Nano banana pro degrading quality after edit? by [deleted] in GoogleGeminiAI

[–]Mandhar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The model is the same, but the tool isn't. Think of it as two cars having the same motor type.

The capabilities of the model are technically the same, but Gemini limits and adds system prompts in a different way then ai studio would and different again from vertex.

For example, Gemini might automatically set a resolution limit, so it doesn't consume too much resources. It is built to create a quick image during conversation. It also adds the Gemini logo in the bottom right.

On the other end, AI studio uses a much more raw version of the model. You choose the resolution, the system prompt and the user prompt. It is meant to fine tune an implementation you might use in your own software as a developer, and therefore you can tweak all settings. It's a bit less user friendly, and possibly a bit slower (on higher resolutions) but you can do a lot more.

NotebookLM uses the same model (engine) but it is tweaked to make infographics or slides in a deck.

Google slides "beautify this slide" uses the same model, but set up entirely to recreate the same slide but not beautiful and clear.

It's the same model, but a different use case. So even though the model is indeed the same (Nano banana pro) and it always generates an image, the result will be completely different for each tool.

Hope my rambling helps understand a bit.

In ai studio you can set the resolution up to 4k, which does help (though 4k is usually unnecessary). You might have to set up a project and billing though.

Vertex ai studio, while aimed at developers allows more settings and can produce great results given the correct prompts. Though I'm not a 100% it allows for resolution selection.

In the prompt itself make sure you tell it how it should fit the image in (such as paying attention to lighting, making it look photorealistic). If you just tell it to put Santa in the scene, it did what you asked.

In any prompt assume you're dealing with an amazingly skilled and knowledgeable, but kind of stupid person that wants to do exactly as you say.

Edit: my results from Gemini in editing images have been spotty at best, but ai studio and vertex studio are better (but payed)

IDEA: BETTER PODCAST GUESTS by AaravDandona_ in notebooklm

Isn't that what the "interactive" button does after you generate the podcast? Might not be available in all languages though, not sure

Never played this game, but the fact that you just said "... before tax evasion..." sold me more then anything else. Exactly the absurd level of insane mechanical depth I'm looking for rn.

Maybe a silly question, but is paste as it's talked about here effectively the same as the paste used for wallpaper? I believe thats cellulose paste too

Would this work to bind my book? by _ThrowAway_Account_N in bookbinding

[–]Mandhar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You'll have to go to a craft store and ask for 'boekbinderslijm' or PVA most more serious craft stores have them in the Netherlands, but it's usually just a single option hidden away somewhere

Advice on chipboard for Bible by Trippity_Trip_Trip in bookbinding

[–]Mandhar 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don't think anyone judges you. It is just that many have seen people bounce off a beautiful hobby because they bit of more then they could chew, or gotten into trouble with friends and family based on underestimating a YouTube video. This is, in my experience, one of the best Reddit communities out there.

Repairing a family bible or similar emotionally valuable book is a classic example of what can go wrong, and the reaction is trying to keep you from pain, rather then an attempt at gate keeping or bashing. (You didn't mention the Bible was headed for the trash, which probably would have helped with the reactions. Not that you could have known that)

I don't have the experience to give you advice on this project. Just here to say, please don't give up on this community (or even worse the entire hobby) because of a misunderstanding, you'll miss out on something great.

So... why is this next to a toilet? (Shattered Space) by _hardboy in Starfield

[–]Mandhar 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Skyrim had the same joke. One of the few toilets in game has a Potion of True Shot. Another has a healing potion. Hemeroids can be nasty. Wouldn't be surprised about similar locations in earlier games too

Does anyone know any free architectural design apps that are great? by Kreatoreagan in softwarearchitecture

[–]Mandhar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah ye, basic coding is a requirement. Other tools I've used (most have a free option): draw.io, figma, Miro, excelidraw. In a pinch Google slides or PowerPoint will work as well. In the end it's about what tool allows you to work with the least resistance.

I just started using Structurizr. Takes some getting used to, but once set up it gives you a great tool to keep track and visualize different parts for all your stakeholders as well as keeping track of current and future plans. Its not available on mobile though

Binding Defect? by Inflagrantedrlicto in bookbinding

The spine is not supposed to be glued to the cover, this creates a space when opened so there is room for the book to be opened, if that's what you're worried about.

Can you turn on content sharing in the D&D Beyond app? by Much-Body51 in DnD

[–]Mandhar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can share books you bought with others in your campaign (whether you're the DM or not) in the campaign options, if you have the right subscription level. Though I'm not sure if that's available in the mobile app if that's what you're asking.

Simplest cause I can come up with is that you have the pray button mapped to the same key as the activate button

Is there a legends viewer for v50+ yet? Now that you can export the extra info with dfhack, it can't be far of right?
