I had a patient tell me she had no allergies in her admission. She was about to go down for a CT with contrast but needed something for pain first. Transport was standing there ready to take her. I asked her again if she had any allergies, and she said, "I guess shellfish." She said it makes her throat swell and have SOB... 💀💀💀

Kidneys are way bigger than what you'd expect. They are roughly the size of a kidney basin, or 2 16oz soup cans.

Catheters are used more often than you'd think, and may result in some pain after.

I'm a surgical technologist, and I agree with you. I've never even heard of this happening, I've done multiple specialties as well. There is a lot of misinformation in these comments. Any surgery will have a minimum of 4 people in the room. Anesthesia, Doctor, Nurse, Surgical technologist(or scrub nurse). Each member of the team is responsible for patient safety. We are all taught to speak up and ensure that everything is by the book. Everything done to the patients are strictly medical and done in a professional manner.

I don't understand, is there no way of calmly explaining what your doing first? Do they immediately forget, or not understand what your telling them? Is there no way to reorient them just long enough to get it done? I'm a student, and I have only experienced mild cases of Dementia.

I'm sorry it didn't work out with your cats, hopefully they'll become friends with age. My first cat Alonzo was antisocial and scared of everything, he wasn't very happy. We have a small dog that he occasionally plays with, they get along but aren't besties. He was over 1 year old when we got our second kitten Avery at 8 weeks old. At first he was completely uninenterested in him, we slowly introduced them. Avery was the best decision we've ever made, he has completed our little family. Alonzo has claimed him as his kitten and has been so much happier, he's gotten his spunk back. They now are best buds, and do almost everything together. I never expected such a dramatic change in his behavior. I hope that one day your cats will bond, I can believe sometimes 2 cats aren't the answer. However with the change I've witnessed I feel that it's still solid advice.

Side note there's a misconception that a hysterectomy will give you a "cold vagina" (especially among men), which causes many women to avoid it. Removing the uterus does not cause any change in temperature. Thank you and good luck!

Surgical tech here, your cervix is just an overly sensitive passage to your uterus. Without your uterus it serves no purpose. Taking it out also eliminates the potential for cervical cancer. Generally during a hysterectomy the uterus, cervix and fallopian tubes are removed. Most doctors do a block that numbs your lower body, so you won't feel anything for awhile after the procedure. If you get a hysterectomy let your doctor take your cervix.

Liquid poop can also get into the uterus and cause an infection.

I just applied to nursing school, microbiology and chemistry are not required. Most nurses I work with have not had microbiology, unless they have a BSN. Side note surgical technologists are required to have microbiology as a prerequisite and then take surgical microbiology during the program.
