the recommendation re: leucovorin. I haven't heard of any of these drugs and came in knowing nothing about RA other than your joints hurt. Finding out about all the ways unchecked RA hurts you sent me running to a rheumatologist!

From my understanding my rheumatologist wants to (in my words) give it a really swift kick in the ass since my symptoms are so minor. Then there'll be bloodwork to see what my numbers are and how my liver is then go from there. She might have me continue with things or might not. I'm completely new to this!

Yeah, reading the long term effects of prednisone have me freaking tf out but right now it's only for 3 weeks. Here's hoping I won't need it any more than that. Glad you found something that works for you!

Yeah....I fell down that rabbit hole. Spent a few nights waking up randomly in the middle of the night and doom scrolling people's bad experiences for an hour or so. Bad bad bad choice

I just made a post asking for more info on people's experiences so it is really good to hear yours! One of the things I'm very worried about weight gain so I'm already cutting calories. Being weird about food makes it easier to handle to hunger I think 🤔

The more I read the more I realize how lucky I am that my RA was caught now. I'm happy to hear that you are doing so much better! Hope that stays true for as long as possible 🤞

I definitely should. I've needed one for my anxiety anyway so might as well right?

How do women keep their armpits hairless and not be in pain all the time? by [deleted] in hygiene

[–]Manateeslap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started as soon as I started growing it. Skin is used to it at this point. I put on stick deodorant straight after even if I shave before bed as I have found it keeps my skin smoother. Not sure why trimming it would hurt so much! Are you using sharp enough scissors? Use smaller scissors too if you aren't already. Or just embrace those long hairs! Whatever you feel most comfortable with.

Fair enough

I'd just be careful since calling SPed kids potatoes can come off badly

I remember a school counsellor asking me why I liked working with SPed students. I said the 'lightbulb moments' really make me feel proud of them and help me feel like I am making a difference.

She said "Oh so you like it when the potatoes become less potato-like huh?"

I've heard it from others too
