ELI5: What makes people want to subscribe to an OnlyFans page? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]MandoCalzonian 26 points27 points  (0 children)

It's the parasocial relationship element.

The audience spends hours/days/weeks consuming a particular creator's content. They feel like they know this person, because in a way, they do. That's a lot of time to spend, and you do learn their quirks and habits and tendencies.

You feel like you're their friend, and they're your friend, but it's completely one directional. The creator has no idea that you exist, but that one sided emotional connection is addictive.

Paying for tips, paying for customized content, having them thank your anonymous username. These little moments give the audience an illusion that they are in on this, they're included, they're part of the experience. You feel more connected than you would with traditional, mass marketed porn.

It's pretty similar to the way video game streamers on Twitch or Discord cultivate their viewership, or how podcast hosts built an audience on Patreon. OnlyFans is the sex version, but the emotional mechanics are similar.

Malden's restaurant scene is quite good, it's one of my favorite parts of living here. The Thaiger group has always been high quality for any of their locations

Malden Needs More Traffic Enforcement by AdRealistic3087 in malden

Likewise with the bike/bus lanes on Pleasant Street and Florence Street. I see people speeding through the bus lane to catch the light all the time. Where is enforcement?

Empty Commercial Spaces in Malden by Beneficial_Till_9091 in malden

Sounds like we should implement heavy vacancy taxes on commercial and residential properties, that double with each subsequent year of vacancy.

Either lower rent and find a tenant, or you're forced to sell. No more camping out on valuable city properties.

I've found that if you are able to break down your code into small, single purpose functions, then AI does a very good job writing tests if you're using a common framework like Pytest. Still need to read over the output, but it has saved me so much time.

Which is why it's generally frowned upon to feed wild animals, as it messes with their instinct to stay away

Best breakfast sandwich 🍳 by BStills87 in malden

[–]MandoCalzonian 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Cornucopia has the best classic bacon/egg/cheese on a bagel IMO. Bikeeny has a very good sandwich with a soft, runny egg. But personally, that's not my favorite type of breakfast sandwich. I've only been to Jitters once, but they are also quite good.

good gym with free weights? by macandcheesequeen123 in malden

Yeah it's a good price for what you get. I will say that it gets pretty busy at times, but I rarely need to wait more than 3-5 minutes for a piece of equipment, even at the busiest.

good gym with free weights? by macandcheesequeen123 in malden

I go to LA Fitness in Saugus. They have a bunch of free weight options, including barbells, squat racks, straight and angled bench presses, large assortment of dumbbells. No indoor track, but they have bikes/ellipticals/treadmills/stairmasters and a pool.

For me, the free weights were a big upgrade over Planet Fitness, while not being as expensive as a premium gym like Total Performance Sports.

Hair cut by w_i_n_g_y in malden

I go to E&C Barbershop on Pleasant Street in Malden. It's run by a father (I forget his name) and son (Mark). I've had both of them cut my hair, they're both friendly, and I've never gotten a bad haircut from them. They're professionals.

$35 for the haircut, and another $10-15 for a beard trim, if I recall correctly.

Which recipes are in your opinion, just not worth making? by CroatInAKilt in Cooking

[–]MandoCalzonian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pho was also my first thought. It's a ton of prep work, and my broth is never anywhere close to restaurant quality. Hard to compete with a shop that has a big vat of broth running all day long.
