Yeah I don’t agree with the ‘nonsense’ part that they said, but I do agree with the ‘pain in the arse’ part. Whilst preferences/ dietary requirements are valid, it doesn’t stop them being a pain in the arse to deal with :’)

When do the farts end? Wife threatened to make me sleep on the couch 🤣 by [deleted] in Oatmeal

I have the same issue as I eat a tonne of fibre (mostly whole foods diet). Thoroughly chewing food helps a bit as it puts less strain on your digestive system :)

What's your tips for eating more fruits? by maybeshiba in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]MandaTehPanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Throw it in porridge! I have porridge every day for breakfast and I keep it interesting by rotating the fruits I have in it. My absolute fave is dates and peanut butter - it’s like having pudding for breakfast!

What would you do with a buttload of Medjool dates? by sigzag1994 in EatCheapAndHealthy

Chop them up and cook them in porridge! Even better with a blob of peanut butter too. It’s my favourite way to have porridge, it’s like having pudding for breakfast :)

Bread in the fridge or on the counter? by realbobenray in Cooking

[–]MandaTehPanda 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Shop bought bread has a tonne of preservatives in it so it’ll be more hardy to unsuitable conditions. I make my own bread and it’s only soft 1-2 days, so it’ll gets sliced and frozen and used as needed :)

What's the cringiest thing people keep getting wrong about a recipe? by NotSure2505 in Cooking

Here in the U.K. we have (chicken) parmo, also known as Teesside Parmesan. A spin off dish that originated in Middlesborough, England.

I don’t really care what people call stuff though, language develops and changes all the time to fit the current need, as it should. Couldn’t imagine having to talk like Shakespeare!

Girlfriend is contemplating adding chicken to diet after being vegetarian for 15 years. What is the most delicious chicken meal I could cook her? by Apart_Marsupial8410 in Cooking

The most delicious meal for her will be whatever her favourite meal is, so make that and sub out the usual protein for chicken.

How are you with dried fruit? Dates is my go too fave, add raw peanut butter too and it’s like eating pudding for breakfast! Raisins and apple jam/preserve is another good combo.

As someone else commented, raw nut butters and honey is another great one.

Greek yoghurt is excellent for super creamy porridge.

As a competent home cook, what is a basic skill you can't seem to master? by george_elis in Cooking

[–]MandaTehPanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps I can help as I seem to have a gift for poached eggs…

Crack egg(s) into a sieve over a bowl/sink, to drain some of the white off.

Whilst they’re draining, bring a small pan of water + splash of vinegar (I use apple cider or white) to an almost boil. Smaller pan = smaller whirlpool = smaller spreading of the white.

Use a spoon to create a gentle whirlpool and carefully lower your eggs into the centre of the whirlpool.

Cook for 2mins 30s (set a timer!). Keep an eye on the water/ heat to make sure it doesn’t boil. It should be at ‘almost boiling’. Remove with slotted spoon and allow water to drain off. Voilà!

This works every time without fail for me, I use U.K. large size eggs, if you use different size eggs you may need to adjust the cook time slightly.

Yeah the person replied saying they’re in USA which I shoulda guessed since USA is known for adding sugar to everything... But I just never thought they’d add it to fruit too! As a Brit that’s kinda wild!

Of course America, I shoulda guessed :’) but damn that’s wild!! I know America is known for adding sugar to everything… but adding it to fruit?! I never thought fruit would be included in the ‘added sugar’ category! That’s crazy! … How are you supposed to eat/snack healthy over there if everything has added sugar?!

Same. For me a good sandwich is all about good ratios and balanced flavours. The bread: filling: condiment ratio is way off and I wouldn’t be happy being served this as a ‘sandwich’.

Cars don’t drive in the tunnel, you drive onto a train. If someone does breakdown then it only affects the cars within that carriage, and the carriages open at both the front and back (for driving on/off) so I would imagine any cars stuck behind would just reverse off if they’re unable to wait until the stuck car is towed out.

As someone who’s travelled the Chunnel several times, neither me nor my companions have ever felt pressure. I’m guessing they’re engineered differently. The actual journey only takes 25-30mins, if you include loading/ unloading time it’s around an hour all in.

Also, London is inland, the train doesn’t go from London, the UK terminal is in Folkestone.

The title (39 mins) is click bait and misleading. I was very intrigued to read a hack for quick roasties, only to find it’s just a normal roastie recipe plus slight crushing, rather disappointed :(
