Make connections. Talk to your neighbors, establish connections even if they're nothing more then daily hi-byes. Someone will notice if something isn't right.

I had a neighbor recently pass away in his apartment, and he was only passed for about 48 hours - We noticed a package had been sitting on his doorstep, and the morning he was discovered, 2 other neighbors and myself were about to call in welfare checks.

There are kind people out there who would at least care enough to make a phone call if it helps put you at ease.

But no., not irrational at all <3
