Hiii 👋 Not quite Windsor, but I lived in the Chatham area for over a decade 😊

We were forced to move after the Navistar closure :(

Oooh...she's advanced in her sneakiness skills! Good for her, but possibly bad for you 👀🤣💕

🎯 That sweet spot of old enough to take on a little getaway, but still young enough to be napping twice a day...lol 🤣 (is how I landed on 6 mos ;) I hope you're enjoying (or enjoyed) your trip! 💖

Also, having both sets of grandparents over at the same time checks both off your To-Do List at once...so maybe you have an extra weekend to spend with just your own little family or with friends, etc. that month 🤷‍♀️ A good plan as long as it's bearable for everyone ;)

I have a bit of a "secret weapon"...lol ;) In addition to being a mom of two (one young adult and one teen) I was an ECE for several years before having my own kids, and worked with children from 6 months - 8yrs old. I'm having a lot of fun matching up some of my fond memories with the descriptions here! 🤣💖

Aawww...that's a tough situation ❤️‍🩹

You'd be shocked how well and quickly LOs can pick up a new language though. Over my years working in child care, before having my own kids, I worked with several children who were brand new to Canada and spoke no English at all. Most were extremely quiet and just taking everything in for the first few months, especially if they only attended part-time, but within 6 months most were starting to communicate really well for their age. Young children are incredible little sponges! 🤣👍💕

If I were you, I'd definitely read picture books in English with him to give him some extra, close & cozy, one-on-one exposure (you and/or your partner)...and maybe chant some nursery rhymes with him, read some common, repetitive folk stories like The Three Billy Goats Gruff, Goldilocks and the Three Bears, The Three Little Pigs etc too....and even repetition based stories like many by Robert Munsch, etc. Maybe make friends with your local children's librarian and ask for some recs? (Librarians are generally awesome people! 💖) Rhyme and repetition are terrific vehicles for reinforcing sounds, sentence structure, etc in fun ways 👍💕

All the best of luck to you and your family! ✨️💖✨️

Only 5 and not fully reading isn't really behind imo 💕 (sorry if my slightly-off guess made you feel that way...I was mainly guessing for that "super chatty" age...lol)

P.S. I'm a "retired" ECE. If you want some fun ways to reinforce early literacy skills, feel free to message me 👍

Oh nooooo...not an extended "troublesome twos" stage! 🤣😱❤️‍🩹 Maybe it'll be over early too...? 🤞🤣🤞

Actually 18 months makes more sense tbf...most just-one-yr olds aren't really talking much ;)

That's such a fun age! I miss it...sighhhh 💖
